In a Interview a few years back, Atlas said Lewis isn't a true great, becuase true greats don't get knocked out by Rahamn and McCall.
Thoughts on this?
The greatest fighters of all time have some bad loses. Hopkins lost his first fight, Pac has lost to 3 unknown Phillipino fighters. SRR lost to Randy Turpin in his prime. Ali lost to Berbick. Lewis was KOed twice in his career, other than that I don't recall him being knocked down (correct me if I'm wrong). Lewis would be a match for any HW of any era IMO.
Ok so according to Atlas and all other americans by the same logic.
Tyson is not an ATG because he got KTFO by Buster Douglas.
Roy Jones Jr is not an ATG because he got KTFO by Antonio Tarver and Glen Johnson.
See this doesn't make any sense. Tyson, RJJ, Lewis are all ATG's even though they got KTFO by less than stellar competition, and Lewis actually avenged both of his deafeats by KO something not even Tyson or RJJ did. But hey I guess since those two are american they get a pass....
No, man you don't get it! When americans get KOed = they were past their prime.
When others get KOed = they always sucked.
PS: I know not all americans think like this, so props to you, but many do think that way.

Going by Teddy`s logic then....
True greats dont get beaten by Leon Spinks in only his 8th fight
sometimes i love Atlas and other times he says the dumbest shit that makes me wanna turn the TV off
Man who cares, he stil got KTFO, i dont think that was the best Lenny but it was it is.
fuking excuses, its okay to give Tyson a pass though, he is American after all.
Who's giving him a pass? And who said that was the best Lewis? I didn't. So I don't know what you're talking about. Anybody who says that was the best Tyson is just being ignorant or too stubborn to admit they're wrong. I already said Lewis beats Tyson under any circumstances. I'm more of a Lewis fan than a Tyson fan anyway. But that doesn't take away from the fact that Tyson was ill prepared for his fight with Douglas.
I can even remember watching Holyfield/Lewis the undisputed truth and how Manny Steward was bemoaning the lack of respect Lewis was getting from the American journalists.
Lewis clearly aint on the level of Frazier, Ali, Foreman, etc. but he's a hall of famer...and one of the best heavyweights although I don't feel the comp was at an impressive level during his time...but that's not his fault...
He was up at 6 vs McCall. It was a lucky punch and you won't find many examples in history where a challenger like McCall was awarded the title over the Champion on a 6 count. I don't believe the referee was paid off. I think he genuinely thought he was doing the right thing because Lewis was on queer street. But the champion needs to be given the benefit of the doubt. If McCall had jumped back all over him and Lennox didn't defend himself, then jump in and stop the fight. But the Champion almost always gets more leeway than what Lennox was given that night.
It was a very harsh and premature stoppage.
I was speaking more of Hassim KO, but lewis looked terrible after the knockdown...had no legs looked beat and was pounded. It's not personal it's just how i see it. 4 stumbles is enough after a knockdown for a ref to stop the fight if he feels that it needs to be.
I don't think Tyson could ever beat Lewis at any point in his career. But that was not the best Tyson in Tokyo. He was poorly prepared and his corner was too inept to even bring Enswell into the ring.

Didn't you know american fighters are always past their prime when they get KOed, while other fighters are always in their prime and therefore suck? Some people will try to convince you that Tyson was past his prime when he got KOed by Douglas and that he would whip Lennox in his prime, ****ing retards.

Its true, Lennox gets bashed because the American media are ignorant pricks, we should not blame the American public as we cant give them too much credit for thinking for themselves.
Roy Jones got knocked out against Tarver around about the same age as Lenny, whats your excuse for Jones?
Dont give me no BS about Roy being a reflex fighter and all, bottom line is he got nailed and Ko'ed by Tarver, Johnson when he was not much older than Lenny.

He's absolutely right. Even tho I can't stand Atlas.
Ali, Holmes, Tyson, Marciano, Joe Louis, non of these ATG's were never KO'd by a single punch. It happened to Lewis twice.
On the other hand Duran got starched by Hearns with one big shot. Or is Atlas just talking about HW's?
I must have missed the part where they knocked him out.
