Richard Schaefer announced on Ringside yesterday that Shawn Porter and Keith Thurman are looking to fight in the spring time, before the mandatory, Kell Brook, gets his shot at the title in June.
This is news to me, first of all. Has any of you guys heard about it?
And who wins?

keith's best win was jesus soto karass.
didn't he lose to alfonso gomez?? lol, people are already acting like thurman has beaten pacquiao, mayweather, GGG, and wladimir klitschko all in one night blindfolded with one arm tied behind his back. thurman is good, but still unproven at this point!!
Stylistically I think this is a tough fight for Thurman. Can't call it.
Pretty much this. Porter is a problem for literally any WW on this planet. As is Thurman.
Only part that sucks is, one of them has to lose.
I got Porter on points if this fight happens. Thurman has been using his legs pretty good his last couple fights but i don't think he can keep a pitbull like Porter off of him for 12 rounds.
Porter's a beast now that he hooked up with Victor Conte.
I don't like reading things like that, but yeah. Still, big shots from Thurman could slow him down. Thurman's punches don't tickle, it's not wise to come forward into them.
Its a tough match to predict, i think Porter can get the Decision because his style could give Thurman problems, but hey thurman can punch thats for sure.
Winner of this fight its gonna get to the next level in boxing, fighting big names and earning big big money so i am sure it will be a great fight both guys will be motivated.
There's going to be a lot of guys with Porter in their sights now. That belt may as well be a target on his back.
So long as Alexander doesn't get a rematch, I'm happy.
I am going with Porter by decision in this one. I really hope this fight gets made. I like the way Thurman makes the adjustments as the fight goes in the championship rounds. This fight is a 50/50 fight.
I would pick Porter to swarm Thurman and defeat him by points. Anyboy can be a big puncher when you are beating up tomato cans. Porter would be the first real test of Thurman's career.
I think Thurman has beaten a harder foe in Karass, Porter is good but he is too small, his only advantage against someone who hits hard and can box a bit is his activity but that won't count for much. It works against someone like Alexander and would probably work against Broner but against the likes of Thurman and Maidana, no.
This is going to be a bit of an easy fight for Thurman. But I hope Porter wins, he seems like an ok guy.
I hear some talk about Porter's body work but going to the body leaves him opened. And what about Thurman's body work?

Porter looked very determined to be a world champ against Alexander now that he's a champ, will he still bring that intensity and hunger to defend his world title? It would certainly create advantages for him that suit his style. Porter's bodywork will be key for him to win that fight, the "uglier" the fight is the more it will benefit Porter i think.Chavez did hurt Thurman to the body but Thurman has shown the ability to adapt from brawling to power boxing quite well as he did in his last fight against Karass. He also posses the ability to end the fight with a ko anytime. Karass showed in moments that Thurman is not as effective fighting going backwards instead he shines when hes first and lands his heavy hands. If Porter shows that he can handle Thurmans power he has a really good chance of winning this fight. Porter used to spar Pac so hes been in with someone with heavy hands and speed but it was sparring. I think this will be key as i don't recall Porter fighting a power puncher like Thurman. I slightly favor Porter taking it by decision in a trenchwar.
both guys are just coming into their own now
love Porter for beating the twat, but it's not enough
Thurman is a puncher but he's got a little polish to him
not the kinda guy you expect any boxer to beat easily
hadn't thought about this fight, but it sounds good
would go with Thurman, but on points in a good fight
I've not seen Porter for the moment, but Thurman has showed some worrying vulnerabilities against Chaves and Soto Karass. Both rocked him in the first rounds. He showed heart against adversity and proved he can adjust, but I'm not sure what will happen when his level of competition goes up.
Exactly. Thurman always looks like he is open to be hit and I don't like it.
