those low blows took Judah's focus away. Cotto keeps hitting Judah in his back.
Watching it again right now that's something that's been pissing me off.
Both guys should have had the same tape job too.. Judah's barely covered the wrist - Cotto's was in Barrera, Trinidad country..

I cant see the fight but this sounds like it has controversey written all over it. It sounds like Cotto is going to win but alot of people are going to say that its only because the low blows and back shots took Zab out of it. Some will give Zab the benefit but alot wont just because they hate him and love Cotto. There will be screams for a rematch but it will be too dangerous for Cotto and he will say that he already proved he was better and will gun for Margarito
Wow.....
I cant see the fight. Are they low blows or not? It seems like half of you think they are devastating low blows and the other half think they are nothing and Zab is faking. Which is it?
AHAhahahaaaa! :lol1:
The hypocrisy is fully exposed in this one..
Lots of accusations and defensiveness going on here. :fing02:
It gets pretty intense somewhere between pages 26-29.. :lol1:
Those Low Blows came right after 2 consecutive possible knockouts, of course they were on purpose. See, Cotto is a trained professional he knew he was hurt.He had a horrible cut through his lip and he was nearly getting knocked out in the first 3 rounds, he did what he had to do, stayed poised , even apologised and kept it moving. He's the hardest body puncher in the game of welterweights right now of course his low blows that landed right on the cup did something. Judah eat em up and fought on like a warrior. Regardless you can't take anything from Cotto because thats how the game goes and he proved he was strong, he proved he tough, poised and very focused and consistent. Zab on the other he showed he had heart and he has what it takes to be a champion. He proved why he was even on a card like this considering his past.BUt damn get a new trainer.
Tremendous heart shown by Pac.
But put things in perspective......Soto was lapsing and Pac caught him with a good shot. He finished the job the way an elite fighter would though.
Well at least I think he's an A class fighter just about.
yes even without a belt, he just made my LIST OF MANNY's NEXT OPPONENT...
Low blows do take a lot of starch out of a guy, if they're truly low and ring the "bells". I've been whacked in the genitals while wearing a cup, and cup or no, it made me nausous and weak in the legs for an hour or so. Probably did the same to Judah, though to a lesser degree, considering the massive protection boxers are wearing. I really don't want to think that Cotto did it on purpose, and honestly don't believe he did.
I'm not saying the low blows didnt shake Zab up. I just dont think they had any great affect on the outcome. Cotto was punching like a madman all night. If you take those lowblows out of the fight, Zab may have had a little more energy in the later rounds to help with his defense, but even then the best Zab could have hoped for was a lopsided decision loss. I don't think Zab stopped punching becuase he was hit below the belt, I think it was because he was getting rocked all night ABOVE the belt.
Yup, what you said is right, actually, I think those low blows by Cotto were intentional, it's usually a strategy applied by fighters trying to slow down their opponent, and for Cotto it worked. Those low blows tonight affected Judah. That's not a p*ss poor excuse at all.
That's total BS.
Pedro Fernandez debunked the myth of the low blow about 3-4 years ago. Look it up on the net somewhere. He wore a cup and got hit 3 straight times in the jewels and was still able to act/talk normally.
Pretty decent fight. I'd say it generally went as most of us expected. Judah started fast but wasn't able to hurt Cotto enough to make up for Zab's inevitable running out of gas in the later rounds. I don't think the low blows had any great affect on the outcome, and I don't think Zab will try to use them as an excuse (As I typed that, he pretty much DID use them as an excuse during Merchant's interview, lol). Zab showed some heart but I think Cotto showed us more. He showed us its going to take a hell of a lot to slow him down in a fight, certainly more than what Zab had to give him, especially when he decided to stop punching somewhere around rounds 4/5.

Big props to Cotto in the post fight interview too, class act. I wish Zab and Cotto would do this one again! Simply an awsome job by Cotto, and a gutsy fight from Zab especially after a year long layoff. Props to both fighters for a wonderful fight tonight...
what a shame... zab gettin hit with those low blows
ofcourse with otehr fighters people would say dont use that as an excuse but i think something got into zabs head he all of a sudden didnt wanna fight, stopped throwing punches looked flat footed it was kinda ugly.
i dont think the low blows affected him physically but more mentally.. plus he always fades down the stretch...
good first two rounds for him though
I dont Buy the Low Blow shit.. he used his recovery time.. and was still looking like the better man.. Its just Typical Zab.. he is a 3-4 round Fighter at best.. Once he realisies his Opponent isnn't going to roll over he deflates and falls apart
