If you're insinuating that Floyd is afraid of Canelo, I'll have to disagree. Personally, I think one of two things could be going on:
1. Floyd doesn't want to lock himself into anything. Doesn't want to be told he's going to be fighting Canelo in September. Wants to feel like "the boss" who gets to fight whoever the **** he wants whenever the **** he wants.
2. Floyd is concerned about the possibility that Trout - if he is indeed Canelo's opponent - will beat Alvarez and then be seemingly in line to fight him. Believe me, Trout's a stiffer test for Floyd than Canelo is. Alvarez is too green and would be likely be outboxed and made to look like a fool. Trout, on the other hands, is a tall, lanky southpaw technician who could very well outbox Floyd because of his size advantage. And Trout's in his prime.
Keep in mind, Alvarez just two fights ago had a shot-to-**** Mosley run into his punches for 12 rounds and couldn't stop him. Couldn't even outwork him at times. Floyd's too fast and too slick to be troubled by anything Canelo has shown he can do. And that's coming from someone who thinks Canelo will turn out to be the "real deal", but who also thinks he's been babied and hasn't proven himself.
I pretty much agree with everything said here. I just wanted to add more to #2 If Trout were to fight Canelo and beat him. Trout and Floyd will never happen because they both are managed by Al Haymon. And its a high risk low reward fight for Floyd anyway. Floyd would never make any kind of guarantee anyway. I still believe he is only going to fight in May this year anyway. If you remember he originally said he was going to fight in December of 2012. As a fan I would like to see him face a more deserving opponent other than Guerrero or Canelo. I don't know how beating Berto gives you a shot a Floyd. It happened with Ortiz as well. He should just close out his career in 2013 and fight Martinez in September. Beating Guerrero and Canelo does nothing for his legacy.
Floyd was responding to a question where the reporter brought up the 150 weight and if he would fight Martinez under those terms. Who knows if the fight wouldnt be at 154.
Thank you for saying that. Many people forget the question asked. I think Martinez at 154 will most likely be his next opponent if he passes Cotto.
This is unequivically the dumbest thread i have ever seen in my life.
I mean, I'm no Floyd cheerleader but to complain about a decent under
card that will have the casual boxing fan pretty excited is just pure hate.
I think Floyd is officially about to pass Ali as the most hated boxer of any generation.
I agree I never seen anything like this. Even if you're a Floyd hater/Pac Fan you have too appreciate a good undercard. Why would you want a horrible undercard. That is what Bob Arum does to keep as much money as he can. But with that said this isn't even a good undercard yet. I mean Winky has a chance of pulling off a boring upset but the Canelo/Mosley fight is a joke. I think GBP at least tries to put on good undercards though. I can't even watch Top Ranks undercards. They're jokes 90% of the time.
I feel no matter who is on the main event, the undercard should have an up and coming prospect, a good matchup of veterans, and a possible opponent of the winner of the main event on it. That will always be a good undercard.
I think Showtime benefits more from non PPV fights like Canelo vs Trout. You have to have Showtime to see these fights. Now that all of Goldenboy fights are going to be on Showtime. This should increase their overall subscribers.
I dont know who expected more. I cant believe the expectation was more than a million. Guerrero brought nothing to the table. I didn't even hear many cheers for him during his ring entrance. I'm a Floyd fan and it was a smart move on his part. But it wasnt a smart decision by Showtime. Floyd doesn't add Showtime subscribers because all of his fights are PPV. You dont need Showtime to watch ppv. unless you factor in that they have all Golden boy fights now. Thats a huge deal if that was the original plan.
Excellent Analysis video of Pac/Bradley fight and HBO's biased commentary
This is an excellent Analysis video of Pac/Bradley fight and HBO's biased commentary. This is a must see. If you don't believe HBO is biased watch this video. It will probably not change your mind about the recent decision, but it will give you a different outlook on the fight.
of course it will be explosive both have ****ty defenses thats what you guys like a bunch of guys just beatin eachother up instead of learning how to box.
this fight will be competitive because manny doesn't look that good if he doesn't hurt his opponents and idk if he can hurt margo
Its up to Manny if it is going to be competitive. If he utilizes effective movement like in the DeLa Hoya fight, it will resemble that fight. The only way this fight will be competitive is if Manny stays there and tries to brawl. I don't think he will. That will be to his disadvantage.
should i get a neck developer?
