The problem I have with the camp/Arum they keep matching him up with fighters he does well against. The type that are offensive-in-your-face-hit-me kinda guys (except clottey). Where is the preperations to ever fight Floyd in terms of math up styles. I think the last technically sound and defensive boxer in Pacs record was Marquez and as a style match-up it was the worst style to face
Having said that pac has come a long way. If he faught marquez now at 147 or 140 I would pick pac to win. Against floyd i still don't know given my point above.
The way I see it, the fact that Pac gets hit a bit too much is a major factor. The best argument in Pacs case is his unique offense which works well toe-to-toe and have to admit he's good at it, even coming in and out throwing a bunch of combos. But can he bring the same style mentally which he has been using against offensive fighters into a fight with Floyd? As much as i like Pac, I can't see it at the mo until he gets it on with a fighter similar to Mayweather and possibly base a decision on that.
Nice attempt at humour there...
Oh, and it's MUHAMMAD.
It's funny to me, because i just read a thread about how people are obsessed about Floyd to the point they make threads about him like retards and time wasters
Then I happened to stroll along this thread next lmao
You all off your heads. As much as I think it is 50/50, as usual this topic has always a biased view. Your missing the fact that Pacquio plays well against come-forward toe-to-toe offensive style boxers. And of those started to fight blatantly head on and underestimate Manny and i must admit Manny does well.
Except for Clottely who was a purely defensive 1-D fighter, which we knew Pac was gonna win by a landslide. So Pac is elusive against these fighters and styles make fights. I was surprised how he handled these fighters. You missed one vital piece of information, which fighter in Mannys recent record shows he squares well with a technically sound and a defensive fighter who places his shots well instead of brawling? The fact is Manny is at a huge disadvantage and i blame the whole Pac camp for that albeit they made a lot of money on the way and made him a star. Roach and Co are hoping Floyds legs have gone, and Mayweather if he is scared is more scared of losing his zero that fighting Pac.
Just so you know if they ever fight, my heart tells me Pac would win but my head says otherwise. People just got to be realistic.
I'm not sure which channel this is on so if its not on freeview I won't be able to see it.
I know there's still a while till the bout but has anybody got any streams?
Too early mate. I PMed you a website where it should be on later. Best quality is when you pay for the PPV though, standard.
Easy Martinez. I can see many people talking about Pacs output and punch combinations which will cause problems for Floyd. Pac has done this too brawlers other offensive fighters NOT against someone who places his shots well. I can assure you Manny's output would be quite less than his recent run. There's gonna be much concern about Floyds accuracy and Manny will have to be as careful as Floyd would and have think about his combinations
Martinez on the other hand is much bigger, also a southpaw. Martinez style is very much unfavorable to Floyd prob even more so than an offensive fighter. With Manny Floyd is able to utilize his reach advantage much more than with Martinez. In addition Martinez has accuracy and likes to place his shots. It would be an interesting match-up nonetheless.
In the end Martinez would be a significantly difficult fight.
It is a tight fight but I am going with Maidana winning by KO. I just don't believe the spin that Khan is a hugely improved boxer since Prescott,he is better but his defense has never been that good. I also don't buy the spin that his chin is much better at 140. I think Maidana is good enough to eventually land some meaningful blows and when and if that happens I just don't see Khan holding up.
That's fair enough. If I could see that he'd land some meaningful and significant blows i would be inclined to agree.
Arum is looking after his cash cow. No disrespect to Pac, I'm sure when push comes to shove he would fight Marquez at a catch weight of 144. Just Arum/Roach and Co won't let him I'd say.
Because everybody knows Manny is a, Way-Bigger-Draw, than Floyd.
Two things, who exactly is everybody. Secondly have you got definitive proof Manny is a -'way'- bigger draw.
Really it doesn't matter,
right now he is irrelevant to the sport as far as I'm concerned.
Looks like it. Even when he's not in the sport vacation or wherever he is probably the most talked about man in boxing even when he doesn't box.
On a lighter note.. Floyd should, go on holiday. Oops too late :D
Its quite simple actually. most of the 'boxing fans' just ride on pacquios nuts. Yet they have never went to his fights. Thats okay, but then there are people who have never been too one. I guess thats okay too. But then there are those who just stream every one of his fights and talk on here. Am i being harsh here lol
Now I want chicken tikka masala, man.
Would you like some fries with that order lmao
On a serious note, there has been some good analysis and reasons from BScene peeps here. :beerchug:
If anybody wants to bet let me know! nobody seems to reply in the betting threads they all full of big fishes betting in the millions
I will be surprised, not because khan cant but i dont think he will be willing to let his hands go enough to do so,one slip of concentration and it could be all over for him,if he does stop maidana it will be through accumulation late on
Fair point about his hands. I think it would be quite different from the Malignaggi fight. Khan will be pretty much forced to let loose a tad more but should work in his favour
I would be surprised and VERY pleased.
Thats good. Many people would probably be surprised and NOT be pleased simply because its Khan lmao
I really don't understand why so many fans think he won't KO Maidana. I'd actually be VERY suprised if Khan doesn't KO him. Khan by KO inside 6 rounds.
I hope that is true, certainly makes a statement
So most people think that Khan getting a straight PWill KO won't be surprising?, TKO more than likely.
Quite surprising if you ask me although I personally wouldn't rule it out
Anyone who thinks Khan hits hard should watch the last few rounds of the Kotelnik fight and look at how every punch Khan throws is an arm punch with nothing on it.
Not only will he not be able to knock Maidana out with his arm punches, but he won't even be able to get his respect ot keep him off for 5 rounds like Ortiz did.
All my points Khan > Maidana what you say
Already more people would be less surprised which is confusing me now lol. That's NOT what's been hyped on the forums. If anyone expects a Maidana KO/Khan UD - then they should be surprised.
Not a nice bet man. Why don't you bet signature picture change or something by agreeing on the pictures before hand and have to put them up for two months anything like that
Im in the uk so i dont know exactly when the weigh-in starts. any help will be much appreciated.
10:30 uk time. I made a thread on it earlier i think it called khan-maidana weigh in discussion or something. Its on Sky Sports News if you want to watch it on TV.
At the beginning of the weigh in stream, the British broadcast team interviewed Oscar. He CLEARLY wants Khan to win. Maidana is just an opponent in Oscar's eyes.
It's pretty obvious now that Khan can be a major ppv star if he plays his cards right
