Has anyone else found this year a bit dissapointing? It was set to be a great year but failed to live up to expectations. Some writers seem to disagree with me, however.
There have been disappointing fights, sub-par performances, gift title shots, and a whole lot of *****ing but not a lot of doing. Don't get me wrong, there have been some decent efforts, but nothing from the ones claiming to be the next p4p star.
Wilder received two voluntaries, Mayweather chose an easy opponent, Brook isn't doing anything at all, Khan kept whinging, Broner has been given a title shot, Pacquiao didn't man up and accept defeat, and the less said about Wards comeback the better.
It's been below average.
I think if you try and list the best 10 fights of the year, or even 5, and compare it to a truly great year, the lack of quality fights becomes glaringly obvious.
When I say quality fight, I don't mean "one where your favourite fighter won/guy you dislike lost". I mean sustained two-way action, heated exchanges and some drama. How many fights really meet that criteria this year?
It's been an entertaining year, PBC has made it interesting by putting on cards in the afternoon. Kind of reminds me of watching fights on ABC World Wide World of Sports when I was a kid.
Looking forward to the fights this weekend as well.
The fact that we got Floyd PAC already made it a great yr. just didn't end to well for some fan boys. Now canelo cotto. There has been some good fights this year
Original name? Are you trying to say Im a lost Pacquiao fan? Nice try you truly have no clue. What are you 16? To a fanboy like yourself anyone who isn't on mayweathers nuts like you is a *******. That's why I say this year is a great. It's mayweathers last and Pacquiao is an after thought. We can finally start to rid the boxing world of fanboys on both sides and give the real fan there voice back. Lol boxing newbe fanboy.
Sure buddy. Sure. We believe you. Honestly, we do.
I'd say it's been pretty good, but not great.
There are still some good cards to come, so if they live up to the hype, then that will turn it up a notch.
I've highlighted the ones Id ever watch again.
Kevin Mitchell Vs Jorge Linares
Give that one a watch it was good, I don't believe the user noted that one but it was a half decent fight action packed.
There has been some cracking fights on this year but in terms of the Pacquiao Vs Mayweather fight I agree it did leave a foul taste in the mouth of real boxing fans, we all have one common interest we watch this sport to be entertained and both men were at fault more so Floyd for not pressing the action against an injured opponent.
The year could end on a very high note though so stay tuned Is what I'd say.
Deduce what you want from when I joined but I guarantee I have been watching boxing religiously way before you were born. So I have different perspective on this sport compared to someone who only came on when Floyd got big.
Loooooool. Nice try alt. Come back and post under your original username when you grow some balls.
Hugely disappointing year led with the ****fest that may-pac ended up being. Matthysse-Provo was solid but pretty disappointing as well considering it was a pretty one sided fight.
Almost every PBC card has been garbage save the Marco Huck upset.
The only fight that stands out to me off the top of my head is kovalev-pascal. There have been other pretty decent fights this year but nothing really stands out.
The rest of the year is setting up to be pretty solid though, GGG-Lemieux, Canelo-Cotto,
Gonzalez-Viloria should all be guaranteed great fights.
I feel like it was one of the best years for boxing in a very long time. There were good fights in many divisions. It is a sort of transition time as we're right in between eras right now but I think boxing is really going to pick up steam over the next 5-10..
I disagree. I've enjoyed a few fights this year:
Wilder/Stiverne
Thurman/Guerrero
Garcia/Peterson
Walters/Marriaga
Dirrell/DeGale
Burns/Figueroa
Verdejo/Najera
Bradley/Vargas
Canelo/Kirkland
Mayweather/Pacquiao
Jack/Groves
Matthysse/Provodnikov
Kovalev/Pascal
Pascal/Gonzalez
Huck/Glowacki
Estarda/Marquez
Broner/Porter
I can go on all day. And to close the year we are getting GGG/Lemieux, Canelo/Cotto, Choco/Viloria, Bradley/Rios, Thurman/Porter, Matthysse/Postol, Broner/Khabib, Quillin/Jacobs, etc.
This year has been solid.
If all the fights scheduled actually take place (plus Klitschko/Fury), I think it will turn out to be one of the best years for boxing that we have seen in the last five years. It could have been a lot better, but with boxing, what we have gotten this year is about as good as it is ever going to get.
At least im no Fanboy, FANBOY.
Looooool. You seem salty about something....
I wonder what that is....
Hmmmmm......Joined May 2015....
Most likely an alt of someone who can't dare to show their face around again.
Let's all go swim in some salt water. We'll feel better afterwards
Sugarkaine, I have been in some battles.
PAC not winning, donire being destroyed. Chavez jr being humiliated. Broner looking stupid again. Too much in one year. Malinaggi deciding to stop whatever it is he does & commentate.
I hope all boxing fans unite and let this years controversies go, and look forward to new ones.
Hopefully we can focus on the new crop of warriors, who train hard & fight hard.
I think this year has an amazing line up of fights.
Most of the disappointment came from the "fight of the century" but overall it has been great year for boxing (minus the trashy "PBC" cards lately)
Great fights
Bradley-Vargas
Matthysse-Provodnikov
Kirkland-Canelo
Quillin-Lee
Garcia-Peterson
Broner-Porter
Mayweather-Pacquiao
Golovkin-Murray
More good/great fights:
Thurman-Porter
Fury-Wlad
Saunders-Lee (if any of them ever happen)
Matthysse-Postol
Raymi-Salka
Golovkin-Lemieux
Cotto-Canelo
Broner-Allakhverdiev
Brook-Chaves
Fielding-Smith
Joshua-Whyte
Gonzalez-Viloria
Bradley-Rios

I bet with mayweather out the game now you will have a different saying about next year if given same type of fights only minus mayweather. I bet your tune won't be the same.
WTF are you on about? When did I mention Floyd? What does my post have to do with him?
there were lots of great fights this year but it all went down the drain when this so called sweet science (hug, clinch, potshot, run around the ring and boxing is a bidniz) style of boxing almost destroyed the sport. :Flush:
i'm pretty sure, starting this month the sport of boxing will be back!
