You obviously do not know what a P4P list is for or how it works. I suggest you do some research.
As for this list, I automatically put any list that has Ward on it into the trash bin. This list being trash is compounded by having Cotto and Canelo on it as you cannot consider a catchweight fighter in any P4P discussion.
I can forgive a catchweight that is used for the proper reason, two fighters from different divisions meeting in the middle with no title on the line. But when you fight all of your fights at catchweights, your fights cannot be considered for P4P rankings.
So it is really not even worth the time to discuss the merits of the rest of their rankings as the list is garbage right from the start.
How do I obviously not know what a pound for pound list is or how it works? What research do I need to do? Sounds like you are trying to say the list should consist of who is the most exciting fighter. There is no fighter that has done what Klitschko has done. He has beaten nothing but number 1 and number 2 contenders consistently over the past decade. It might not be the style that YOU like, but he has done nothing but win. So i am curious as to what research i need to do in order to know who has been dominating a division for a decade.
Gonzalez hasn't got better wins or the type of dominance that Wladimir and Kovalev have over better opponents, this hype train for this guy is absurd.
People want to jump on the Ring Magazine crap they print.
Truly it should be Klit and Kovalev, then from there you can put their name in a hat and just grab cause it really does not matter after those two. Just looked at Ward's resume and man he went on a great run from 2009 until 2013.
Don't care if you like him or not, but if Klitschko is not first on any list now then the list is worthless. Champion for a decade and has beaten nothing but number 1 and number 2 contenders.
If Ward stayed active I'd likely have him at 1/2 it'd have between him and Wladimir, I'd have liked to seen him fight DeGale or Jack this year that would bring him back for me but I can't just toss someone up in at top 5 when his last good fight was like 3/4 years ago.
I can accept Gonzalez in top 10 and even top 5 but there is no way in hell does he belong at the number 1 spot.
Roman just fought a guy with almost 30 losses. That says it all right there.
Lmao....
Roman Gonzalez and GGG 1 and 2...
Pacquiao and Rigo in top 5 still...
Yet Wladimir barely in top 10
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CE65CFXUkAE4t9X.jpg
I think Cotto Vs Canelo winner could stake a claim to a P4P 1 spot maybe, I mean If you rate Gonzalez or GGG at 1 I mean why not then?
I like both but I'm not gonna say either belong at number 1.
Exactly. Asinine list. Honestly, Klitschko is number one and then I can't see anyone claiming the 2 or 3 spots. Manny is definitely not top 5.
I disagree. I've enjoyed a few fights this year:
Wilder/Stiverne
Thurman/Guerrero
Garcia/Peterson
Walters/Marriaga
Dirrell/DeGale
Burns/Figueroa
Verdejo/Najera
Bradley/Vargas
Canelo/Kirkland
Mayweather/Pacquiao
Jack/Groves
Matthysse/Provodnikov
Kovalev/Pascal
Pascal/Gonzalez
Huck/Glowacki
Estarda/Marquez
Broner/Porter
I can go on all day. And to close the year we are getting GGG/Lemieux, Canelo/Cotto, Choco/Viloria, Bradley/Rios, Thurman/Porter, Matthysse/Postol, Broner/Khabib, Quillin/Jacobs, etc.
This year has been solid.
This states it all. This site truly complains too much. Do not watch the fight on paper, watch it in the ring. The fights that were on Fox Sports 1 Tuesday were great. I love this sport. I can not understand how people complain about more boxing on tv. Wonder how they would feel if it was just on HBO & Shotime.
I've always been skeptical of the fact that pac is making 20 million per fight, fighting rios algeri bradley etc, ur base thay is filed with NSaC IS 7 MILLION, u mean too tell me off 700k 300k 450k u making upwards of 15 million on backend come now
That has always been the weirdest thing to me. I remember them saying he got a check to fight Bradley i believe in the second fight, and the check was 6 million to walk into the ring, but his guarantee was 26 million. Like, where and how is this extra 20 million coming from?
Ofcourse he wouldn't he'd not have the slightest clue how to block a kick to the calf or thigh that and Conors push kick would blast right through Floyds guard.
Every time i read that it just makes me chuckle. "Watch out, I am going to kick you in the calf." Yes indeed, real fighting.
Good point. This explains Lampley's incredible bias-he isn't there to tell us about the fight he is there to talk about HBO and advance their agenda.
