"He (Mayweather) got pushed into this fight. He really didn't want it" -- Mosley

After signing on to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. on May 1st, 'Sugar' Shane Mosley didn't waste time to let the world know what he felt about his proposed bout.
In an interview with Elie Seckbach of Fanhouse.com recently, Mosley said,
"I'm ready to do it. I'm ready to go. I'm happy. It's May 1st, it's something that I've been wanting."
Mosley also believes that Mayweather never truly wanted the fight and was simply pressured into taking the Mosley challenge after his superfight against Manny Pacquiao did not materialize.
Mosley added,
"I believe this fight he got pushed into because the Pacquiao fight fell out, so he got pushed into this fight. He really didn't want it."
As much as I love the honesty coming from Mosley, he better watch his mouth for now because Floyd hasn't officially signed the contract yet. It wasn't too long ago that Mayweather "agreed" to fight Pacquiao, only to demand extra stipulations that made the fight against Pacquiao almost impossible to make.
If the fight does indeed push through, I am happy for Mosley because he truly deserves a fight of this magnitude. I actually favor him to win against Floyd if he comes into the ring the way he did against Margarito last year.

i agree. it's ridiculous to think dude was "forced" into anything. what mayweather does, is look for the biggest fights, and after the manny fight fell apart, shane became his BIGGEST option, not his ONLY option tho.
floyd simply decided to take his BIGGEST option. i don't think fans and/or the media played any part in the decision, as much as floyd's wallet did.
I mean let's face it... the fight NOW is probably not as competive as it could have been years ago... but money wise it would never been any bigger... it wouldn't have been bigger in 99... it wouldn't have been bigger in 2007... Mosley comes off a career fight... Mosley looks as energized and hungry as he hasn't been in a long time...
I mean if you get a job offer for more money and it is probably less challenging then the other offer for less money and is more challenging... what do you do...
I could understand their aggression against his boxing business decisions if he would be a nobody... but ppl forget he is one of the best 130 pounders all time... fought Castillo (who was the best 135 pounder after his win over Johnston), fought Hatton (who was the best 140 pounder - yes, it was at 147)... 5 time division champion... fought 15 champions in his career... his resume stands for itself... and if he wants to make money because he can who am I to fault him for that... now, he is facing the best welter out there and he is making a lot of money so ppl should be happy instead of sad or hateful... he is making money and fights the best... I really don't get it...
But I guess most poster on here are flawless in their lives... they do always everything right in life... warrior like... are true to their word, never lie, never steal etc. The internet is really full of the best human beings I've ever met in my life to be honest... you guys should go out in the world and spread your wisdom... you could help human beings and make the world better
Cheers
C'mon GTR... it's nice that you still try to hold up the flag but let's be serious...
The last time as he had no other option and was forced into matches against tough opponents he retired... at least that's what you believe right???
So why he doesn't retire now where he has nowhere to go??? And please don't start with keeping his face or shit... you guys always say he doesn't care for fans or his legacy? So what's really popping dude?
Is your hatred so deep... because of what?

Thanks Floyd for giving People the fight they are asking for.
really though I could care less b/c I'm spending my $65(hd price) so I'm happy long as on may 1 they in the ring
b/c the public demanded it. Floyd is being looked at as a ducker & cherry picker. When the pac fight didn't fall through he had no choice or he wouldve taken a hugh hit
Thanks Floyd for giving People the fight they are asking for.
lol stop fooling urself. floyd got forced to sign the fight. he doesnt have any other options.

I find that difficult to believe. When has Floyd ever been known to do anything he doesn't want to do?

