People saying there is no money in a Forrest fight must be crazy. Any Oscar fight can generate millions. Wasn't De La Hoya vs Yory Boy Campos a PPV?
Anything Oscar touches turns gold, even still today. As far as I'm concerned De La Hoya should have fought Forrest years ago. Ironically, it is the most compelling fight for him out there today, and it's a fight that can be made.

It plays much better in Media Player.
Lets not forget who they were against.
Very true, they weren't world beaters at all. I used that statement to reflect that fact that Judah can punch. And if an opponent shouldn't be in the ring with him, it becomes abundantly clear early in the fight. Cotto only has 1 first round KO which isn't indicative of the type of power he has, but more so of the fact that he's late starter.
I should have touched on the fact that when Judah has an opponent hurt, he finishes them. Very few opponents survived after Judah has them on queer street. And out of the 39 fights, 30+ have been knocked down. And I feel Cotto will be put down on Saturday, possibly early.
i think soto is going to rip bobby an new asshole. nothing against bobby but soto is not only good, but that cat gets mean inside the ropes.
this ought to be a awesome fight, both these guys come to fight, no pussy footing around, they both come to go to war.
i just think style wise, experience wise, and skill wise soto has bobby beat.
you can't compare their hearts though because both guys are the type to leave it all in the ring. this fight very well could be a candidate for fight of the year, pending on how it unfolds..............
I, too, think Soto wins this one. I think he boxes Bobby's ears off.
Actually to beat a fast figher you go to the body and dig. If a fighter wants to use his wheels, then you let the air out of the tires. The moving target becomes stationary and then you can destroy him.
Yeah if the Zab that fought Spinks and Corley turns up then its a easy night for Zab!!!
Exactly. If Zab respects your boxing ability then he will be fully prepared for you. He's definitely prepared and in shape for this fight considering that fact that it could be his last hurrah. Make no mistake about it he's skilled enough to KO his opponents from rounds 1 to 12, and he has the ability to box (when in shape).
Everyone can see he is hungry. Remember this is the guy who took a $100,000 purse to fight Cory Spinks (for the Undisputed Championship) in his own hometown, while Spinks made $1,200,000. We all saw the results. And it isn't as if Spinks can't take a punch. He took some good shots from Ricardo Mayorga, Roman Karmazin, and Jermain Taylor. All of those fighters can punch, so that shows you what type of pop Zab is working with. Let's not forget the 7+ first round KOs on his ledger.
The question is not can Zab outbox Cotto because he can. The question is can Cotto take Zab's best shots. Both of those guys have shaky chins, but we all know whose chin will be touched first. It's an interesting fight to say the least. Both guys have the ability to win. I just happen to think Zab will win.
Thoughts on Thompson-Foreman are as follows...
It began as a tactical fight with Foreman boxing on the move trying to find his rhythm. Foreman moved a little more than you would like him to. And as the exchanges took place it was Thompson scoring with cleaner short hooks and crosses. This continued for a couple of rounds with Foreman continuing to move too much. As the rounds progressed you could see the movement frustrating Thompson as Foreman refused to engage.
In the second half of the fight, Foreman made an adjustment. I normally give fighters credit for their ability to adjust, especially in a difficult situation. However, the adjustment made by Foreman consisted of lots of holding. But, you have to give him some credit as he took Thompson completely out of his gameplan.
In the late rounds, there was more holding, and even more holding and hitting. And the little clean punching that took place was scored by Thompson. Sadly, in the end they gave to the fight to Yuri Foreman by SD. I scored it 6 rounds to 4 for Thompson.
But, the fight was so damn boring no one will put up much of a fuss about it. I'm just glad it's over. Bring on Soto-Pacquiao.
I got Ndou winning a decision in a hard fought 12 rounder. He's too strong for Malignaggi. It's a tough fight for Paulie. It's a fight where he will see himself getting countered on the inside. Paulie can win this fight if he is in GREAT shape though.
JUST acting?? So the guy got hit low.... by a power puncher...he instantly goes down in obvious pain.... and you think he just decided in one millisecond to stay down and milk the moment? It wasn't because he was in pain???? Let Cotto hit you low and see if your mind is still sharp enough three seconds later to decide to go into a live television drama performance so the judges will feel sorry for you
Exactly. It's not like Judah can train his dick to take power shots while in training camp. What's wrong with these people? It wouldn't be an illegal punch if it didn't have a major effect. Low blows, rabbit punches, and head butts all take the fight out of a person. Some people can't recover at all. Zab should get everyone's respect after enduring that crap.