I was aware of Lampley being bias towards fighters he wants to win, but I truly stopped liking him once he was choking up when Manny got knocked out. Bernstein seems to call fights as a boxing fan, not a Shotime employee. He gets my nod.
The problem with mayweather is he has found a way to beat the system, but not beat the boxer in front of him.
There are a couple of reasons for this:
In Vegas they don't score draw rounds. If mayweather lands 3 more jabs, they give it to him. If nothing happens, he gets in by default.
Running shouldn't be discriminated against since the sport is about hitting and not being hit. The real problem is when floyd buys time and kills 2 minutes of a round by staying away, then wins the round with about 30 seconds of activity.
These are 2 factors why people say he dominates (on the cards) but in reality he hasn't wooped anyone.
In theory I can see why pacquiao felt robbed, floyd was winning rounds by running, clinching and landing sometimes a single grazing right hand near the end to pick up a round that should have been a draw.
I also question how anyone could have given floyd the first maidana fight? He certainly lost the first 6 rounds and maybe won 2 rounds near the end.
Go find a round in the Manny fight where Floyd stayed away for 2 minutes. Floyd was in the pocket 60%-70% of the fight. People need to learn the difference between running and getting in the position you want to throw your punches.
Middleweight Boxcino Championship tonight on ESPN 2.
For some reason, i think Adams will pull this off. I got to make sure to run home and record it. Want to see this one.
It is just beyond ridiculous at his point. I want to talk about fights that are going on, not one that will probably never happen. It's the same babble from both sides and from fans of both sides.
Another good point by you. I remember seeing my friend father, who is a huge boxing fan, in like November 2009 when everything was good for the fight, then Manny rejected extra testing. From that moment I truly have not been the type to say I want to see this fight or see that fight, I just watch the fights that happen in the ring and enjoy my favorite sport. Wishing and hoping for certain fights is pointless, just watch whats in front of you.
so arum's counter offer is BS but not floyd??? am i missing something here? wtf does banner has anything to do with this LOL!!!
Serious question. Floyd picks up the phone, calls Manny and gives him an offer (that can be negotiated). Manny rejects. Did Arum pick up the phone and call Floyd to give him that offer, or was this again him just talking through the media?
so what happened to "Take the Test and we will have a fight"? lol! :bottle:
It took Manny getting knocked out cold in order for him to finally prove he was willing to take a test.
Im not big on mma but i came across this story moral of story is the kid was beating the kid to a pulp and quit to help the kid. Thought was good story
http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mma-cagewriter/mma-fighter-taps-out-instead-of-beating-on-opponent-205232432.html
I saw that, nice gesture an all, but thats kind of the wrong sport for compassion. But it is better than the knocking someone out with one punch or kick then seeing them fall to the ground and still jump on them and hit them with 4-5 more punches in the face while they are already out cold. Thats what turns me off to the sport. Like this here..........

The dude is out before he hits the ground, yet he still gets hit with 4 hammer punches. A little sick.
Does this look like an MMA forum to you?
just based off what you said, this is one reason why I miss ESPN boxing message board. We used to have nice conversations about many topics, but I guess that is forbidden here. Sad honestly. It would probably help eliminate the first page being nothing but Manny and Floyd threads.
I have not seen all of it, but what i have seen has been very enjoyable. I love seeing up and comers and prospects, and this is a good avenue for them to get exposure.
This is the type of thread that brings hope to me about this board. This shows that there are true boxing fans on this board. I enjoyed the card last night for what it was, boxing on a Thursday. Just starts out a nice fight packed weekend.
I saw that when I was looking at the schedule yesterday. Sad when one of the best boxers in the world is not headlining a card but the co-main to Zou Shiming (SIGH).
thats a very valid point.
Its pretty obvious that the 2 million buys in the oscar fight were all oscar.
The canelo fight did 2.2 million or whatever, but realistically floyd only contributed maybe 600-700k of that. The majority of the buys are due to
a) Canelo
b) Mexican independence day
c) Stacked undercard
You could even add in other factors like the enormous promotional tour which also helped to generate buys.
It's no coincidence that floyd fights guys like guerrero and maidana and only manages 800k even with stacked undercards and cinco de mayo.
Floyd likes to call himself the PPV king, but even he knows his numbers are highly inflated.
