I really don't think that Floyd is ducking Margarito. Margarito has never faced the opposition of Floyds. Honestly I think that Floyd wil do exactly what hed did to Corrales in their fight and get knocked out. I wish this fight would happen so allof you Floyd hatters can see how good he really is even though Margarito is completely overated.
Face it, Mayweather has options. That's what it boils down to. Margarito doesn't have options, however he does have the support of Top Rank. People are basically accusing Floyd of ducking Margarito because theywant Floyd to fight him.
Floyd is the established #1 p4p fighter in the world. He's been on the p4p list for years, and he fought alot of good fighters. Margarito, though viewed by the hardcore as badass, hasn't beaten anyone to establish himself as the man at 147lbs. Yes, he's a monster, and I love the way the guy fights, but we all know how it goes in boxing. Stop giving these guys Godlike status before even proving themselves once.
If Kermit Cintron is the biggest name on your resume, then you are NOT the man to beat at 147lbs. Because Cintron was a product of hype and was fed bums prior to fighting Margarito. I think Margarito is a really solid, tough titlist.
This situation reminds me of when Mayweather was champion at 130lbs. Everybody in the media, and boxing hardcore began putting pressure on Floyd to fight Diego Corrales. Corrales began to establish himself when he upset then IBF champion Roberto Garcia. That victory alone should have gotten Corrales a shot at Floyd, as Garcia was solid. However, it took Corrales to beat Angel Manfredy to get a shot at Floyd Mayweather Jr. It's not that Manfredy was a better fighter than Garcia (he wasn't), it was because Manfredy had a name in boxing at the time. Plus, Chico won the fight in impressive fashion.
So, I pretty much understand why Floyd says for Margarito to fight another champion, because Margarito doesn't deserve to be on PPV. What was it, 30,000 PPV buys in his debut on PPV? That shit was barely $29.99 and people still didn't buy it.
That says it all for me. Margarito would be crazy not to challenge Floyd. What does he stand to lose... nothing. What does he stand to gain... everything. A loss gives Margarito better recognition to the casual boxing fan and it doesn't hurt because he wasn't supposed to win. If he is competitive that is the equivalent of an impressive win against his other options. If he wins, then he becomes "the man" and not just at 147. His options become endless. So obviously Margarito and Top Rank want the fight, the question is what does Floyd have to gain other than money that he could make 5 different ways?

another thing also about floyd, is that ppl ask things like:
will anyone come close to beating him?...
and i think...wtf, he only beat judah by a couple rounds or so, he was gifted a decision against castillo, etc, he did clean up gatti and corrales,,,,but he hasn't just steamrolled through all of his opponents.....
i rate kostya tszyu a lot higher as he fought all the other champs and he KTFO them....and challenged and fought all top fighters.....
mayweater needs to fight another 5 top fights to reach the stature of KT in my opinion.
From my recollection, Judah only won 4 rounds, a couple sound more like 8-4, the first castillo fight was close but it wasnt at the beginning, Floyd was having his way with countershots, the 2nd fight definitely cleared up that late surge by Castillo. And it aint like Castillo is a slouch, he is on a lot of people top ten lb for lb. gatti and corrales were the favorites, they were supposed to lay the hammer to Floyd. Big punchers that floyd wouldnt be able to handle so what he do, he make mockery of them and their corners had to stop it in both fights. If u like kostya tsyu better that's fine, but ricky didnt hestitate to fight Kostya but he has pushed the fight back to 2007 for Floyd.
yes i fully understand that, but that is the reason for me saying he is not worthy of being number 1 p4p....i'm sure you agree.....
and to be honest, there are some fighters that say they want to fight him......in all honesty i don't rate margarito as an A level fighter yet, but, he at least has the balls to want to fight floyd and also many ppl respect margarito for that......
mayweather can also go public and invite challenges from ppl like hatton, margarito, etc....this will put him in the clear........
Fist off, how are u going to knock the best fighter in the world because the elite dont want to fight him? The same logic u use in decrowning him, I use for soldifying his spot. If the elite dont want to fight and want tune-ups, then that makes me think they feel their not ready, they need more preparation to fight the lb for lb best. And he already has invited those guys to fight numerous times thus far. They dont want it, Hatton at first said 2006, now its 2007, Cotto aint never really said too much at all, and margarito just aint that deserving in my opinion.