I don't think it's winnable. Skill wise...yes, but Floyd would be too scared to get hit flush by a large middleweight. The little punches Oscar connected on Floyd swole up the right side of his face. Imagine what a true 160lber would do. Pot shotting wouldn't work with a guy that large IMO.
It was a great fight. Two warriors going at it. Both had their moments. This fight showed that Duran wasn't just a brawler, but a thinking boxer when faced with a tricky, or unusual style. I thought Duran kicked his ass. I didn't think it was close.
Floyd has proven himself for years. He's the best fighter in the world. He's trying to make as much cash as possible. Like he says, it's takes two to sell a PPV. Nothing drives high PPV numbers like two named fighters. Face it, the boxing hardcore are the only people who know Margarito. Floyd can't make the money that wants by fighting Margarito. Let's put it like this.... If he fights a guy, in November, for less than 8 million, then he's obviously ducking Antonio Margarito. Money talks. And if he rejects 8 million to fight Margarito, and fights some stiff it becomes quite obvious that he's ducking him. It isn't obvious as of yet.
Face it, Mayweather has options. That's what it boils down to. Margarito doesn't have options, however he does have the support of Top Rank. People are basically accusing Floyd of ducking Margarito because theywant Floyd to fight him.
Floyd is the established #1 p4p fighter in the world. He's been on the p4p list for years, and he fought alot of good fighters. Margarito, though viewed by the hardcore as badass, hasn't beaten anyone to establish himself as the man at 147lbs. Yes, he's a monster, and I love the way the guy fights, but we all know how it goes in boxing. Stop giving these guys Godlike status before even proving themselves once.
If Kermit Cintron is the biggest name on your resume, then you are NOT the man to beat at 147lbs. Because Cintron was a product of hype and was fed bums prior to fighting Margarito. I think Margarito is a really solid, tough titlist.
This situation reminds me of when Mayweather was champion at 130lbs. Everybody in the media, and boxing hardcore began putting pressure on Floyd to fight Diego Corrales. Corrales began to establish himself when he upset then IBF champion Roberto Garcia. That victory alone should have gotten Corrales a shot at Floyd, as Garcia was solid. However, it took Corrales to beat Angel Manfredy to get a shot at Floyd Mayweather Jr. It's not that Manfredy was a better fighter than Garcia (he wasn't), it was because Manfredy had a name in boxing at the time. Plus, Chico won the fight in impressive fashion.
So, I pretty much understand why Floyd says for Margarito to fight another champion, because Margarito doesn't deserve to be on PPV. What was it, 30,000 PPV buys in his debut on PPV? That shit was barely $29.99 and people still didn't buy it.
Even Karmazin and his seconds knew they were behind on points. Spinks was dead tired by the halfway point in 9, but he clearly had a lead going into the championship rounds. 115-113 twice, and 114-114 are good scores and it reflects what happened tonight in St. Louis. Nothing contraversial about it.
I think Guzman will make a statement in this fight. Barrios has alot of heart, and he is relentless. That being said, Guzman by KO, possibly early. I feel Barrios will come right at Guzman and that will be a big mistake. A mistake that won't be able to be corrected on that night. For I feel he will get hurt early, and possibly get stopped around 4 or 5.
People are kidding themselves believing Hatton will fight Witter. He's been saying he would fight witter for years and years now. He said he wanted to fight him when he was with Frank Warren. Then he said he would fight Witter when he left Frank Warren. Then Hatton said he would fight Witter once Junior won a world title. Then he said would fight Witter when the US TV networks were interested in seeing Witter showcase his talents. For the better part of ten years it has been one excuse after another. Hatton is/has been ducking Junior Witter his whole career. I'm sick of Ricky Hatton.
He fought 30+ bums to get a world title shot. Fine. Young fighters need seasoning to compete on the world level. But, once you fight Collazo, Castillo, and Mayweather, you don't go back to fighting Lazcano. Lazcano isn't ranked in the top 15 of the WBA, WBO, or IBF and isn't ranked in the top 40 of the WBC. He's only ranked as a top 10 fighter by Ring Magazine probably because he's promoted by Golden Boy promotions (The owner of the magazine).
