Joshua has the physique but he doesn't have it mentally, he doesn't have that Mike Tyson killer instinct. AJ should retire before he gets hurt.
He has the size and arguably power but he kept feeling like he had to "box" to keep up his carefully crafted image. He can brawl against most, look at his pre-Ruiz wins.
MLB stadiums are all different too.
Styles make fights.
Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder requires a bigger space than a women's atomweight bout.
And you do know that not all heavyweight fights take place in the bigger rings. Don't act like it's uniform based on weight class that I could respect at least but it doesn't work that way.
Jake Paul is not the best ambassador for boxing right now for the younger generations
Who is then and more importantly who are the young kids actually looking up to now in Boxing if not Paul?
Kids used to grow up idolizing Marciano and Ali and Tyson who is there but the Problem Child?
Actual boxers. Boots Ennis, Virgil Ortiz, both in their early 20s. Not with the media following of Paul but are real boxers putting in work. Heck even Devin Haney could be admired and looked up to
The average Gen Z has no clue who those names are so they are irrelevant to the question. Are any of them getting young kids to lace up in the gym? no but Paul is and that's the point.
He started to gain weight during second Chisora fight. Fat is better for body punch absorption though. Prime Fury is fat Fury. (Wlad and Wilder 2)
Having a strong developed core is what works for shot absorption. If it were fat historically all HW champs would have had beer guys when we know that's not the case. Fury does well despite the fat that hangs off him now, not because of it.
LOL if Francis thinks he has any leverage. Considering he was manufactured and nurtured his way to the title.
If Dana was smart he'd do what he did with Conor and take like a 70-30 cut of the profits. Whatever Francis is left with would still be his biggest peidei by far.
I have a few friends who were interested in conor a couple of years ago but aren't interested in his fights anymore and say he's not an elite fighter anymore. I don't think he has that "it" factor anymore I think it's long gone.
Mike Tyson had better fan loyalty than any fighter in Combat Sports History imo.
I agree with your friend but his next PPV is still gonna do over 1 million.
I’m talking generally, they’re are obviously some real dumb boxing fans too. But boxing fans generally have fighter standards. For example, McGregor vs Cerrone is essentially like Canelo facing Rosado. Do you really think the latter would sell on PPV?
You can say that's because Canelo is not nearly as popular nor does he have the amount of devoted (non-Mexican) fans as people think.
Remember this iconic image of 'Nelo's PPV fight being delayed to allow the Masvidal vs Nate Diaz fight to be done lol

Who in their 4th professional fight has fought a UFC champion caliber athlete like Paul did?
Most boxer are literally (in the case of Canelo) fighting taxi cab drivers at that stage.
Hearing reports that Putin will remove all leaders in Kiev whatever way necessary. Sadly I don’t see this ending well for Vitali.
I know his pride will be hurt but Vitali needs to get out of there, it’s a lost cause, Russia already taken Chernobyl now which was huge.
What a sad way to go man, imagine doing all that in your life, training all those years, winning all those titles, just for a madman to end it. So sad
This may shock you but there are still real men out there. Not so much in the west but they are out there and they will go down with their ship if necessary while others may tuck their balls in and run.
I can't believe his legs are that skinny. Looks like he hasn't done leg day in his life. I can't imagine a scenario where adding muscle there would take away from his power as well. Very odd decision to never train legs. That's what he should have been training to deal with Fury's weight, not the bench press lol.
To try and support all of Fury's weight, some leg press and squats would do a lot more to help him out than the bench. That's crazy
There's a reason strongmen athletes don't even or barely train bench, it's the least applicable exercise to real world strength. I'd add standing shoulder presses to your list as something he should have done over benching.
Wilder has some hella dumb trainers with him.
Deontay is built like a basketball player
and fights how you imagine a basketball player turned boxer would fight too
he starts windmilling and jumping around
I agree for the most part but not all basketball players have stick legs. LeBron's got some thangs on him.

Many blacks have skinny calves it’s genetics
while asians tend to have fat calves
Wilder doesn't just have skinny calves he has stick thighs too. That's not just genetics but a lack of putting in any work there.

