I see some people saying the only reason they think Pacquiao might be on steroids is because of how he walked through Cotto's punches. I have a legit question about this because I don't know: Do steroids help you get a stronger chin? I thought they just kept your body from breaking down as fast so you're able to exert 100% maximum effort longer. Like with baseball players, they don't improve how well you can hit the ball but maybe give you more power to hit it farther. Also, they help with injuries throughout the year so you can achieve maximum performance for longer periods of time instead of wearing down. How do they help you get a better chin? Is this an even possible side-effect?

Yeah, that shot caught him right behind the ear. I'm surprised he was able to get up in the first place. Please, Roy, just retire; it's ridiculous having to see you get beat up this way. There isn't any need for a "farewell" fight or anything... just retire now. The people who like you will say that you were washed-up after having to lose weight for the 1st Tarver fight and not even remember these past few years, and the people that hate you will say that you were always overrated and never fought anybody. Nothing you can do from this point on will ever change any of that, so please just hang 'em up right now.

Are you on crack? Cotto didn't outbox anybody, he tried to box from the fifth round on and got hit with 43 percent of manny shots, chased down like a bitch and TKOed. I agree. I respect Cotto as a person and a fighter. However, he didn't decide to "try and outbox" Manny. He was getting beat up and was running in order to try and make it through the fight.

They need to air them (or a version of 24/7) on NBC, CBS, ABC or FOX so they can promote this fight to the mainstream. Slap a fight or two (maybe with some young up and comers) before and/or after the Pacquiao-Mayweather promos and try to get people to really start paying more attention to boxing. I mean you got these great promo shows that really get you psyched up for the fight but half the people don't get to see them because they're on HBO.

I'm also a big RJJ fan and Saturday night was really a treat. This was the best he's looked in a long time, and this is probably the most punches I've seen him throw since 2000 or so. I'm also glad that when he was tired, instead of leaning against the ropes, he would grab Sheika and take him to the center of the ring. Roy just looked in a lot better shape stamina-wise than he has really since the Ruiz fight. He also threw more jabs than I think I've ever seen him throw in 5 rounds. My biggest gripe with Roy has been (well, at least since 2000 and later) that he does not throw enough punches. Before coming back down in weight, he would scare his opponent with his blinding speed, which would lead to his opponent just sitting back and allowing Roy to control the fight only throwing 20 or so punches a round. The 3rd Tarver fight and the Calzaghe fight literally had me yelling at the tv for him to "throw more punches, dammit." Any time during the Calzaghe fight that he actually let his hands go, he would stop Calzaghe in his tracks but it just looked like he didn't have the energy after the 3rd round or so. But I must say, seeing Roy throw as many punches as he did against Sheika has me excited about future fights.

Molsey has started dissin floyd already mosley is gunna get punished on May 1st Punished? Who has Mayweather ever punished who wasn't, as Floyd puts it, "a C-level, club fighter"? If you mean shoulder roll and connect with 10 punches a round while staying on the outside of the ring, then yeah, Mayweather will punish Mosley. I think it's going to be a good fight contrary to my above post, but even if FM wins, he's not going punish anybody. He might frustrate Mosley but that's about all.

Funny article-considering James Toney was trained by Freddie Roach like Pacquiao and was using steroids.Also funny to note that a few steroid users have backed up Manny and said he shouldn't do the testing! Didn't De La Hoya also train under Freddie Roach?

I'm looking forward to it to since my birthday is at the end of the month. It probably comes out tomorrow. It's been my experience with games that Tuesday is the shipping date, while Wednesday is the day the stores actually get it in and start selling it. I have a feeling that if you plan on buying it from a GameStop or Wal-Mart, you're probably going to have to wait till tomorrow. However, if you ordered it online with next day shipping, you might get it in today. With money being tight, I'm going to have to rent it first to see if it's worth the buy. Does anyone know when Blockbuster gets their new games in to rent?