A neck developer will definitely help and you have to learn to keep your chin tucked in. If your chin is out and wide open, a pillow will do damage in a pillow fight.
One think I noticed is Klitcsko is wide open for for body shots when peter dips and slips. I wish Peter would try it. He keeps head hunting I guess it doesn't matter either way he's getting knocked out later.
its hard to compare them because the two shows are totally different.247 is much longer and it is all pre-fight coverage. so its more quantity than quality.360 is full pre and post coverage. Of course 360 will always be more entertaining. And its getting boring because we already know all about mayweather and pac.
If I was Nasim My gameplan would be this.
I would back up the whole fight. Make Floyd come to me and take away his countering abilities. Not try to out box him but switch it up and RUN from him so to speak. I would have Shane all over the ring moving NON STOP and when Floyd commits to a punch you better catch his ass. You have to do something to throw Floyd off. Trying to outbox him or maul him will get you embarrassed. Just move , move and move some more. Also 80% of his punches should be jabs to the body and head. Then move some more. It wont be pretty but just keep moving eventually Floyd will have to come forward then try to make him pay. Make it a god awful UGLY fight and hope for a decision. Almost go into Cory Spinks mode and just dont stop moving.
Again not trying to outbox him just try to make him uncomfortable and make him think. Make him the aggressor and counter him. Moving non stop would drop Floyds accuracy way down and would give Shane more opportunities to land. Again doing it this way would make it the one of the most boring and ugliest fights in history but he will have a chance to win a decision with that handspeed. Keep backing up enough and Floyd will try to shoot the leaping left hook if Shane can catch him we'd have a fight. The judges wouldnt know what to do. It would be a hard fight to score. Now can Shane move with his legs. I doubt it.
But standing in one spot trying to outbox him or just trying to maul him will get Shane embarrassed.
This is a good gameplan. But this is not Shane. I think Naz will come up with a similar gameplan but in the end Shane will revert back to his normal aggressive tactics. I dont think any trainer can completely change a fighter in only their second fight with them. Shane is a born fighter. Once you try to get him to outbox someone, he'll feel uncomfortable (Especially against Floyd) and do what he's been doing for years.
Ellerbee said this in November of 09
Finally someone who remembered this interview. Everyone should actually listen to the quotes from Team Mayweather. Their intentions were always leading towards fighting Pacquiao and Mosley.
I agree to a certain extent. You can say the same thing about every sport. I'll use football for an example. You'll have casual fans and you'll have diehard fans. Casual fans only watch big games or games with two exciting offensive teams. They want to see 50 yard touchdown passes or long run backs. Then you have die hard fans who will watch and follow everygame throughout the season. Boxing is the same way. We have fans who will only watch big fights or exciting fighters. Usually they want only want to see knockouts or brawls or its considered a boring fight. Then we have our die hard fans who watch every fight regardless of who is fighting and regardless of what kind of style just because they love boxing.
Now I love boxing. I tend to watch most fights. I appreciate all styles of boxing. I love brawlers for their heart. Defensive counter punchers for their skill and intellect. And high volume punchers for their conditioning.
Yeah I'm a Devon fan. I think he won barely. Maybe even a draw. Bottom line is he did not look good tonight. He never adjusted. He looked very sluggish and confused. He has a lot of work to do. He has to fight smarter. Kevin was giving him the right advice, but in the heat of the moment he resorted to fighting. He got tired and it made him more easier to get countered.
Are you kidding?
Dirrell could have run a track for 4 mins and still been 4 points a head.
Abraham was just swinging man. It was a good KD by Abraham but let's not forget Dirrell had a KD discounted as well.
Exactly he had 4 mins to run. I wasn't that out of gas to avoid AA wreckless punches. You can tell he was getting extremely frustrated
If i were Pac I woudnt take the fight. Pride is more important than money. Why should i vow down to Floyd?
Its not just to Floyd now its Pacs fans and the media. That will easily tarnish his reputation.