if people really think that then they need 2 learn the politics of the sport
also how can he fight the best when none of them want 2 fight him btw dont say margarito cuz he is just another -b minus opponent

i like floyd quite a bit, but i still think he is the most overated fighter at the moment.......he does not deserve the top p4p spot as his opposition of late has been questionable.....i can't even remember his last superfight...which was corrales and castillo bouts.......ever since then he has been fighting B level fighters.....judah, mitchell, gatti, bruseles, corley,........
there are many top fighters in the 140-154 weight class that are A level fighters that floyd should be fighting if he wants to have a real legacy........
but then again, its common that once fighters get to the top to fight b level fighters........
Floyd has proven himself for years. He's the best fighter in the world. He's trying to make as much cash as possible. Like he says, it's takes two to sell a PPV. Nothing drives high PPV numbers like two named fighters. Face it, the boxing hardcore are the only people who know Margarito. Floyd can't make the money that wants by fighting Margarito. Let's put it like this.... If he fights a guy, in November, for less than 8 million, then he's obviously ducking Antonio Margarito. Money talks. And if he rejects 8 million to fight Margarito, and fights some stiff it becomes quite obvious that he's ducking him. It isn't obvious as of yet.
I'm just gonna repost my old post cus the same question keeps getting asked:
You CAN say Floyd is ducking Margarito.
You know very well Floyd turned businessman after his last real figh that took place in 2002 which was against castillo. He has faced NO ONE that anyone has considered a threat since then. He keeps saying if it makes dollars it makes sense and not once but Twice (3 times if u count a time before the money was guaranteed)has it made BIG dollars to fight margarito a man MANY believe is a threat to floyd. And THE man at 147 before floyd moved up.
Floyd might eventually fight Margarito, and he might even end up embarrassing him but the truth is Floyd and his people ducked Margarito because they TOO felt he was a real threat.

nice reply, don't have anymore bullshit to say huh? do some research dickhead that's exactly what arum said.
and your dumbass keeps em coming .lol. simply classic. what a fukin idiot.
Just like how the only ones who think Margarito is going to beat Floyd are delusional Mexicans such as yourself and ferocity? ;)
How stupid would it sound if i said "Just like how the only ones who think Floyd is going to beat Margarito are delusional Blacks such as yourself and mayweather?" ;)
Floyd did not beat Castillo in the first fight and Floyd ran like a bitch in the rematch (how a great should have got it done... ). Plus Floyd beat a weight drained Corrales, and if you think thats bull than don't make excuses for Judahs loss before Floyd. Why you bring up Gatti, didn't Oscar destroy that guy along time ago and the only ones who thought Judah was gana beat Floyd was him beloved fans.
Just like how the only ones who think Margarito is going to beat Floyd are delusional Mexicans such as yourself and ferocity? ;)
** Who are you, Boozo's illegitimate luv child? Arum was promoting Floyd at the time of the 8 mil offer. Likely he promotes Floyd in future fights that Floyd ducks!
Untrue.
Get your facts straight.
evidently this argument will never end even if they fight and PBF beats him. I have an idea Mag go fight someone else brand PBF a coward, become the number one ranked welterweight.
why would it matter margartio getting labeled a bum if he was to lose? I mean...that's all mayweather has foughten for 4-5 years, only this time he's getting a fat pocket bonus! pure ducking at it's finest
exactly, if marg fought some bigger names the fight between him and floyd would be alot bigger. if they fought right now and floyd beats him critics will say that marg was a bum or not on his level. it's a lose/lose situation for floyd.
Why would it matter if they said Floyd beat a bum after getting 8 million for the fight?, and if that was the case, why did he fight Judah knowing the critics would say he beat an over hyped bum that lost his last fight to another bum( and thats what the're saying)????????????
lol at you not responding to post i made which is a great point
"HMMM why cant tony wait a fuckin month why is it floyds responsibility to follow tonys requirements when floyd is the bigger draw."
as well as the fact that id love to see where the fuck 8 million dollars is going to come from out of a fight with tony unless floyd takes 95/5 split for himself ahahhahahahaha
Arum had a date set for october well before Floyd made this nov. date with hbo. Floyd is scared as fuck, if Floyd himself belived he could take Margarito out like you all claim he would, this fight would have been signed by him along time ago knowing he would get 8 million plus a piece of the ppv buys, and if he won then he would have a big win against a guy that is looked at as the best fighter in the welter weight division.
you know what is sad about this whole magarito thing....... if PBF beats him, the story will change to Magarito was over rated. I think if Magarito fights somebody with a name at 147 then the fight with floyd becomes a bigger deal. Really how much money do you really think the fight will make? Boxing is always risk versus reward. Mag isnot bringing anything to the table, its not his name selling the ticket, if he looses to PBF nothing really changes for him. I saw PBF tell him, look its a business thing, lets make better fights apart first then ours becomes bigger and better, and Mag acknowledge that was a good idea. I mean do you think mag can beat DeLahoya? how can you say PBF is ducking Mag but wants to fight Oscar? do you thing Oscar ill be an easier fight?
exactly, if marg fought some bigger names the fight between him and floyd would be alot bigger. if they fought right now and floyd beats him critics will say that marg was a bum or not on his level. it's a lose/lose situation for floyd.
