I saw everything I needed to see last night. Abner beats Donaire easy!
You predicted that Vazquez would KO Donaire but you were wrong about that.
An Abner Donaire matchup wouldn't be easy for either fighter. Abner is durable and would give Donaire a run for his money. Donaire has the power and skills to outbox and ko Mares.
I want a gif of him doing the Ali shuffle and dancin around jabbing like Ali
i want to see him jabbing like that in his fights
Donaire is no Ali or Roy JOnes but Donaire would be better off impersonating Ali (minus the rope a dope) than Roy.
peterson is the best at 140 there should be a rematch bradley vs peterson then the winner fights pac
If Pac beats Bradley, then I expect Arum to match up Pac with the Peterson-Marquez winner. I would prefer a Pac-Floyd fight but that will never happen.
I'm not trying to bring triangles, circles or ractangles, Arce soppust to be on his way out and still winning fights after he beat Vasquez Jr. so where do you put Donaire in the P4P, i personally think he is not P4P status., just the hype of onather filipino fighter.
Man... just shup, i not racist, racist is is person who for what ever reason he did like the comment uses that excuse. No racist here buddy, i work with a lot of filipinos and you got some ******* just like would another race, nice try though....
You make a racist statement of "another hyped up filipino fighter" and now you're denying racism. Your full of shat. Thinking Donaire is overrated is fine by me, but you are obviously racially motivated. just admit the truth.
Pac has a very unorthodox style that violates many techniques taught in gyms and so did Naseem Hamed.
Sometimes you will have boxer's that cannot fight like everyone else ... these are the naturally gifted ones. Correct or incorrect technique is subjective in boxing and the above mentioned are perfect examples.
Often emulated, but never duplicated.
Exactly. most people wouldn't be able to fight their best using Pacquiao's style. But it works for him. Flomos can dismiss his style all they want but it doesn't change the fact that he is a great boxer.
did you know floyd is p4p number 2 for doing what he did?....really?....i mean really?.....what did he do?.....UD a past prime fighter and suckerpunched a damn idiot....that s worthy of p4p #2?
think about it...
true. floyd hasn't done jack for a long time and is p4p #2; rated because of his skills and past. martinez has been fighting bums waiting for a money fight. pac won a close fight against marquez. Andre Ward has been very impressive and is someone that I expect to be #1 p4p one day. The Klitsckos fight in a weak division.
I wanted to see donaire win by ko. but he broke his hand and still coasted to a clear victory. I wouldn't rank Donaire p4p #3 but he's still a top ten p4p.
There is a thread requesting a gif of that move describing it as a sumo wrestler imitation as a opposed to a constipation dodo move.
I am not to much of a fan of his showboating either. Weird taunting move.
damn you need great timing and perfect distance to pull that off, extremely hard to do..
so true. Donaire showboats and keeps his hands too low for my liking. He also ignores defense a little too much. But he has skills.
He should stop with the Roy Jones impersonations.
If you watch the Narvaez fight, Donaire was swelling up from jabs. Also watch his fight with Tyson Marquez, his face swelled up even though he dominated. Donaire's face has always swelled up easy from a few punches.
Donaire is just an athletic fighter.. For me he doesnt have any skills. Just pure speed, WV2 keep tagging his jab with ease. Arce will beat Donaire on the inside, poor Nonito
You said WV2 would ko Donaire, now you think Arce will beat Donaire? gtfoh.
Their would be no more use of the pinoy lounge:bounce:
GTFO Pinoys will still have Donaire. Even after Pac or Donaire. pinoys will continue to always support their boxers even if the best boxer is a flyweight like Melindo or Nietes. Pinoys are here to stay.
Both types of fans have a good chance of disappearing for at least temporarily. I will always support Pac win or lose. part of Mayweather's appeal is being undefeated.
are you inferring that Mayweather's fans are only around because of an undefeated record and that they'd look for the next 0 to latch onto?
nope. mayweather fans wil still be around if he loses but being undefeated is a big deal to them. if anything mayweather fans would probably move on to another slick fighter like Adrien Broner if Mayweather loses miserably and/or retires.
i find it very graceful when i saw him switching from left and right... i remember him also using that punch to knockout manuel vargas
Someone on youtube called that punch the dempsey roll but that's not the dempsey roll. The dempsey roll is a move used by Tyson. What donaire did was throw an uppercut while he shuffled back and forth.
Rios fights the way he does and I don't think any trainer can change him and give him head movement. The problem is donaire doesn't listen to his corner's advice. Garcia told Donaire in the Vazquez fight to keep his hands up but Donaire proceeded to do a monkey imitation. In Donaire's fight with Montiel before round 2, Garcia repeatedly tells Donaire not to throw punches from far away. The first thing that Donaire does in Round 2 is throw a reaching combination. Rios and Donaire don't seem to listen.
I noticed Brian Viloria improved under Robert Garcia when he was trained by him.
