In a Interview a few years back, Atlas said Lewis isn't a true great, becuase true greats don't get knocked out by Rahamn and McCall.
Thoughts on this?
He's absolutely right. Even tho I can't stand Atlas.
Ali, Holmes, Tyson, Marciano, Joe Louis, non of these ATG's were never KO'd by a single punch. It happened to Lewis twice.
On the other hand Duran got starched by Hearns with one big shot. Or is Atlas just talking about HW's?
I doubt that there is even 1 true Linear Champion left. The man who beat the man, who beat the man, etc. It would be a considerable challenge to trace every title back to the last Linear Champion, or maybe not. Lets see.
What happened in the fight?
Silva was doing his thing for the first 2 rounds, then from round 3 on, he ran in circles around Miia. BJ Penn lost his title too, UD.
I will, if I can find it. Say what you will, Holyfield is a remarkable fighter, and should have been champion again. He was better than Valuev.
Botha was beating Tyson until that sudden KO so they should be evenly matched. Don't think it'll be another Hopkins-Jones mishmash.
This...........
At least Lennox Lewis, a true heavyweight champion, made something of his life and is not laying around fucking himself up.
Lennox who? In time Tyson will become a Legend......
:owned:
delahoya is a good solid fighter but he has no skill no where near mayweather... the only chance delahoya has is if mayweather hurts his hand ... if not ??? then your going to see a lot of running and hitting from mayweather... mayweather is simply just too fast for delahoya...
hes going to pick at him all the night and run and do the shoulder lean lol when hes in the corner ...
floyd by decision...
DLH has the same skill if not more than PBF, he's just not as fast. Oscar is going to put a lot of pressure on Mayweather, and he's good at cutting off the ring. DLH has been in a lot of big fights. IMO the pressure is all on Floyd. I expect a good fight for as long as it lasts. When DLH catches him it's over.
Boxing and the UFC each have their own paths and fans. While boxing may be at a not so good place right now, there are matches that will help it's resurgence. Oscar De La Hoya vs Floyd Mayweather Jr. will get the main streamers back. The return of VK also helps. UFC has many good fighters, and is not for the squeamish. Yes some fights are boring, but
there are many great fights that more than make up for it. To each his own. I like watching both. Thank you Royce Gracie, and Muhammad Ali.
please... whitaker, toney, hopkins have skills in the same league as mayweather's not De La Hoya
Maybe HAD the same skills. DLH is no slouch, he is a 5 time champion. He is an "A" fighter.