Positive about Floyd? I dunno'...I've been a HARSH critic in the past. I wrote suggesting a boycott of the Judah fight; I bumped him (too far in retrospect) in P4P ratings after his abysmal 03-05 campaign.
Each case is its own though. While I would be less than shocked, I don't think right now there is any real evidence of Pac cheating. However, if the shoes were reversed, and May issued a public statement saying he'd test up to a few days out, and then said few = 24, he would have been crucified.
Literally.
Like Jesus.
It would be hypocritical not to be honest about what I think has happened. Team Floyd created a problem that didn't need to be; Team Pac ultimately killed the fight.
Really, so you basically live up your old school karma *looooooooool*
I wasn't reading this site back then but I believe you. I'm a Mayweather fan but also a Pacquiao fan... I just simply write a lot about Floyd here because most are really talking BS... but I can see points that real boxing fans make about especially his time from 03-05... no question about that... but I also try to be fair and give him a benefit of a doubt on certain things... did he always fought the best no... but it wasn't always his fault IMO.
I see you on the Pac-May deal... it's def. a problem that May started but what it really make rolling IMO was Pacquiao or better said his camp... sometimes you really get the feeling that nobody talks with no one in there and they all have other opinions of what's going on and simply talk... I think his team really made a great job of make him look like a guilty person. I personally don't believe that he takes roids either but the situation was so poorly handled that I can't blame someone who believes that something is fishy...
Floyd gets crucified for everything... partly his fault but the hate he generates is really new... I wasn't around when Ali was hated but it can't be too far away from the level May gets hated around here... I mean even know for the Mosley fight... the boxing experts I believe will give him credit but around here... they were all crying how he is scared about Mosley and now were the fight is on they all say oh, he is 38... before that they never mentioned it *loooooooooooooooooooool*
I applaud Floyd for his stepping forward to new testing rules for whatever reasons he did it... I think we can agree that boxing tests are a joke if you take into comparison that Track athletes, swimmers gets tested stricter then ppl who actually do physical harm to each other.
Keep up the real talk Cliff
lol stop fooling urself. floyd got forced to sign the fight. he doesnt have any other options.
ok you win he was forced. So Floyd is fight Mosley like everyone wanted. lol you people love making points that mean nothing.

i agree, but don't you think team pacquiao created a problem also, by demanding a 10M/lb. penalty, if floyd came in over 147?
especially considering the fact floyd has never came in over 147, EVER, except when he was fighting oscar at 154?
point is, floyd sucked it up, and accepted a ridiculous demand, for the sake of competition, is it below manny to do the same?
How do you keep your green karma Cliff... you are very openly positive about Mayweather and still greeeeeeen... daaaaaaaaaamn duuuuuuuuuuude...
@LadyFan you are back??? I thought Burner snitched you outta here... we were just talking about you the other day in the lounge *loooooooooool* JAT

a fight with pac IS the biggest in history. not shane.
exactly my point, and also the point "CROLD1" just made.....
mayweather was trying to get THE BIGGER FIGHT w/ pac first.....obviously!
that fell apart, so he went after the SECOND BIGGEST fight!
// thread. dumb article.
Agreed...this is lame a straw clutch as ever seen. "Mayweather was forced into this fight..."
Yup.
When the biggest fight fell apart, he went to the next biggest which also happens to be just as tough a fight.

Got pushed into fighting = Fighting.
Choose to fight = Fighting.
Another pointless point, brought to you by Examiner and their dumb followers.

of course he didn't want it.....
he was trying to get a fight that was said to be the biggest fight in boxing history!
// THREAD :nonono:
Punished? Who has Mayweather ever punished who wasn't, as Floyd puts it, "a C-level, club fighter"? If you mean shoulder roll and connect with 10 punches a round while staying on the outside of the ring, then yeah, Mayweather will punish Mosley.
I think it's going to be a good fight contrary to my above post, but even if FM wins, he's not going punish anybody. He might frustrate Mosley but that's about all.
Punish as in win the fight lol, cos mosley already saying hes gunna win. I see the first 3 rounds being great, shane will try to pressure floyd, eventuslly i think shane will realise that he cant connect with any shots and I believe that he will get sloppy and throw wild punches. I have floyd winning by UD
What up Lady? We were talkin about this yesterday. I cant wait to hear what this writer has to say after the fight. I mean you can hate on the guy all you want and you can blame either guy for the Pac fight not happening but the fact is that if Pac says yes to 14 days then Floyd had to fight him and he left Pac and went straight to Shane. People cant deny that no matter how hard they try. Stop trying to act like he is scared when he clearly isnt. Also notice how he says he picks Mosley "if" he comes in like he did against Tony. That means that if Floyd does win then he will try to act like it wasnt the same Mosley. Either way, I cant wait to hear him & Scoop's mouth after this