I'd expect a true PPV king to do something like what manny does - i.e draw 750k with no undercard against a dangerous but unknown fighter on a normal weekend.
Ok, Floyd only contributed 700k at most (in your eyes) to the ppv. So where di the other 1.5 million come from? And what is this "stacked undercard" that you speak of? Please dont act like Matthyse/Garcia are that big of household names. This is the "stacked undercard" that you speak of right here........
http://boxrec.com/show_display.php?show_id=672751
I think Khan and Broner are more household names as opposed to Garcia and Matthyse.
They are showing the top 2 fights from the Dibella card on HBO2 i think later
They are, and it starts at 10 central. Just want a few more fights. 3 locations and only 4 fights seem wrong.
Lol 6 fights
It will be Donaire-vet on Tape delay at 4ET i think and then Froch-Groves live right after
The top rank undercard can be seen on the Top rank website
I dont see why asking for 6 fights is funny when you have 3 separate locations having matches. I dont do the website thing for watching fights. But it will only be a 4 fight day, from 3 locations.
4:00pm
Boxing
Carl Froch vs. George Groves
Carl Froch (32-2, 23 KOs) takes on George Groves (19-1, 15 KOs) in a 12-round bout, from London, England. Also includes taped coverage of the Nonito Donaire vs. Simpiwe Vetyeka bout from earlier in the day in Macau, China.
Im disapponted honestly. i wouldnt mind seeing DeGeale/Gonzalez and seeing Darchiniyan. Hell even seeing Gradovich would be nice
Don't waste your time. I dont think he smoked yet so he has been all over the map.
GBP put Garcia and Matts on the undercard because there was no east coast venue available. they didn't want to chance putting it on in Cali where niether fighter was really known.
By putting it on the floyd v canelo undercard, the few diehard fans who said they wouldn't buy it decided to purchase it becasee they wanted to see that fight.
How many additional buys do you think that was?
According to someone earlier in this thread, between Canelo and Garcia/Matthyse, they generated around 1.5 million of the 2.2 million buys.
There is no point trying to explain it to you. It really wouldnt matter what I or anyone says, you are simply too far gone for that. At the time it was ridiculous, maybe not if it was now, but back then it was a joke. Everybody not attatched to floyd or his idiotic, gay ass fanboys, thinks the same. Watching you little pricks trying to revise it with the crystal balls you all seem to have pulled out of your arses, is toecurlingly embarrassing and humorous at the same time.
Im too far gone? Asked a serious question, but ok, continue with your name calling and trying to have an adult conversation. Carry on............
Manny Pacquiao Says He'll Fight Floyd Mayweather For Charity And The Love Of Boxing
Pacquiao also said he would acquiese to stringent drug testing, thus rendering all of Mayweather previous issues moot.
http://www.sportsgrid.com/boxing/manny-pacquiao-says-hell-fight-floyd-mayweather-for-charity-and-the-love-of-boxing/
A guy who owes taxes and is in debt in two countries will fight for free/charity, but 40 million is not enough (SIGH)? Can you tell me how that makes sense please. he will fight for free, but wont fight for 40 million dollars. I am really starting to believe that Arum/Manny do alot of talking through the media to make themselves look good instead of real negotiating to try and get something done. Who in their right mind would fight for free, yet in the same breath turn down 40 million bucks? Is it because he wanted to fight for free?
It's always a double standard, the op still has not posted what is the highest $ Pac has made in a fight?? Now I know but I'm waiting for him to say it because it is a thread killer ........
Thats what kills me about these types of threads. Its like they want Manny to triple his highest payday, while Floyd only gets 20 million more than his highest payday.
Good offer for a moron maybe, Pac would have been an IDIOT if he had accepted, you would see this in econ 101 text books 2 decades from now as an example of what NOT TO DO when negotiating a contract.
No NEGOTIATIONS happened, it was an offer that was immediately rejected. Negotiations take place when there is a back and forth, one side wanted to negotiate, one side didnt. Its obvious by hanging up the phone who didnt want to negotiate.
The only people that think the $40m 'offer' wasnt ridiculous are floydspastics. Everyone else can see it for what it was.
Serious question for you. Since you believe that the 40 million OFFER (and I emphasize offer) was not good enough, what would be a good enough OFFER? It just seems as though people would like Manny to make 3-4 times his highest payday (26 million I believe), and Floyd receive around the same amount as his highest payday (which is around 80 million I believe).
