He never fought anyone else after that... that is a legit retirement. Can you really hold that against Lewis?

      - - What I hold against Lewie is the obvious, ie his feigned intelligence, feigned greatness after whooping the 4 round trained, 3 ring circus of Psychiatric drugged Tyson, and his feigned willingness to rematch Vit only if Vit jumped through all the rematch precondition gauntlets that Vit had to run through.

In other words, he sat on his last belt holding it hostage for as long as he could before strippage.

Now, if you think that's a mark of a great fighter, more power to you...

Fury is a different bird. He might lose yet. If he retired tomorrow it would be for him as it is for Marciano....strictly somebody's opinion that that it is possible to defeat him; and like Marciano they would find fault with his gross body of work, with, in both cases some degree of validity. I'd love to see Fury finish up with a flourish by taking out Usyk, Joyce and Joshua. I see Wilder on the verge of capturing another alphabelt, freed up by being stripped off of someone for mandatory defense non-compliance, but I've seen enough Fury-Wilder action, good as it's been. Doing more labor to assert his dominance of the era it the better way for Fury to cement his legacy, as it carries greater risk. Let Marciano keep the perfect record alone, as that's his most prized possession.

Rocky Marciano was a 180 pound fighter. He isn't a heavyweight by modern standards. Get over it kid.

As to his high praise of today's champion?.....you tell me.....

Hall of Fame broadcaster Colonel Bob SheridanSheridan talks to *********.comŽ about Tyson Fury, whom he says could be the greatest heavyweight of all time. The Colonel also talks about dream fights with Tyson Fury against other great heavyweights which include Muhammad Ali, Larry Holmes and Lennox Lewis.

“Because of Tyson Fury’s size, Muhammad Ali would box in the hallway and stay away from him. I am talking about the early Ali and not the one after the layoff. I think Ali would be able to stay away from Fury and box his ears off, but in the end if Fury hits him on the chin he is going. Fury could definitely knock Ali out. There were European fighters who had knocked down Ali.

“Lennox Lewis is a super, super fighter. He was very clever. He had a knack of pushing a guy’s head down like he did with the White Buffalo Frans Botha and knocked him out with one shot. Lennox Lewis has got to rate as one of the best heavyweights of all time. Lennox is a dear friend but I think Tyson Fury is something special. A freak of the day. Great racehorses and great athletes are freaks and Tyson Fury is one of them. Tyson Fury gets knocked down but he gets back up. Not a lot of heavyweights who get knocked down can get back up. Wilder put Fury down but he got up. And Wilder can punch.

“ Lennox Lewis is a super – super fighter. He was very clever. He had a knack of pushing a guys head down like he did with the White Buffalo Frans Botha and knocked him out with one shot. Lennox Lewis has got to rate as one of the best heavyweights of all time

“Getting up from a knockdown is the key and that is why I rated Larry Holmes as number one. I’ve seen him get knocked out in Pittsburg by Renaldo Snipes and at the count of three his eyes were rolling back in his head and his right foot was quivering but he got up to beat Renaldo. I’ve seen Larry get hit by Ernie Shavers, which everyone agrees is the best heavyweight puncher of all time and he beat him after being down and then the same thing happened against Mike Weaver. Larry got knocked out but got up to beat all three of them. At that time in history, no other super heavyweight had got off the canvas three times after being knocked out. That’s why I rated Larry Holmes as number one. Not the Larry Holmes that boxed Mike Tyson.
“I have Tyson Fury knocking Larry Holmes out. Tyson Fury is a freak of nature like Secretariat, who is a huge man who is super tough and a super great guy.

“Tyson Fury knocks out everybody, in my opinion, until he gets too old. He is the greatest fighter in the world today and could be the best heavyweight who ever lived.“
Lol bot Sheridan is a idiot. I am sure most people here would agree. First off Tyson Fury knocks everybody? Tyson Fury doesn't have a 100 percent knockout ratio. Second getting knocked down and getting up to win means you are the best? Well George Foreman got knocked down by Ron Lyle and got up to win. Hell Michael Grant got knocked down by Andrew Golota and got up to win. Does that mean Michael Grant is a all time great?

Lets go further Tyson Fury was knocked down by Steve Cunnigham a blown up light punching 180 pound fighter and by Nevin Pajic a light punching heavyweight so Ali, Foreman, Holmes, Lennox Lewis, Vital Klitschko ect could knock Fury down too.

Lewis haters always bring that up about Klitscko. The fact is, an Ageing, under trained Lewis, almost ripped his face off.
In a rematch, Lewis would have had Klitscko crying.

Wait, I thought you said a 180 fighter couldn't stay with a modern HW?

My God what if it had been that "bum" Marciano instead of Steve Cunningham, who hit him. What then?

                - - My dear boy, Lewie invited Manny to England to evaluate his month long self training before flying to LA for a full 6 week camp.

Vit was brought in on 3 weeks to replace Tyson who ditched the shaky 10 rd promotion on the undercard. A week later Kirk Johnson mysteriously hurts his tltty, and after 3 winning civil suits vs Lewie, Vit promoted to the main event.

10 weeks training vs 3 weeks training with a 2 week notice of a 12 rd title upgrade...yer welcome...

Doesn't matter how you frame it, Lewis won. Then decided to retire.
He beat all the men he faced, then retired, and he's got his wealth and health.
Prime Lewis v prime Vitali, for me that's a painful beating for K.

Don't drink the kool-aid. Vits had as much time to prepare for Lewis as Lennox had to prepare for him. Difference being Lewis came in at a career high and still won.

Fury is up there with the greatest for certain. The simple reason in my opinion is that he is huge yet so quick. normally the bigger the slower yet he is fast. so usek would find him too strong and a guy like that couldn't cope with a huge fast man who is all over him. I think fury must get sick of all the debates around him he just likes to win a fight. he see's it just like how gypsies would settle disputes by having a fight in the garden. he just wants to win the fight. my brother was saying the other day usek hasnt a hope vs fury in the ring fury will be too big and strong and he will destroy usek. it aint possible for a light heavy to challenge a huge and fast heavy man like fury. remember how good bob foster was knocking out all the light heavies but when he stepped up ali battered him. no way a man like usek can deal with this huge man.
