Floyd "retired" in Dec 07 after beating Hatton. He was supposed to come back in September to rematch Oscar but he "retired" again when he found out that Oscar wasn't giving him a 50/50 split....ironic isnt it? Not to mention that DLH didn't want to co-promote the rematch with Mayweather Promotions and there was no public interest in the fight.

Definitely DLH, Cotto can hit but DLH's left was monstrous.

I doubt he'll beat Floyd but Cotto looked outstanding in the Margarito rematch, I haven't seen Cotto perform so well since his original loss to Margarito. If Cotto fights intelligently, by which I mean using his jab, picking his shots and utilising lateral movement, we might almost have a fight on our hands. But if he tries to overwhelm Floyd with aggression, bullying him against the ropes and trying to consistently land big shots, then we can expect another Mayweather vs Ortiz/DLH/Hatton.

Sometimes he did but Oscar was in that fight all the way to the 10th, at least, it was super close. Floyd really did not nullify the jab throughout. I saw him missing a lot, gettin tagged and running a lot and answering with one punch. I saw an older Oscar fail to use his jab, without it being exactly nullified. There were just a few rounds he abandoned it all together. I say Cotto's heavy hands behind that jab, and the way he double and triples it throughout the fight, is better than Oscars. :lol1: :lol1:

floyd has no inside game as shown by the ref helping him in the hatton fight(cortez). Imos khan speed would be to much for mayweather, if ortiz, DLH and a 38 year old mosely can clokc this guy, then so can khan. Discuss. No he wasn't, Khan was teeing off on him with combos and moving, it's just that Khan's power wasn't able to deter Peterson which allowed Peterson to get on the inside for certain periods. But again, FMJ is not an inside fighter, it's not his game, he doesn't fight like Peterson. You guys haven't seen Floyd at super featherweight or lightweight have you.

imo Mayweather would beat anyone on Oscar's resume with the possible exception of Hopkins. If Hopkins drained himself to 154 Mayweather would probably win, but at 160 I think Hopkins might be too strong for Floyd. I didn't love him, but one guy I used to have huge respect for is Lennox Lewis. He had an outstanding career and is one of, maybe even the most, technically skilled heavyweight of all time. But the way he denied Klitschko a rematch after he promised him one in the post fight interview really made me lose respect for him, particularly because I empathised with him when Riddick Bowe ducked him. Despite his great talent and the fact that he seems to be a nice guy outside the ring, I've never been able to look at him the same.

Floyd only became a star after he left Arum, the reason he left Arum in the first place was because he was under-marketed. Arum has been responsible for Pac and DLH, but imo they would have have risen to the top regardless.

However, clearly Floyd is the better fighter. ANYBODY that understands boxing knows that. That is why basically every pro fighter and trainer tells you that Floyd beats Manny, even if they like Manny more. There is a reason Floyd is #1 by a mile in terms of his connect percentage vs. his opponent. It's not even close, and Manny is not even in the top 20. Floyd would dominate Manny and outbox him easily, just like he did Marquez. Does that take away anything from Manny? No. He is an amazing fighter and from his first MAB fight up until now he has done amazing things. He may be more exciting than Floyd and more fun to watch (I personally love people that shut down their opponents and make great fighters look ordinary, such as Floyd and the person in my av) The bottom line is BOTH are great. Clearly Floyd is a better fighter, but he has been boxing since he was 3 years old. His technical abilities are elite, in any era. Manny is a great athlete with amazing power and speed, and a tremendous heart. They each have strengths and weaknesses, and they are each legends in their own way (once again, no question Floyd will be regarded as the better boxer years from now but that is irrelevant) So PLEASE, stop with the garbage and just enjoy the sport. Manny is a great fighter but the extent to which he has been overhyped is ridiculous. Saying Pacquiao would beat Floyd is like saying Chavez (sr) would beat Ray Leonard. But as I've been saying for 3 years, the fight will never happen (unless by some miracle Pacquiao splits with Arum) so we may as well enjoy the last few fights they have before they retire. To suggest that Mayweather is a better boxer than Pacquiou is beyond ridiculous. Just look at their respective resumes. Mayweathers best win is against Corrales and not being funny but Chico is not a hall of famer. Pacquiou has been in with legends like Morales, Barrera et al when they were at their peak. Mayweather has never fought a pound for pound welterweight with the exception of Mosley (who was well past his prime and fought like it). Unless Mayweather steps up and fights Pacquiou then he will never be regarded as the better boxer. I could easily disprove everything you've said, but the fact that you think Morales and Barrerra were in their prime when Pac fought them tells me that there's no point in educating you.

I understand the reluctance, but imo Marquez deserves one more crack. Should he get another chance hopefully, after outboxing Pac, he'll step up the aggression in the later rounds to leave a better impression on the judges. Besides, if not Marquez then who's Pacquiao going to fight? "Can Can" Rios who barely survived (in most people's opinion robbed) Abril, Mike Jones who is even less well known than Bradley? If Mayweather can't be done then imo Marquez is the next best option.

People should be able to appreciate both. Although I personally prefer more technically skilled fighters, ultimately I'd rather a fighter win by utilising a style he's comfortable with than lose trying to "provide entertainment".
