I think Paul Spadafora is a legit threat. I watched his fights when I was growing up and he isn't that bad, he is pretty good actually not great like mind blowing great but he is much better than Guerrero and these other young guys coming up. Very awkward southpaw, crafty, he throws a high volume of punches not powerful but enough to win and make you have to work.
That fight is really the only real marketable fight for Floyd to pitch to casuals since Pacquiao is done and Canelo is a big guy that Floyd will not fight.
Spadafora was a legend on here back in the day for his tough sparring he gave Floyd, and he is undefeated, they have a history there. Its an easier sell than the Guerrero fight.
Roy Jones Jr is his adviser or manager and he can make that fight happen. I hope it comes through.
If Mayweather is the best then he needs to fight the best.
I agree 110%, but considering he doesn't care to fight the best, we are left with findings the best alternatives. Personally, Ortiz and Guerrero aren't head and shoulders above Spadafora. Had Spadafora remained consistent we don't know where he would be.
This is a joke...Spadafora has never been on that level and his undefeated record is 99% against low level guys. He's been fighting small venues his entire career except for a 6 round fight in Las Vegas in the 90's. Just talking about it is crazy. Mayweather has fought enough cherry picks. I like Guerrero and enjoyed the Berto fight...but he was never on Mayweather's level and he's probably heads and shoulders above Spadafora. If Mayweather is the best then he needs to fight the best.

I'm not basing it solely on the sparring match, I'm just stating that because of the sparring match it makes it more interesting. The point is, Spadafora is a southpaw, intelligent, and could potentially be an interesting fight given the options. I didn't make this up either, it's been reported through other boxing sources so obviously there must be some consensus that this is a plausible fight. Not to mention that Roy Jones Jr. Endorses this dude and I'm sure he knows a thing or two more than we do. So obviously it's not as crazy as you think for them to possibly fight.
You serious? Did you even watch the fight? Mayweather had Guerrero figured out after 2 rounds lol. He hit him at ease, it was embarrassing. Not to mention Guerrero kept trying the same thing over and over. He either is dumb or only had one gameplan, I think it's both. Spadafora on the other hand is an extremely intelligent fighter, athletic and quick. His problem is he's had a ****ed up life and been down the wrong path one too many times. But to his credit he's stayed somewhat active and undefeated. Plus he has history with mayweather. So yeah I'd rather watch him fight than some other bum, beside I'd rather him get a payday than any other bum. Mayweather isn't fighting Canelo or Pacquiao or Martinez or any top tier fighter in September. In case you haven't realized, the man is about making money first. He has 5 fights left, you better believe he's going to milk and market the **** out of them while remaining the "greatest".
Yeah the people who are hating are probably new boxing fans who only started following boxing when 24/7 and Floyd appeared on HBO.
Spadafora is a very smart boxer, crafty and underrated. He is hard to fight because of his style and coming from a southpaw stance he can fight inside and out, he isn't a Guerrero he has experience and skills. Roy Jones Jr. has said Spadafora is a top talent who just fell on hard times and made bad decisions but is trying to get back on his feet and do whats right. Floyd and Spaddy at 135 is a fight that people never got to see.

You've got serious issues if you think that this fight would be better than fights against Guerrero or Alexander. But hey, it's good to see you weren't shot by some Black thug yesterday after Floyd won.

It is a legit option, Spadafora not only has the athleticism but more importantly has the brains to compete. The man is legit if he can stay on track, he's not 48-0 for nothing. Besides he already had a good sparring session on Floyd and you can see it would make an interesting match up. Of course, Floyd is favored but it's an interesting match up.
well i mean if garcia/mattheyse/peterson are tied together, khan/alexander in dec, berto fighting in the end of july, ortiz and cotto both coming off back-to-back loses, who is left for floyd to fight except canelo? he's not fighting trout or lara/angulo winner. if he don't fight canelo i don't know who he would fight.
So you sh*t on Floyd for fighting Guerrero, but suggest a match with Spadafora? Put the rum down and go to sleep.
Spadafora is a more credible opponent. You are young I'm willing to bet you never seen him box before he is a pretty good slick boxer, Sweet Pea used to big him up too.

That's who I think he is gonna fight after Alexander in September. I think it's a real possibility.