Robert Garcia may not be the best trainer but I think he's still a good trainer that communicates well in the corner and does well in the gym. As unskilled as Margarito was, I noticed improvement in his boxing skills under Garcia.
one thing is for sure is that donaire has some pretty good wins on his resume so far...if donaire beats rigondeaux, and then beats nishioka and moves up to 126 to beat a good champion there and thus winning his 4th belt in a 4th division...then he deserves to be hof'er as far as i'm concerned.
I know Donaire won an interim belt at 115 but 126 would be his 5th division. I agree if Donaire would be able to beat a top guy at 122 like Nishioka or Rigondeaux and beat a champion at 126 like the Salido/Juanma Lopez winner then he should be a hof'er. Those fights would be tough for Donaire and I'm not so sure if he could pull it off.
I rank Ward ahead of Donaire because he has dominated his opponents and has a comparable resume to Donaire.
Holy shit I forgot how good Cotto has become,
His ring movement and Combinations are some of the best I have ever seen.
The more I think about the more I become to realize he seriously could be a threat to Floyd. (Although I think Floyd will stop him convincingly!)
Since moving upto 154 he has become full on BEAST!!
Unlike Bradley, who looked like shit against Casamayor.
May 5th will be fight of the YEAR!! Two warriors and the two best in the world meet in the MGM Grand! I can't wait you guys!!
Cotto will surprise everyone and give May a run for his money.
No saying silly stuff like Oscar is an ATG, Marg in his prime was garbage, then it gets laughable to Maidana DESTROYS Marg, the nonsense you spew about Pac, Rios has fought nothing but bums except for Anthony Peterson, Rigo EASILY beats Donaire.
Just a bunch of trolling comments/observation. I'm not a big fan of Donaire. But, I'm not a troll.
good point he is a troll with the nonsense he posts. he also makes threads of sex with his cousin.
More likely to be Margarito next.
And i'd actually prefer that fight
why because of the styles or do you hate margarito? i want to see chavez jr. test himself.
Both are good fights. Bradley and Cotto have a decent chance in winning their fights. I'll go with Cotto having a better chance than Bradley, but barely.
Ponce De Leon would most likely ko Rey Bautista again. Bautista hasn't improved his defense and still has a suspect chin. But I would like to see Bautista get an opportunity to redeem himself anyway. I'm not sure if Mexicans would be interested in this but a Ponce-Rey fight would be big in the Philippines.
the problem with some of u guys is that u dont use your brain. u just watch the fight on HBO and listen to biased crap commentary and u always see Lederman's ridiculous pro-Donaire scorecards during the fight, and then u guys believe it all.
u gotta have a brain to see the truth. some of u guys sukc the HBO crew so hard that they believe everything they say. mute the video and watch the fight and u will see Donaire's head snapping back a billion times.
the punch stats are fake as ****
you obviously don't know shat about boxing. Vazquez put up a good performance and Donaire didn't even bother defending his jab. But Donaire scored a knockdown and landed more punches.
not gonna happen. Pacquiao and Donaire won't be in the same card ever.
and why are you inserting canelo vs mosley as the undercard when they can be the main event on other date?
not gonna happen.
Not my idea, just what I heard from someone else.
I want to see Donaire on a Pac under card; perfect way for Donaire to pick up more Pinoy/pac fans. But there is beef between Donaire and Pac's manager.
Canelo is a fighter I have no interest in and Mosley is old.
I picked mayweather for the following reasons
1. Ali, great HW but overrated. Not p4p material. Picked on cruiserweights.
2. SRL, struggled with floyd's father and JR is 100x better than sr. PBF by UD
3. Whitaker. Too small, too weak. Roger was never really good. Floyd by UD
4. RJJ, great fighter great person great entertainer great athlete, look into his resume and he's overrated as well. Floyd by UD @ 154 (yes roy fought that low)
Even if you were ignore their resumes, Floyd only has better fighting attributes than Whitaker. Floyd is skilled and was a heavy hitter at lightweight and could ko Whitaker. Ali has better intangibles and was pretty skilled in his prime. SRL would have the speed and power advantage and would school Mayweather. Prime Roy was a beast at 154 would ko Floyd.
Skills and intangible attributes without regard for resume
1. RJJ
2. SRL
3. Ali
4. Floyd
5. Whitaker
The main problem is there are way too many sanctioning bodies. It has to be one title for each division. This way everyone will be fighting for the title of their division instead of being called a champ when they haven't faced top competition. This will increase the competitive drive in fighters.
Another problem is promoter beef. Its all about inhouse money, nobody wants to share, so the fans suffer. Now Bob arum is a scum bag, but if he was running boxing we would have some amazing fights because no matter who wins hes at a gain.
Top Rank has soft matchmaking, and has us wait forever for fights like Gamboa and Lopez.
Golden Boy is a little better even though their soft with Alvarez. Golden Boy at least works with other promoters. The bantamweight tournament was awesome.