I don't think Hopkins is "scared" of Roy, but I do believe he thinks there's a huge chance that he will lose to him again. Styles make fights, and I just don't see how the version of Roy that fought Lacy (the one that actually throws punches) can lose to Hopkins. Hopkins has trouble with fighters with speed as he is a more control the tempo, laid back fighter, especially if that speed comes with any kind of power behind it. Just see the Taylor fights- about the only guy with speed and decent power he's fought lately and lost both of them, and we've seen how "great" a fighter Taylor turned out to be. Now, if the non-punching version of Jones that appeared in the Johnson, 3rd Tarver and Calzaghe fights appear, Hopkins beats him up no doubt. My feeling is that the only way Hopkins can beat Jones is if he lands one big shot and KOs him but when's the last time Hopkins has KOed someone with one punch? A fat De La Hoya? And that was with a body shot. He beat the hell out of Pavlik, but if I recall, Pavlik never went down. As we saw from the Taylor fights, it doesn't take a lot to knock him down; keep him down, maybe, but not knock him down. So I just don't see Hopkins out-working Jones and/or KOing him with one punch. Even in rounds that Hopkins may have a higher punch total, Jones is so much flashier than Hopkins that Jones would probably steal some. But this is my opinion and is strictly based on Roy Jones letting his hands go. On another note, for people saying "Why should Hopkins fight Roy, what does Roy have to offer": Well, aside from the $$ it would generate, whatever happened to just wanting to beat the guy that beat you? You would think that a guy who talks about another man being "scared to stand up to someone" would be the first to say, "listen, Roy, I'm a better fighter than you now and you beat me when I was just coming up, so I'm going to accept 60-winner and 40-loser just so I can kick your ass." I'm tired of all this "well, I beat Jim, who beat Joe, who beat you so I'm better" bullshit. In football, if my team loses to team A, but I beat team B who beat team A, I don't talk trash to team A fans because they'd say "so what, we beat you." Say what you want about Roy, but he has the W over Hopkins in a fight that wasn't really that close to even warrant a rematch until many years later. As entertaining as this radio show was, sadly, we'll more-than-likely never see this fight happen. I wish Hopkins had as much faith in himself that he could easily beat this shell of a Roy Jones that his fans have- if he did, this fight would be happening this year.

What does it matter to you what numbers it did? You don't see a dime, all you get is the product which wasn't that good on the overall card and this is all you need to know. Its none of fans business really how much money fighters and promoters make, I wish they would keep that stuff private. I was just about to post this. Who cares what the numbers were? They don't put any money in our pockets. When I read the thread topic, I figured I go in to read something about someone feeling the fight was fixed...and then I see it's about freaking pay-per-view numbers like that means anything. I'm going to have to break the news but Mayweather vs. Mosley is going to have better numbers in the end than Pac-Clottey because, well, it's a better and more intriguing fight. There's more casual fans that know of Mosley than they knew of Clottey, and Mosley poses a legit threat to Mayweather (the type of threat May hasn't faced in a long time). The only reason the Pac fight will make a good bit of PPV buys is that Pac's exciting to watch, not so much of the match-up itself.

These things are always possible. If you think there's absolutely no way things like this take place in boxing, then you're fooling yourself. It's just so much money riding on a Pac-May fight, and it would really bring a lot of attention to boxing as a whole. I don't think that Mosley is that kind of fighter- at least I hope he's not. Even if Mosley doesn't throw it himself, you still have to worry about the judges should it go to a decision. I love boxing but stuff like this crosses my mind from time to time. This is why I'm rooting for a KO by one or the other, and I'm not talking about a ref "questionably" stopping the fight, I'm talking about a brutal knocked-out-the-ring kind of KO to really show who's the best.

The P4P list is not how dominate someone is in their division- if this was the case, they'd be up there. It's a list where you take one guy and compare him to another as if the two were the same exact size. For example, if Sugar Shane Mosley was the same exact size as Vitali, or if Vitali was the same size as Mosley, who would win? I just don't see too many cases where, if the Klitschokos were the same size as any of the opponents on the P4P list, that they'd be able to win. Take the Mosley comparison: even the 38 year old Mosley that just fought would probably still out-punch Vitali, could handle Vitali's power (since they're at the same weight), or at the very least have more movement than Vitali to be able to move away from VK's power punches. This philosophy does limit the number of heavyweights that will appear on P4P lists because, let's face it, heavies just don't have the moment and punch output that smaller guys have. It's easy to picture a smaller guy as being a bigger version of himself, but it's a lot harder to picture how a big fighter would fight as a smaller version of himself.

