Anyway, I am surprised you even follow up this thread, Gorilla Dogs boxing knowledge is so far above the rim than anyone else's.
thanks man. appreciate it
Hardly the best move in boxing. Try using the shoulder roll in a fight and see how many hooks you roll your face right into.
Shoulder roll can be a great movie if you master it. But, if any fighter is just gonna try and shoulder roll... well goodnight.
but ill use your logic
if you use staright offence you always get hit. then you get GTFO!
fail
Lol, fail? The guy who just said someone with defense gets "get the fucked out".
I think you meant KTFO, but...
Actually smart guy, you obviously need offense and defense to win, because your offense scores your points, and your defense limits to opponent from scoring offense and points.
As it turns out, that's pretty much how every sport works.
The Philly Shell aint for everyone.
You gotta be damn quick and smart to use it, otherwise if you just trying to be like Floyd you might just get whupped.
Actually no one wins because of their defense... it's usually offense compared to the opponent's offense, and by usually, I mean always.
I think its both. Too much offense without defense can cause you a KO loss and Too much defense will make you outworked.

oh wait who won that fight? :dunce:
All style has flaws. There is no such thing as perfect style as all fighters get hit even if rarely.
If we go by your logic, it will look like Pacquiao's defense is better than Clottey cause he won.
if floyd was a switch orthodox/southpaw it would be flawless. but he rarely fights southpaws so its perfect
Unless he fights Pacquiao... in that case, it wouldn't be as valuable as it has been in his top performances, which have all been against... well, not southpaws for some reason.
Watch 0:53-56
It's funny that people say the defence is shit against southpaws because he got rocked a few times. Ignoring the fact that fighters get rocked against southpaws and orthadox fighters countless times using a standard guard.
It's ignorant to say that a defense is perfect because someone who uses it sometimes has won all of his fights.
I mean... really, not the sort of logic you really want to be using.

This shell defense is all wrong if you actually wanna hit someone, you have to bend backwards/low and it is a shitty position to throw punches from. Only few use that guard and I know of only one or two who are succesful with it.
Actually it isn't a shit defence to hit someone from. It offsets the opponents balance and provides good counter opportunities.

It does seem like it can set up uppercuts extremely effectively though... the backwards motion seems to roll into a loaded up uppercut pretty well.
He did it Baldomir pretty masterfully.
floyd has beat every south paw he has fought :twak:
Yeah, but not with the shell... he got blasted by Judah's left when he was doing that. The angles are wrong for the shell.
And please stop calling it the philly shell... you sound like someone who plays FNR3 more than watches real fights.
