My favorite quality in a fighter, a finisher.
Currently I would say my favorite finisher is Cotto. If he hurts his guy he almost always puts him away.
And all time my favorite finisher is marvin hagler.
Right now to really be called a cash cow in the sport you will need to fight and beat either Manny or Pacquiao.
Because both of those guys became cash cows by defeating the former ones (Oscar and Hatton).
And right now Manny and Floyd are going the rout of taking the fights with the most money without a whole lot risk and I have a hard time either of them giving Alvarez a shot in a few years.
Cash Cows may become a thing of the past soon.
Hardly the best move in boxing. Try using the shoulder roll in a fight and see how many hooks you roll your face right into.
Shoulder roll can be a great movie if you master it. But, if any fighter is just gonna try and shoulder roll... well goodnight.
Berto would beat Cotto!
Berto hand speed and combos would give Cotto serious problems, PRESSURE BURST PIPES! I think Berto would Pressure the hell out of Cotto with his Hand Speed and break him down
Berto is one of those guys that people will continue to point out his flaws ONLY and say he "can't do this" and "can't do that" and "he struggled with this or that fighter" but all he needs is a shot in a big fight and I think people will see how good he truly is
the ONLY weakness Berto has is his Defense, but offensively Berto is DANGEROUS, excellent Speed and Power and probably has the best and most explosive Uppercuts in Boxing Today IMO
if Berto is "not that good" then people would be rushing to take him out I would think, but clearly other fighters and trainers and promoters sees more as a THREAT then some "Overrated Young Fighter" they can exploit
Berto has handspeed which cotto has proven many times he can handle. And his pressure consists of sporadic combos and holding, nothing to disruptive.
I put the last paragraph in bold because people have been rushing to take him out. First Mosley was gonna fight him that fell through now you have Mike Jones the WW prospect looking to take him out, not to mention some of the JWW.
People all of a sudden are jumping down jacobs throat.
Right now Lemieux needs to prove himself against a better opponent, until then I reserve the right to not answer this question.
Pac has a shot in this fantasy fight. Sergio's size is a huge advantage for him but there are several times throughout a fight where Sergio is caught off balance I think with proper training and Pac's speed and explosiveness they could exploit it.
Hell even Pavlik caught him off balance.
Body shot or head shot??
I dont see Cotto ko'ing Berto. He couldnt handle Pac's speed, just imagine what berto's speed will do? And your right Berto isnt that good. But Cotto isnt the same Cotto either..
Pac is a whole different monster then Berto, Pac is a combination of speed and pressure, which is an awful thing for Cotto.
Cotto handled Zab Judah, and Shane Mosley's speed so speed isnt that new for him. I have Cotto beatin Berto, I dont think Berto could handle Cottos hard jab and good body punching.
Actually the more I think about it I think Cotto has this one in the bag.
Baseball, football, hockey, tennis, soccer, at the end you know who is the best. I can't believe we have champions or best boxers in many divisions that are not facing each other.
IMO this is hurting Boxing more than anything else. Do you agree ?
I know its literally disgusting. I'am almost completely turned off from professional boxing. I will never pay for a floyd ppv, or a pacquiao ppv again.
Even in the UFC they made it work and meanwhile boxing is looking like a complete joke.
Boxing needs those big fights, they are very important, not only for us but also to bring new fans to the game. I hope they do something about it soon...
Well dont get your hopes up cause they wont do anything about it.
Unless of course ever weight division has a tournament like the super six. But, that probably wont happen seeing as almost every champion has to big of an ego to be set to those rules.
Dumbass
Why he didnt get 40% against MAYWEATHER then?
NEXT!!!!!!
Because Mayweather is greedy... I didnt think Manny Pacquiao shared that same vice. smh
Wouldnt be surprised if he faces Jacobs again down the line.
I would like his next fight to be Williams and depending on who wins that they face Martinez.
Can anyone inform me how the likes of Lou Dibella, Don King, Dan Goosen, etc got there start? Everyone's gotta start from some were right?
Ok fine lets assume you live in Las Vegas.
How to become an amateur boxing promoter in LV: http://boxing.nv.gov/New_regaprom.htm
How to become a pro boxing promoter: http://boxing.nv.gov/New_regpprom.htm
I doubt a whole lot of promoters just jumped right in the game they probably got there start somewhere. In some cases a degree at college (I know Dibella graduated from Harvard Law and then worked for HBO) or maybe they had a background in boxing.
Here is a list of the current boxing promoters according to the Las Vegas Boxing Commission:

Maybe it would be smart to email one of these places about possible career opportunities.
Here is the Nevada Athletic Commission website: http://boxing.nv.gov/
yeah it didn't take long to realize that Bernabe isn't anything similar to Pacman, like 187 said he was simply outclassed, to short on his punches and 2 slow. He tried though and at least he didn't pull an Allan Green, he made it exciting while it lasted
Exactly, to use that footwork it relies on speed and explosiveness. If you lack the speed or explosiveness (like bernabe did) you are just going to be a sitting duck at times.
Cause all they care about is the money... boxing fights bring in highrollers in the casino so the casinos are willing to dish out alot for the fights.
They need to travel around the states and other countries for fights to help spread the sport.
Again this is something UFC is doing better then boxing. When UFC came to Philly it was huge tickets sold out immediatly.
Thats what I have been saying since day 1.
At this point I'am hoping both guys and their camps either retire or die so we dont have to listen to their bullshit anymore.
Its the strangest thing watching boxing fans mainly floyd and pac fans defend their fighter to the death. I have never seen anything like it even for football, baseball, basketball teams the fans arent that inlove with them.
This is actually a very interesting subject you have brought up, I never really thought about it.
But, my best reasoning for it is that boxing is just fighting rounded out and watered down to make it a competitive sport. So with the placement of this rule of the neutral corner and the standing 8 the fighters must realize the fight isnt over when they stun their opponent they must be able to continue fighting and finish their opponent. Likewise with the fighter that has been hurt he should be properly trained to continue fighting effectively after being hurt.
That is always why I always love a fighter that is a finisher.
There was a post a while back i forget by who but he explained basically the business of ppv's.
And this ppv is essentially the only way to get this fight on tv.
To be fair any fighter that makes it to the elite level has a very good chin.
But comparing chins relative to the people they are fighting I would say Edison Miranda, Roy Jones, and Amir Khan even though i dont think his chin is that bad.
People throw the word robbery around way too much on here.
Yeah I think Sergio won a close fight but that doesnt mean Paul couldnt have won either.
It was a great close fight that is hard to call that is why there should be a rematch.
