Interesting fantasy fight, Cotto is a rough fighter whos not afraid to make it a war of will's. He also has very good timing and although past his prime and not the inside fighter he used to be has adopted a BOXER puncher style with the ability to head control on the inside very well. Maidana is a hard puncher that will give Cotto fits, like his overhand right which Mosely used very well against Cotto. Should be a very entertaining fight, where there will be no shortages of low blows and other "veteran" tactics.
The obvious choice here is not to vote at all. They'll get the message if us the fans who pay to see these events live or ppv stick together and boycott this bs. Boxing is a Fighting sport that is supposed to be competitive not a predetermined showing ill go watch a play for that.
Rios style is hell for someone who cant fight on the inside without lateral movement, with that being said Garcia has sound boxing skills with enough footwork to edge Rios. I cant see Garcia stopping him via Ko. Light fisted Abril took Rios undefeated mojo. Garcia is the fresher , smarter, and has the ability and skills to beat Rios. Trainers, now thats a different story.
Margarito would be like a 80's die cast metal diesel cars from Russia. Can take loads of abuse and maintain for well over 300k miles. Not the most responsive in steering but can "truck" over the newer cheap plastic cars.
Broner is like a box chevy on 30's with the loud sound system and tacky chrome accents. Great engine and possibility to tune it into a beast but lacking any performance out the factory to compete in your local drag.
Judah would be like an Rx7, fast with great handling but the rotors blow out the seals in 40k miles and are considered unreliable.
i think futbol (soccer for you guys) is worst in the hate department.
I agree
Theres been stadium size brawls in soccer, theyre known as barras, hooligans ect.
Boxing has its shares of foolishness but soccer takes it and its not even close.
Nothing against Prov and Alvarado but youre goint to evaluate Marquez career if he dosent fight them?
If he did fight them I dont think they offer anything to add prestige to his career. If anything they need him, but i would like to the Prov fight as he comes to win and comes forward making for a spectacular fight with the veteran Marquez.
Porter looked very determined to be a world champ against Alexander now that he's a champ, will he still bring that intensity and hunger to defend his world title? It would certainly create advantages for him that suit his style. Porter's bodywork will be key for him to win that fight, the "uglier" the fight is the more it will benefit Porter i think.Chavez did hurt Thurman to the body but Thurman has shown the ability to adapt from brawling to power boxing quite well as he did in his last fight against Karass. He also posses the ability to end the fight with a ko anytime. Karass showed in moments that Thurman is not as effective fighting going backwards instead he shines when hes first and lands his heavy hands. If Porter shows that he can handle Thurmans power he has a really good chance of winning this fight. Porter used to spar Pac so hes been in with someone with heavy hands and speed but it was sparring. I think this will be key as i don't recall Porter fighting a power puncher like Thurman. I slightly favor Porter taking it by decision in a trenchwar.
Neither.
He was being taught properly and that's why he was jabbing higher than his own head. You should always jab higher like that because it forces you to tuck your chin naturally into your own shoulder.
Watch videos of Victor Ortiz hit pads or shadow, he really exaggerates it. It just creates good habits. When you get in your stance, you should be lower than your shots to naturally tuck your chin into your shoulder and have a defensive stance when landing punches.
I was just thinking the same thing with Ortiz ....
Cotto brings the hype to this fight and is playing the favorite role. Cotto's the a side , fight is in MSG with the home town puerto rican crowd behind him. Martinez has def fought the bigger stronger dudes but does he have enough left in him after surgeries and rehab to keep fighting his style of fight..MArtinez is faster but Cotto has very good timing. If Cotto and Roach come in with the same gameplan as Rodriguez it will play into MArtinez style fi hes healthy enough to execute his style. Both of these guys are not at their best and should it be a close fight i would hate for the ny commission or the ref to ruin this fight. Ex , when they decided to step in and stop Cotto / Margo after Marg shifted the fights momentum to his favor, im not saying Margo would of won but you can def see the boxing politics at work. Im curious to see the fights details gloves, ring size weight ect
Floyd has been a pro boxer since the 90s's he has had a long career with a long time to build up and promote, and not only that but he has a public persona to add to everything not to mention he speaks english the only thing they have in common literally is how good and dominant they are, and nothing else . This has been discussed to nauseam already.
Repped
Precise and to the point
Trinidad's fought better opposition so far, but has shown a style weakness against boxers with a jab and lateral movement. Golovkin has really heavy handed combos but has not stepped in with the likes of the elite as Trinidad would be considered. Should there be an early KO i would favor Golovkin, i know im going on a limb here as he has never tasted Trinidads like power. should be interesting if Golovkin can holdup to Trinidads shots, and bring the jab to set up his offense. Trinidad edges to be favorite for me so far against Golovkin at this point.
At no point in this vid did Garcia referred to them as bums, hes stating that theyre populating the scene with fighters out of that region of the world.
i'll cheer for who ever wants it most. Prov's come forward style plays a little into Pac's speed ans power punching. Should pacquiao make it a toe to toe fight should be very fun to watch while it last if theres no headclashes and and that Ko comes. Manny's speed is really gonna hurt Prov late in the fight.
