Vitali would have put a hellacious beating on him
George liked to come forward and be the bully
Vitali had the better footspeed and was an expert at using his full length to make it very difficult to get close. Inside he's got 40lbs on a prime "Big George" so even when Foreman gets past Vitali jab (which he will be eating flush all night) Vitali won't find it difficult to tie him up and bully the bully.
Foreman was fucking slow and plodding, he had big power of course but realistically I don't see a huge power gap between him and Lennox Lewis and Foreman isn't going to land anywhere near as much as Lewis but he will eat just as many punches as Lewis did if not more.
Theres a reason you don't see fighters like "big" George these days and it's because they don't go very far.
1. Usyk
2. Fury
3. Zhang
4. Joshua
5. Wilder
6. Hrgovic
7. Makmudov
8. Parker
9. Wallin
10. Sanchez
Fury is lucky not to fall lower than 2 in my rankings after that Ngannou debacle but do i really think Zhang or AJ beat a 100% motivated fury who trains properly? Probably not.
Joyce exits the top 10 after his two brutal beatings, because I have no idea what he will have left, but could easily re-enter if he looks OK in his next fight similar to Wilder and Parker taking bad losses but still looking fairly decent In Their comebacks.
Theres a fair bit of talent in that top 10,the issue with the is era isnt a lack of quality it's a lack of fights. Most of the guys on that list have only fought 1 other person on it!
Personally I think teo messed up against Kambosos and lomachenko messed up against Haney
Poor tactical approaches by both.
I think Teo and loma are quite well matched
I wasn't the biggest fan of his, and I did think at the time he was overrated, because a lot of his fanboys used to try and sneak him into the same class as Floyd and Pacquiao, when he was very obviously in that tier below with Mosley and Margarito etc. Also he got lucky with his win against Martinez that Martinez was as shot as David Haye vs Tony Bellew but again, his fanboys celebrated like it was a legitimate win.
That said there's no doubt Cotto was an exceptional fighter, there was a lot to like about his style in the ring, and he always looked to challenge himself.
I appreciate him and his library of fights more now that his fanboys have long gone.
Prince Turki was FURIOUS after wilders "performance" against Parker.
He told Wilder to go back to America, PBC might pay for that rubbish but we don't do that here in the kingdom.
Canelo might be slowing down he's had a long career.
But I've seen him go from 147 all the way to 175 winning titles all along the way.
It's unrealistic for him to be fighting at 175 and I don't understand why he got so much hate when he tried to campaign there and Bivol proved too much for him?
He took on crazy risks and he gave it his all, what more do you people fucking want.
I've rarely seen perception of a fighter shift so rapidly after a decision loss especially one where the guy was giving away huge physical advantages.
Canelo vs Bivol is the prime example of why fighters in boxing are risk averse.
Canelo loses in a very dangerous fight and boxing fans go "see he's a bum, he's a coward, he was never any good, all his other wins are meaningless, he should just do everyone a favour and die, his wife's a slag, I hope his kids get aids"
It's madness, then fans complain that these guys don't take risks, can you blame them?
I had Ngannou slightly ahead on the night, I wasn't really scoring properly because I was so stunned by what I was seeing.
There was a lot (eight) close rounds where very little happened so I can't call it a robbery, because I can see how you could make a case for Fury edging it by taking most of the dull rounds.
The most shocking thing to me was Fury's lack of urgency going into the last couple of rounds, he looked to me almost like he almost mentally quit and was just happy to go the distance, ur was really embarrasing.
It gets even worse when you consider that Ngannou won more rounds vs Fury than Wilder, a guy with 10 heavyweight title defences.
But it tells the story to me, boxers are getting fat and lazy on these big easy paydays, not taking risks, not fighting each other, boxing is getting soft, MMA is still a cauldron where no fighter is allowed to play it safe, they are tougher men.
That "guy who makes videos for a living" has been training boxing seriously for 5-6 years with access to high end resources, sparring partners, coaching etc. And which champions did he beat?
