When you get out of jail and make $400k fighting a nobody. 10K? He can afford to turn that down. He draws in Pitts. People think HBO and now Showtime is the end all be all. Thats why boxing is in its current state. Promoters need to do their job and stop waiting on a HBO or Showtime check.
Its funny how everyone keeps saying "every time Zab has stepped up he lost". He lost to A+ level fighters but he was very competetive with those A+ fighters. The problem for Danny is that he isn't an A+ level fighter. There is nothing special about him. He struggled against Holt, and Morales(who was weight drained). He did close his eyes and land a clean punch on Amir. But he was a round away from his father pulling him out against Khan.
The thing about Zab is he loses on the big stage. On the small stage he is a monster. Garcia fight will be on the smaller stage. Athletically Garcia hands and feet are much too slow to deal with Zab's speed. This is an easy fight for Zab. If Danny is to aggressive Zab just needs to turn him. If Danny wants to box sit in the pocket and counter.
He wants top dollar to fight. He should have taken his April 12th espn fight. Couple low money fights would put his name back in conversation. The money would of been short but I'm sure he would of gotten the Ward fight in Nov. Boxing is a business, so i can understand both sides but 50 not one to lose money. Dirrell signed for a decent amount or he wouldn't of signed.
He wasnt. He just got in the ring with a guy he thought was not any good, but turned wilder was alot better than he thought and stiverne got dominated.
All this dehydration BS you here of is an excuse by Don King to avoid the fact he got his ass kicked or a result of the beating
I honestly didn't see Wilder do a whole lot in that fight. He beat Stiverne but I wouldn't call that fight a domination. I would say more of a let down. I mean there were rounds where Wilder just backed up the whole round without letting any punches of note go. I saw Stiverne get jabbed to death by Austin but this was different. In the Austin fight Stiverne was weaving and throwing the Joe Frazier left hook. Countering those jabs. In this fight he just followed Wilder around the whole fight trying very few counters. I think he looked completely different as a fighter. I think it was very foolish for Stiverne to use Mayweather's gym in preparation for a Haymon fighter. I mean that didn't make sense on any level.
I thought it was Derek Chirosa who was in there with Wilder fighting. Training at Floyd gym and seeing his extreme training makes other fighters try to work as hard as Floyd. The problem is Floyd has been training that way for over 10 years. His body has adapted to the rigor, plus Floyd doesn't strain his muscles he very technical on the heavy bag. Stiverne was training almost 5 months. He destroyed his own body. I don't think and immediate rematch is warranted but maybe a number #1 contender fight with whoever may be justified.
Wilder was far from impressive. Once Stiverne took his power Wilder jabbed and through the occassional right defensively the rest of the fight. Fury stops him in 6. However Stiverne needs to fight in a number contender fight.
what i am trying to work out is the competitive advantages golden boy promotions has over other promotional companies. with news that most fighters are not signed on their contract what resources does gbp have that others dont have access to? do they have tv contracts or something that would force al haymon to work with gbp?
Oscar De La Hoya......If push comes to shove I can see him and Chavev Jr. doing 1.5 million. Don't sleep Oscar is the GOAT of PPV. So I can see him gloving up to save his company
I said the same thing as soon as he lost. He will never get that now. He Zab Judah'd his self. Zab still kicking himself for turning down that 3million dollar check to fight Floyd.
I had the fight dead even after 10. Loma won 11 and 12 on my card.
115-113 Loma. I was rooting for Loma heavily but was throughly impressed with russell. He has a great chin, and the fastest hands in the buisness. His distance, timing and lack of a higer caliber of opponents hurt him last night. People don't want to give russell credit but his speed handcuffed and frustrated Loma at times. Loma figured his timing and distance out late in the fight. He would beat Russel much easier if they rematched. Its time for Russell to get uncomfortable. He needs to fight top guys. Learn how to set up his shots better. The other 24 guys he beat by overwhelming them with speed.
I don't know how Al does it.
Somebody has to be getting fuked.
His"investors" are getting ****ed. I can't believe nobody sees this "ponzi scheme" Uncle Al is running. Fox pays UFC 90million per year to air UFC on its network. Al pays NBC 20million for a few dates, where each show he puts on is over 4 million to operate. With no cross over star (sorry broner and garcia aren't mainstream and Ward and Khan were the only mainstream type of boxers out there) I don't see how he can satisfy hes investors in the long run. He paying these purses out of investor money. With 150 boxer under his advisement. How he can pay all of these guys 1million a fight?
I posted on this very forum that there is no way Angel was gonna let his son fight Zab. I think I posted it Dec 19th that Danny would pull out. Sure enough Angel found a Danny a way out. Danny is the bum. He is a limited fighter. Flat footed, average hand speed, average power. Angel realized during this camp that Danny just isn't upper level. The Garcia's don't want Judah or Mathysses unless they get cashed out for their efforts. {Is Danny a Haymon fighter?)
Zab's in shape, Lucas didn't break a sweat. Maybe Zab will get the opportunity to show their first fight wasn't a fluke on Feb 9th.
Why do people act like Khan didn't get robbed against Peterson? Did Angel not see Khan beating the crap out of his son. Sure Danny landed a great punch but the ref stopped the fight because Khan exchanged with Garcia instead of taking his time to clear his head. Khan can beat Garcia with the jab alone. Angel will fight hard for his son not to rematch Khan. Moreover I think Angel will pull his son out of the fight with Judah. Danny's foot speed is to slow for Zab. If Zab fight's the same way he fought against Khan. Danny will reach all night. Zab very wide, very easy split decision.

Yeah it looks like I was right about Danny. Angel know his son will lose agaisnt the upper level guys. Don't front Zab is A class fighter. Angel is trying to cash Danny out. Even his on dad knows his son got a left hook lottery ticket against Khan. Now he is trying to cash it. If I was Showtime I would black ball Danny.
If Salka can take a punch, he is gonna beat the sh#t out of Danny Garcia. Salka's foot movement gonna give Garcia trouble. He probably won't get the decision but he may do garcia worse than Herrera.
The compustat guys clearly gave Pac credit for punches that didn't land. I watched the Sky Sport broadcast. Even Amir Khan was in disbelief. Before the decision he was lobbying to fight Marquez....lol