Rivalry ? Not yet , as the op has mentioned with Cuban bias.Theres been better fights between Mexicans. There is the possibility for top pick em fights. The Cuban guys are doing what they supposed to do .. try and fight the best guys or get the most profitable fights.
Absolutely right, the Nysac is very inconsistent to say the least. The knee brace recently in the Cotto/ Martinez fight was another lets make up rules as we go type. Even fighters calling the shots on which gloves you can and can't wear nowadays.
Mexico has great talent with solid players but they seem to lack that finishing touch to score, too many close calls with missed clear opportunities. Mexico has so much support for their team its no surprises the spanish channel revolves around "El Tri" which makes up the largest latino population in 'Merica, this is so evident during matches in the U.S against Mexico. Also has anyone noticed all the missed calls "for" Mexico, Dos Santos gets 2 goals nulled against Ghana. The clear handballs against Croatia, one inside the penalty box. Also i remember against Brazil there was a offside player that "headed" the ball and the ref waited for the play to finish only to call offside after a missed opportunity which looked really weird.
Look at Uruguays first match then look at them with Suarez, i know hes a loose cannon but that guy probably makes the most impact on his team than any other superstar.
Messi is a superstar with the skills to back it up, he's taking Argentina on his back and his goals are nothing short of amazing.
Ochoa has been a brick wall and countered Neymar's offence along with Brazil and made Croatia look lackluster.
Messi takes my vote.
So many to choose from.
Well, you can start with the man himself in the Calzaghe fight. "I"ll never lose to a white boy." The way he fought making up fouls was worst acting or better you can say than soccer players or Lebron nowadays.
Or will he try to outbox the boxer in the fight like he tried to outbox Mayweather instead of going from being a 4 cylinder to a v8?
Do you guys think Canelo would actually outbox Lara at a slower pace or would you prefer to see him pushing forward constantly and throwing with Lara in a way similar to how he jumped on Angulo early.
Every time Canelo fights he has shown to improve an aspect of his game, vs Trout he shown great waist movement improving defense, vs Angulo he showed his speed/power combinations. Against Lara he's going to have to show better footwork imo.
I'd like to see him close the gap with feints, head movement and using his footwork to get close to Lara. Not really be more aggressive offensively, rather work his way in using footwork and feints and counterpunch accurately.
Canelo seems to take punches better in these higher weights than before. Trout never hurt Canelo in their fight but kept his distance very well for most of the fight and was tagging Canelo with straight shots.
Lara is also a southpaw like Trout and moves better but has been hurt by Angulo who was really never in the fight against CAnelo.
Does Lara have the power to hurt Canelo?? This is key to keep Canelo resetting and making him think ala the Mayweather fight.
Canelo will have to close the gap alot sooner than what he did against Trout so he can land those hard combinations. The upppercut was working for him against Trout but he does not use his legs for defense like Lara. Big props to Canelo for taking this fight which is not a easy given win.
He will have to show an upgraded version of what hes done so far, or he catches Lara trading with hard hooks and KO's him early.
LOL that's completely inaccurate, did you even watch boxing back then? At that time Berto was considered a top fighter with a lot of potential who was gearing up to face the likes of Mayweather, Mosley and Cotto (hence why Floyd was in attendance). Ortiz spoiled those plans though and he got the Floyd fight. Both guys are absolute shit now and both should consider retirement IMO.
What the hell are you talking about?
Both guys at the time, especially Berto was seen as elite at the welterweight division. Ortiz winning was a major upset..
Damn it's crazy how people just don't what they talking about but talking like they do.
You guys are correct, Berto was an undefeated Mayweather prospect. Nobody really gave Ortiz a chance after that Maidana performance. I cant remember Berto facing a hard puncher like Ortiz before he fought him. Berto had been down by an unknown, so i knew Ortiz always had a punchers chance but i was surprised at the fight it turned out to be.
Recently watched Ortiz vs Berto again and what a fight... Decided to make a HL video. If you haven't seen this fight yet I highly recommend it. Enjoy! :boxing:
This fight had it all to make it a classic. At the time people were talking about these fighters like they were way over the hill and out and was seen as a crossroad fight for both.
This fight showed what a motivated and focused Ortiz was capable of. Ortiz overcame adversity and took some serious punishment from a hard hitting Berto to win and prove alot of people wrong in that fight.
Props to Berto for not only finishing the fight but making it competitive after what looked to be a early blowout. They both left it in the ring that night. Berto never seemed the same after this fight.
Certainly a very memorable fight.
Andre Ward Carl Froch?
Froch is second best and is content in being a prizefighter rather than rematching Ward.
Ward clearly beat Froch. Ward's inactivity is hurting him more than his fight against Froch.
Experienced really showed that night. Tito imposed his fight early and when he was in trouble he got the better shots on Vargas below the belt. You can see the momentum of the fight changing and sure enough Tito would hit Vargas below the belt. I cant say Vargas would of beat Tito but those shots below the belt Vargas received physically damaged , stopped his momentum, and changed the fight without a doubt.
Southpaw vs conventional , usually you're worried about head clashes i cant remember fighters injuring themselves because of a knee clash. In any case theyre just messing with Martinez now and making themselves sound like fools while doing it. Whatever works i guess.