As far as the other comment about the lower weight classes. I dont think any MMA guys could challenge Inoue, Bud etc level fighters obviously but I wouldnt be surprised if some of the better MMA boxers could beat a few guys in the top 30 even in the better divisions. Its not exactly inconceivable that someone like Max Holloway could outbox lets say Ekow Essuman is it?
It should be inconceivable I think that's the point.
Boxing simply doesn't have any reason to exist if top MMA guys are able to start coming into boxing and outboxing good boxers or even worse, boxing champions.
We already know MMA fighters would literally kill boxers in a cage or on the street, if boxers can't even beat them at boxing just close the sport down because it's pointless.
Obviously very good but also he doesn't get hit flush often at all and I don't think I've ever seen him hit flush from a big puncher.
AJ never caught him clean, he landed some nice jabs, a few cuffing blows, skimmed his chin once or twice with power but never connected clean with anything big.
Fury landed a few clean shots but isn't a big puncher, Otto Wallin stood up to more punishment from fury than Usyk did and he's obviously not that robust.
Usyk's best attribute is riding shots and deflecting power punches, he doesn't have a defence on the level of a mayweather, he is open to jabs etc but when it comes to big power shots he reads them really well and always takes the sting off them. If I was training someone to fight him I'd put super focus on the jab because I think an elite jabber could potentially have a field day with usyk, someone like a Larry Holmes or Lennox Lewis would probably land 25 plus jabs a round on him, hurtful jabs.
I'll give him an A for chin, that would go up to an A+ if I saw him eat a proper power shot on the chin from AJ or Zhang or someone like that.
I've answered you before on a similar question but esse tally it comes down to upbringing and lifestyle over the last few decades.
If you grow up in a rough, horrible place and are trained like a soldier through your childhood you probably are going to be better than someone who grew up in an OK place and went to the boxing club once a week after school as a kid.
I have it on good authority that he is packing some serious glass, supposedly he's been put over quite a few times in sparring during exchanges so he fights a cautious, low risk style which is the effective and sensible thing to do to be honest.
Sure Leicesterage
When will you man up ???
Keep watching others follower
I don't know who leisterage is but man whatever he did he sure seared himself into your subconscious didn't he
No, I just felt sorry for him and it was painful to watch.
I didn't, he seemed like he enjoyed being Ko'd
I've heard speculation that it excited him
SEXUALLY
For those saying retirement…
It’s clear that these Ukrainian guys can stay looking like they’re in their prime even in their late 30s. Wlad, Vitali, Lomachenko have shown this. And Usyk didn’t look like he lost a step vs AJ.
So idk about that. I think Usyk can probably fight until like 40. So can Lomachenko.
Usyk has been taking breaks in his last couple of fights, he's gotten away with it, but many more miles on the clock and one of the younger guys is going to notice that and take advantage of it.
Usyk is only slightly younger than Klitschko was when he started looking human against Jennings. And he doesn't have a division where he can defend against extremely limited guys like Wlad and Vitali did in their late 30s.
That's a naive perspective. Sonny liston got entangled with the maffia and had no choice, supposedly.
I just said it's not super common and you pointed out one fight in the 50s.
I didn't say it never happens.
I think it's very rare.
More common is things such as wining and dining referees and judges and maintaining good relationships with them. Promoters will take referees out for fancy meals, put them up in luxury hotels etc so you know they are gonna favour a certain fighter because they want to be staying in the Hilton luxury suite again next time and flying Emirates first class!
A lot of times if the away fighter isn't wealthy, their travel arrangements are taken care of by the main fight promoter, the klitschkos were known for booking opponents into hotel rooms opposite a noisy construction site and things like this, anything to get an edge.
Additionally you get fighters who are just turning up for a paycheck, don't belive they can win and don't try to win, that happens all the time.