Floyd's chin is solid. It's impressive that he is such a defensive minded counter puncher, but can still take a shot to the chin with the best of em. He took 2 of Mosleys best shots and even though he hung on for dear life he didn't panic one bit. The other 10 rds were hard to watch. Shane only had 6 minutes of fight in him. Actually, I think Floyd's chin is very weak, which is the primary reason he fights so defensively. He very seldom gets hit with any big shots, but in these few instances in which he does, he seems to always get hurt. He's just so smart that he knows to hold on until he gets through it. He got hit with 1 big, flush shot against Mosley and was hurt, but I don't remember him being hit flush again for the rest of the fight.

I also agree. I don't post a lot, but this is the only board I read to get my boxing fix, information and opinions. Even though I'm a Pacquaio fan, it gets tiresome only reading threads about him and Floyd and about which one sucks and which one could beat Godzilla with his eyes closed. I've never seen so many sensitive people about two guys that wouldn't give a flying f*ck about them in the real world.

I'm going with Brewster. Of all the decent heavies out there, I believe Brewster offers the most challenge to WK. Unless WK has gotten a chin transplant since his last fight, I think LB has a very good shot. If I remember, LB was in bad shape the first time they fought while WK was in his normal great shape and yet Brew still took WK's best and KOed him. LB now appears to be in very good shape fighting essentially the same WK he fought before. And to be honest, WK hasn't shown me shit. But, since I decided to type this in writing, I'm sure WK will win by early round stoppage- such is life.

That was the most entertaining RJJ fight I've seen in years. He wasn't that dominate but that made for a very, very good fight. I can't remember the last time he went for the KO like he did in the 9th round when he hurt Hanshaw to the body. But just as usual, after Knocking Down Hanshaw in the 11th and having the chance to KO him, he just let him off the hook. I would like to see RJJ for at least one more time in his career really try to KO and/or hurt somebody. Anyway, very entertaining fight and congrats to Roy. You really forget how fast he can be until you see him let 2 or 3 punches go. He hit Hanshaw with a left uppercut that I didn't even see- I just saw Hanshaw's head fly back. Those who didn't get the fight really missed out on a very good, hard fought contest.

I've got Dish here in South Carolina, and I see the fight coming on Channel 457 at 9:00pm. I was a little worried to b/c most PPV fights in my area come on Channel 455 but they have something else on but I scrolled up and found it on 457 instead. Hope you can get it where ever you're at...

I actually thought RJJ won about 8 or 9 rounds. Even when Hanshaw trapped him in the corner not too much was landing. For every 4 that Hanshaw threw that hit RJJ's arms or gloves, Roy would counter with 2 that would land flush. But if you want to talk about horrible scoring, you need to watch the 'Smoke" Gainer fighter that took place before the RJJ fight!

RJJ has always been my favorite fighter. That's weird b/c there's no other sports athlete that I have ever pulled for that showboats and is so cocky the way that Roy Jones has been through his career. Matter of fact, any other athletes that act like RJJ does I've not only not pulled for, I've hated. So why I find RJJ so entertaining is still a wonder for me. I guess one reason I like him is b/c I've never heard him down any other fighter. He constantly builds himself up, sure, but I've never heard him call someone a bum or washed up or insult him or whatever. It seems like he respects any fighter that has the guts to climb in the ring and fight. I believe this is why I like RJJ and not someone like Mayweather, Jr. During the build up for the Gatti fight, Mayweather wouldn't shut up about how much of a bum ("C" level club fighter) Gatti was and even though Mayweather backed up his claims in the ring, I believe he should show more respect to other fighters. Gatti had more heart and determination in his career than Mayweather will ever have skill- some fighters are just blessed by God and some aren't. I don't know where RJJ ranks in the All Time Bests- but for me personally, I've never seen another fighter with the hand speed that he has. I've also seen very few athletes get as much hate as RJJ gets- the guy gets KOed by a eyes-closed left hook and people are saying he was never really that good yet a basketball player like Kobe Bryant hasn't done squat since Shaq left and everyone still thinks he's one of the best. Anyway, I'm glad Roy got the win last night; I'm not sure what other big fighters he can beat these days (probably Tito and I think another easy fight for him would be Hopkins- I know people will disagree strongly with this but the way I see it you'll have 2 older fighters, neither of which throws a lot of punches, one with fast hands one with slow and I gotta go with the fast handed fighter) but I do hope he gets one more big win before it's all said and done.

