Canelo states the only way he will fight on the May 4 undercard is if Mayweather signs a contract with Canelo in September.
If Canelo stays true to his word, he won't be fighting May 4. I can Guarantee you Mayweather doesn't sign the Canelo contact, if he actually does "sign" it, the fight will fall through in September. Mayweather will find a way to duck it.
These negotiations are taking too long and I believe Adrian Broner might be the Co-feature bout. Lets Hope Canelo stays true to his word so we can expose Floyd for what he truely is, a Cherry picking Coward.
Mayweather doesn't take risk and never will. The guy knows exactly who to fight and sweeps in at the right time. Look for Adrian Broner to be the Co-feature instead.
Peace
He won't be but that is not the reason why~
They never intended Canelo to be on that card, but this does a few things links Canelo with Floyd, creates drama between the men and gets Canelo's name more out there. It is a perfect use of free marketing~
It will also add more juice the Floyd is ducking/afraid of Canelo talk which is already starting. What is one of the best ways to promote a Floyd fight? Make it seem like he is ducking the other guy because a group of fans will eat that up and not shut up about it.
This is fight promotion at it's finest really, so take it in.
Indeed it has already begun~
Do you think they just set this up for April 20th today~ this has been the plan all along.
why should this fight happen?
whats was Canelos biggest win? Josesito Lopez?
Matthew hatton? Ryan Rhodes?
wait was it Alfonso Gomez? Lightweight Jose Miguel Cotto?
no it was Shane Mosley (a guy who lost his last 3 fights... couldnt pull the trigger... fighting at a weightclass he was never relevant at, and still Canelo barely brought the fight to him)

If Mayweather calls himself "Money" there's no reason this fight shouldn't happen. That's funny you mention Mosley because that's who Mayweather rather be fighting and then almost get KO'd by the past-prime slurring 40 year old.
I don't blame Mayweather for ducking Canelo. The guy is young, has power/speed and carries his weight at 154lb. Oh right Mayweather is a 147lber right? He really didn't fight delahoya at 154lb 6 years ago, nor was his last fight with Cotto at 154lb.
You're right the world would love to see Mayweather/Ortiz II.

Alvarez needs to man up, fight Trout, and if Mayweather won't fight him then oh well. Mayweather will receive the criticism for that. Not fighting Trout because he isn't guaranteed the Mayweather fight makes Alvarez look like a pathetic joke, which many think he already is.
The biggest payday outside Pacquiao.
If Mayweather won't take the biggest payday fight then he should not be called "Money"
Pacquaio was a Payday + a legacy boost
where are Canelos PPV numbers? anyone got them?

I also have my money on Mayweather NEVER fights Canelo ala Pacquiao. The fight will never happen

I like(d) canelo until this whole thing if he doesnt fight trout he loses all respect this **** is just dumb he does not deserve a guaranteed fight with floyd before facing trout

Exactly this. Canelo, a 23 yr old who has beat no one is trying to force the only boxer who is truly his own boss into a guarantee contract? Don't think so

Canelo-Trout is main event worthy on it's own, I get the feeling GBP has something to do with this, this whole situation sounds too idiotic, even we got to admit it sounded too good to be true from the start.

Floyd doesn't have to sign s**t to fight Canelo 100%. Canelos hould man the f** up, fight Trout, and force Floyd to fight him. But holding the Trout fight hostage by saying if he doesn't guarantee to fight me, I'm not fighting him, is just a b*tch move.
If Canelo doesn't fight Trout next, f**k that clown. And he can have his own date fighting someone else, and Broner can go on the May 4th card than.
Canelo has been waiting for the Floyd fight for some time now. Canelo is smart to ask Floyd for a gaueente considering his track record. I don't see why it's a big problem for Floyd? Canelo is the biggest fight for Floyd outside pacquaio.
Floyd should be signing it without hesitation.

Canelo should headline his own event on a different date. There is no guarantee that Mayweather fights him on sept 14th even if Mayweather beats the Ghost.
If he doesn't fight him, he's ducking. If he fights him and schools him, which is what would happen, Canelo is too green and he cherrypicked. Guerrero in May, Canelo in September would be fine with me. Canelo will not dictate to Mayweather, he not letting anyone tell him what to do. Put Canelo vs Trout on it's own PPV, since he's such a great draw. See how the numbers stack up against Mayweather vs Guerrero.
So according to you, Floyd fighting Canelo is a cherry pick then wtf is Floyd fighting Guerrero? Typical Floyd Nuthugger. Stop making excuses for him, Floyd needs to step up.
floyd needs to fight sergio martinez to enhance his legacy but if he want to cherry pick canela is available
martinez is the only fight out there that will enhance his legacy. pac was never floyd rival he was Marquez rival and Marquez already squashed that rivalry
i said nothing about guerrero
im by no means am i a floyd fan:fing26:
from a floyd hater enough with the bs
canela has not faced anyone of note and beaten anyone of note for him to cause fear to anyone at 154lbs
this hype job is fake and needs to be concerned with fighting trout if not him angulo, kirkland, vanes, lara, carlos molina, bundrage, delvin rodriguez
floyd fighting canela is a cherry pick

If you're insinuating that Floyd is afraid of Canelo, I'll have to disagree. Personally, I think one of two things could be going on:
1. Floyd doesn't want to lock himself into anything. Doesn't want to be told he's going to be fighting Canelo in September. Wants to feel like "the boss" who gets to fight whoever the **** he wants whenever the **** he wants.
2. Floyd is concerned about the possibility that Trout - if he is indeed Canelo's opponent - will beat Alvarez and then be seemingly in line to fight him. Believe me, Trout's a stiffer test for Floyd than Canelo is. Alvarez is too green and would be likely be outboxed and made to look like a fool. Trout, on the other hands, is a tall, lanky southpaw technician who could very well outbox Floyd because of his size advantage. And Trout's in his prime.
Keep in mind, Alvarez just two fights ago had a shot-to-**** Mosley run into his punches for 12 rounds and couldn't stop him. Couldn't even outwork him at times. Floyd's too fast and too slick to be troubled by anything Canelo has shown he can do. And that's coming from someone who thinks Canelo will turn out to be the "real deal", but who also thinks he's been babied and hasn't proven himself.
I pretty much agree with everything said here. I just wanted to add more to #2 If Trout were to fight Canelo and beat him. Trout and Floyd will never happen because they both are managed by Al Haymon. And its a high risk low reward fight for Floyd anyway. Floyd would never make any kind of guarantee anyway. I still believe he is only going to fight in May this year anyway. If you remember he originally said he was going to fight in December of 2012. As a fan I would like to see him face a more deserving opponent other than Guerrero or Canelo. I don't know how beating Berto gives you a shot a Floyd. It happened with Ortiz as well. He should just close out his career in 2013 and fight Martinez in September. Beating Guerrero and Canelo does nothing for his legacy.
