not only is rogondeaux a 122 lber in his mid 30's, he could make 118. he's freaking tiny.
algieri isn't a tiny guy. he's a freaking nutritionist, and drops a lot of weight to be a 140 lber.
rigondeaux would give up half a foot in height. probably more. lots of reach, too.
he's a great, great boxer, but he'd have a ton of trouble at 140 lbs. let's not get crazy.
Rigo vs Crawford at 135 :D
I think Donaire should move upto 135 and test the waters, he likes his power and he's maybe an inch shorter than Pacman, if it pays off he can rule the roost lol
I think if Rigo fought a 140 pounder he would be foolish to even try to make it up to 140. He wouldn't add power but he would lose speed and stamina. He should just come in at about 127 pounds or so. He can really ad any muscle because he is already very muscular. Muscles gained from lifting heavy weights don't help a boxer or increase his speed and power. More likely heavy weight lifting would tighten a boxer up and slow his punches down in my opinion. Anyway Rigo would never fight a 140 pounder. He says he makes 122 with ease and comfort because of a very high metabolism. He won't even consider fighting at 126.
Yeah i agree, which is why i scoffed at the idea of rigo putting on that much weight.
After i commented on this thread i found an article that said hed fight at 126 and 130 and even go down to 118, which is good because there isnt much for him at 122. It gives him a few options.
Rigo cuts like what? 4 lbs to make sbw? Hed have to put on 15 lbs of muscle just to get to 140. Even at lw hed be at a weight disadvantage.
I think rigo should move up, but not to 140, thats too high.

Algeri is in perfect shape at 140 while Rigo is in perfect shape at 122. That's a huge amount of weight to give up for fighters that small. Algeri is 4 weight classes bigger but Rigo is a great fighter and Algeri is just a pretty good fighter. I guess I would pick Rigo to win on points but I'm not sure about it at all. Algeri also has a big reach advantage and he knows how to use his reach with long straight punches.

I'd pick Rigo as well, people put too much stock on size, act like the weight differential is gonna cause a decapitation. Always said Rigo can beat guys considerably bigger than himself granted he fights disciplined, which he does as well as anybody. Doesn't have to be Algieri alone, he can have a lot of success at '30 and '35.
Algieri is a barely reasonable 140lb fighter with a very basic skillset, no pop what so ever or strength. He wouldn't even try impose his size advantage, its not in his DNA
I ain't joking, Rigo f*cks that boy up
Donaire is a fair sized lightweight, he is almost Algieri's size and twice the fighter.
Rigo UD
Size difference, weight difference, what could Algieri do? He ain't outboxing Rigo.
Lets be honest here if Rigo wanted he could go up and clean out 126, 130 with ease, few guys at 135 might cause a few issues tbf Vasquez, Abril, etc but then again they would completely shut out Algieri.