But as far as getting money to lay down, I don't think it's super common because usually, if fighting someone who has the financial clout to do that, the guy being offered it can make more money by winning.
i remember the vlad haye matchup
vlad sent david down some narrow walkway on his ringwalk right beside the crowd who were literally tripping him on his way down to the ring, i didnt know at the time but haye had a sore swollen pinky toe as well lol
vlad came down some big walkway no bother at all, funny stuff
It sort of went a bit under the radar but yeah Berne Bonte who ran K2 promotions was always looking for every little niggly thing he could find to add annoyance or unsettle the away fighter, it kind of culminised in the bouncy castle ring they tried to use for the fury fight which they used because they knew Wlad was a lot more flat footed than Fury
Makes me wonder what else there was that we didn't hear about during lads reign, I actually want to go rewatch the Haye fight to see if they used it in that lol.
You can't argue that Wilder is better than AJ. Not anymore.
You just can't.
It's true and I was one of those people having to defend this view for years against the Wilder fanboys.
Wilders fans annoyed the hell out of me, but still I'm not going to act ignorant and say that Wilder was a bum or anything like that.
Charles Martin, Ruslan Chagaev, Nikolai Valuev, Berman Stiverne, that's 4 world champions I can recall in the last 20 years who were easily worse than Wilder.
Wilder is a rangey, athletic heavyweight with insane power, good stamina and a lot of heart, that's enough to grade him at least a B+ in my opinion.
He could lose 11.99 rounds against Usyk and clean him out, like stretcher style in the last second of the fight, you can't sleep on that.

Quite curious if having to many uncollaborative promotions like PBC, GBP and Top Rank just made it difficult for American heavyweight boxing amateurs think it is not a lucrative option.
Despite being Heavyweights, if there is not fight that is a noteworthy draw under the same promotion, they won't get compensated as well as the fighters from the lighter weight classes that are getting those kinds of opportunities while not getting hit by CTE damaging shots by other heavyweights.
Just wouldn't know if it be worth it. Andy Ruiz was already planning retirement and somehow hit the lottery when Miller pulled out against AJ.
Those guys are behind the death of American boxing.
Arum is as crooked as they come and won't play ball.
Al Sharpton keeps running out of other people's money to spend and makes crap fights.
Oscar is literally a cocaine addict who makes important business decisions while coked put of his mind
Change may be on horizon because if Prince Turkey decides he wants to put those three out of business, it will happen, so it's time to see if these guys can sharpen up and play ball because otherwise they'll all be gone in the next couple of years.
I just watched the NFL Draft. To me those are the strongest and fastest athletes on the planet.
It's an easier route to the NFL/NBA and those guys are signing $150 - $200 Million Dollar deals now.
The NFL and NBA have taken the Heavyweight Champ athletes from America.
No other athletes can compete with America best imo.
So what you are saying is that the standard of athlete in the NFL/NBA is so poor, that the guys playing in it are not naturally gifted in those sports, they are just big, all round athletes that could be pretty good at any sport they picked?
Thats basically what that argument is saying.
I disagree and I think the guys at the top end in those sports are specialists who are naturally gifted and have attributes that shine in those particular sports.
I do not think you could get 10 year old LeBron James and turn him into the heavyweight champion, he's a natural at basketball, he's probably not a natural at boxing, and at heavyweight if you aren't a natural you will get chinned by a fat blob like Andy Ruiz no matter what sort of athletic shape you are in.
Andy Ruiz would put LeBron in the hospital. And any nfl player as well.
Get one of those 450lb ripped to shreds 100 meters in 6 seconds nfl guys and put them in the ring with Andy Ruiz and they will get sent to the shadow realm
There's a lot of factors.
1. The eastern Euros DEFINATLEY make a difference because the division is much more difficult now
2. Culture has shifted, the ghettos have almost all been gentrified and the west has a pu55ified society now
3. MMA takes a lot of talent as its way more popular with kids and so more likely to get into that
I think those are the main 3, also things are cyclical, the USA may find heavyweight clones of Mike a Tyson and Riddick Bowe in a year or two and then you can all talk about how the heavyweight division is great again. An American heavyweight will be number 1 again at some point
Make heavyweight great again
MHGA!
Never forget Al Haymon convinced Wilder to turn down 100 million dollars to fight for 4 million instead and Luis Ortiz to turn down 7 million pounds to fight for 1 million dollars
I'll never know what Uncle Al has over these guys.
