I believe this would be one of the closest fight to pick from in recent history. I believe this fight would be an entertaining fight and it will give the fans a real treat for the summer. I do believe Martinez will take the fight by Split decision, even though he didn't really look good and is coming off an injury. I believe Cotto has been in too many battles and his last showing against an ok fighter is not enough to convince me that he can beat Martinez.
I Know Boxing :boxing: :boxing:
too many people are sleeping on Cotto here. Cotto is the best all around fighter Sergio Martinez has ever faced. the guys that have beaten Miguel Cotto have done so with volume and pressure. Even Trout and Mayweather had to out throw him to win. Sergio is very hittable. He doesnt have the defensive capabilities of Floyd or Trout. Sergio has never faced a fighter like Cotto so to think he will be able to do the same things he did to chavez is silly. Cotto is much better defensively than chavez, hes much faster than Chavez, he has much more experience than Chavez, hes also much smarter than chavez. Cotto's footwork is vastly underrated. He will get inside and when he does Martinez will wish that he didn't have that height and reach advantage. Cotto tko under 10
I think the big question here is how Maravilla has come back from injury and layoff and how much age has taken from him.. the Sergio that boxed snot outta Junior a year and a half-ago beats Cotto fairly handily IMO.
Cotto's no walkover even for a bigger guy, but unless Maravilla's regressed significantly, he uses movement to keep away from Cottos pressure and hurts him with quick attacks. Cottos no plodder but even if he catches Sergio, Maravilla is more than capable of tearing it up with the top end of the MW division when he needs to.
It's a good and interesting fight, but a Maravilla even close to his old self wins IMO.
Gotta gives props to both guys tho...Maravilla for jumping back in at the deep end, Cotto for taking the legacy gamble (not that they each won't be rewarded in other, more tangible, ways).
Good close fight, too tough to pick a winner. Super hyped about this one this is the best big fight scheduled this year imo. Gladly paying for this fight two tough sob's.
I will also purchase this great fight. I got Maravilla
By lasting all 12 rounds without taking a knee
Let's recap... the only occasion where King Cotto dropped to his knee, the person administering the shots in that bout subsequently was caught using plaster bricks in his following fight... So I wonder if you have any insight if Sergio uses bricks in his gloves as well? I mean why else would you make such an asinine comment?
In this fight, people will quickly realize why Mayweather and Pacquiao are not going up to the higher weight classes. The punches take a very heavy toll.
I can't get the Trout fight out of my head. And while Martinez is not a volume puncher by nature, he can be if it is necessary (over 900 punches thrown in the Chavez fight). I don't see how Cotto will deal with Martinez's movement and power. One of Trout's key punches against Cotto was the straight left to the body, which Martinez loves to use.
Not disagreeing. I see what you are saying. I got faith in my boy that's all.
Why in the world would Cotto take this fight if he didn't think he had a chance to win this fight?? Some people say he might not even win a round?? Get real...
Cotto will surprise you all and get the win...fight Canelo next and win that fight then rematch Mayflower and give him his first lost..retire, Game Over...next stop HOF
Warrrrr Cotto
Cotto does better against fighters that don't pressure. Martinez is fast but his not exactly a volume puncher. I think Cotto will be able to deal with that type of speed. And he has great timing , good speed , works well behind a jab that I think will be key in this fight. Setting up other punches and taking Martinez out of rhythm with it.

Not really. As I said, why do you think Cotto will do well?

You were clearly trying to insinuate that I'm stupid enough to get drunk and catch myself on fire. Even if you weren't, you made it about me, not Cotto and Martinez. Why do you think Cotto will surprise people?
Are you being serious?
Lmaooo , please tell me what exactly insulted you???

I thought this thread was about Cotto and Martinez. I must have missed the part where it became about insulting other people.

I've seen 250 pound women in retreats walk through fire.
Hardly impressive.
I’ve wrestled with alligators,
I’ve tussled with a whale.
I done handcuffed lightning
And throw thunder in jail.
You know I’m bad.
just last week, I murdered a rock,
Injured a stone, Hospitalized a brick.
I’m so mean, I make medicine sick.
I'm guessing you also ran by a bong fire drunk.