I really like Brewster (anyone who saw the Brewster-Liakovich fight has to have some respect for the man) but wasn't his eye injury due to getting hit by Liakovich? I mean he didn't get that injury by walking into the turnbuckle during his ring entrance. That's like saying if Roy Jones wouldn't have broke Virgil Hill's ribs then Hill would've won it. That's the point of boxing; to cause physical discomfort to your opponent in order for you to seize some sort of advantage. What impresses me is that Brewster was able to go through the remaining 11 rounds of great action after the injury. And how can you not be impressed with Liakovich? He gave just a little better than he took and that's all that counts. I don't care if Brewster and Liakovich are "B" level fighters or whatever you may call them... any heavyweights that are willing to have a war like they did deserves some respect. Just compare the Brewster-SL fight to the Rahman-Toney fight and tell me what fighters you'd rather see in the future. Now, in terms of Wlad. Well, yeah, he was gased but if I remember wasn't Brester really out-of-shape for that fight? If they rematched, I honestly don't think WK would make it past 6. Well, I take that back. After watching him fight Sam Peter and Chris Byrd, he has gone through "grab-clinch-repeat" training with John Ruiz so he'd probably make it through 8 or more. The thing that scares me about WK is that he's getting all this hype (once again) after beating a 6' or less, 213 lb Chris Byrd whom he already knocked out. He has lost 2 of his last 8 by TKOs in under 5 rounds by (at that time) relative unknowns. Now, I'm not saying WK isn't the best heavyweight and I'm not saying Brewster or Liakovich are. I just want these guys to start fighting each other and get this whole mess straightened out. I just wish these heavyweights would realize that I'm 2 or 3 fights from being the "man" so I'm going to make the fights that matter. But I think the days of someone fighting just for pride of being the best are over.

"He should fight Fres Oquendo.Fres gave Byrd all he could handle and I felt won the fight." That's the understatement of the year. The Byrd-Oquendo fight was the biggest robbery that I have personally seen (well, the one that sticks out in my mind the most I should say). And while I don't think Tua is 100% washed-up, Brock should stay away from him. That's a "too much risk, no reward" fight. If Brock dances around him and wins a UD, it would be boring and everyone would be saying Tua's washed up anyway. Then there's the 50% chance that Tua catches him and he gets KOed. Does anyone know what Ruiz is up to... does he have a fight scheduled? I'd like to see Brock fight him b/c it'd clear up two things. If Brock can't beat Ruiz, then he doesn't need a title shot right now. If Brock beats Ruiz, it would be a win over an ex-champ (who it's my understanding a lot of people thought beat Valuev sp?) and knock Ruiz down the heavyweight latter just a little more.

I order a LOT of PPV fights but there's no way I'm ordering this one. Maybe if Rahman had looked good the last couple of fights instead of how he looked against Barrett and Toney I might have gotten it. It's unbelievable. People wonder why boxing isn't mainstream and then you get this crap. I thought the $50 that HBO charged for De La Hoya or Barrera to fight some noboday was untolerable but at least in them fights at least 1 of the fighters were good. This would be like charging $50 to watch the KC Royals play the Washington Nationals in baseball. The only channel that this fight should be on is PBS.

Thank you... the Barrera-Fana fight was the EXACT fight that I was thinking of when I posted my message but I just couldn't think of the name of the guy that Barrera fought. And you would think that the way the heavyweight division needs better interest, they would show this fight for free instead of ppv. I would love for them to someway be able to show this on a special NBC fight night or something for free and try and get more people into boxing. But instead they put a $50 price tag on it that upsets even diehard boxing fans like the ones on this site.

That was an entertaining first round; I wish it would have gone longer. Normally I'd say that was a decent stoppage, but with it being just the first round and only a couple of seconds left before the round is over, you've got to give the fighter a chance. It just sucks because I was all set to watch a good, action packed fight for the next 30 minutes, but that's boxing for you.

I'm glad somebody brought this up. I don't hate Max by any means but to disrespect a fighter the way he did was awful. He asked Pavlik basically something like "how many more Gary Locketts will there be before you fight someone good again" and something like "after the Taylor fights, you deserve a fight against a Gary Lockett." I mean it's one thing to say it in commentary but to say something like that when the fighter was probably still in the ring with them. I wish Gary would've went over and kicked Max's ass :boxing: and said "it's not as easy as it looks, bitch." Any fighter that is brave enough to go into the ring and give it their best deserves some credit. At least he didn't run like coward for 12 rounds trying to avoid the KO.