He has as bout a good a chance of beating them as they do beating him except Usyk. Usyk just soundly beat a fighter vastly more skilled, bigger and almost just as big a puncher as Wilder. Usyk toys with Wilder...
Did AJ fight like a big puncher against Usyk? That's all Wilder knows how to fight. He may go down on his shield but he's not going to try to fight the way AJ did the last time.
Could Usyk get back up from any of those 3 knockdowns Fury took from Wilder is also the question. He won't have 270 lbs to brace those shots.
Fury beats the brakes off the very limited Valuev. 9 one sided rounds and the towel comes in.
Do you really think Fury's pitter patter could do much do Valuev's Neanderthal skull? Deontay was put down as much by exhaustion from carrying around the Gypsy's weight.
Kids will go to finish high school and continue their education. Understand that combat sports, DO NOT work like other sports.
Society has change there are many more opportunities for people these days. A true definition of a sport was a leisure activity, boxing really? Is not a leisure activity.
It is not a game, or a sport really
You can say the same about MMA really and it's always had its share of suburban white boy fighters. You can say Jake Paul is copying the schticks of Conor McGregor and Colby MAGA Covington hard.
The success of a sport whether it's boxing or curling depends a lot on how much can fans relate to the athletes.
Your kind of right.
jake Paul out draws Canelo and Pac people just hate admitting it
Exactly. Look at my post just above about fan relatability. Few people in American can relate to an Irishman who exclusively speaks Spanish and it's clear cut where Manny would struggle in that regard.
Jake Paul is to boxing what Eminem was to rap and people are mad.
Next time just PM REDEEMER. He will definitely give you material regarding AJ’s looks.
My guess is he’s using those pictures you posted right now for “relaxation”.
Nice but I don't use AJ pics for relaxation but for motivation and inspiration.
Jake Paul is a marketing genius. He’s bringing back boxing back to America.
I love white hypes. Always been a fan of them going back to Jason Litzau and even Kelly Pavlik.
He admitted picking Tyron Woodley was part of that ploy as Tyron had the "right look" i.e Black and jacked.
The thing about your theory is there have been many crossover failures from the NFL...
FIghting is..different.
Here is a list of NFL players turned boxers. Most beat journeymen then were KTFO
https://boxingjunkie.usatoday.com/li...ame-pro-boxers
The thing is of course someone who spent years from childhood practicing one sport will likely fail transitioning to a new sport in adulthood. Up through the 90s the highest paid black athletes were almost all heavyweight boxers, Mike Tyson was making more than any NFL or NBA player barring Michael Jordan, a middle aged George Foreman was raking in mega millions. So if you were looking at making the most money in a pro sport and you were big boxing made sense. Is it a coincidence that Americans lost their decades long grasp on HW dominance when the pay for basketball and football players started to reach Mike Tyson levels? Deontay Wilder would have gone on to be a basketball player if he didn't have the health issues of his daughter come up.
Either way this is not really what the thread is about. Where are the uber talented lightweight class black athletes? I'm talking skills, I'm talking fast twitch muscle, I'm talking Hagler vs Hearns round 1. Where they at? Cuz they are not in the NFL or NBA.
NFL and NBA salaries aren't going to hurt the market for boxers in the light weight classes. It only impacts the larger weight classes. Which NBA or NFL player is weighing 140 or 150 pounds?
Yes, that is literally what I said.
Lol Wilder within a couple of seconds. Ngannou is a mma fighter with crazy power for a mma fighter. in boxing his power would be within the upper 20% of HW, but thats it. His skills are 0. Wilder isnt very skilled himself, but he is Sugar Ray Robinson compared to Ngannou.
Lol not anymore

If you compare each of their last fights you can argue that Big Frank looks like the more skilled one.
Your avatar is top notch. Death to commies!

A person who ''won'' an EXHIBITION match that earned him $100 mil can be an embarrassment ?1?!?!?
How is that possible and who is making this claim
Everyone. Not being able to put away a literal Youtuber in a boxing match who btw is the less talented of the Paul brother YouTube boxers and was previously beat by another YouTuber, is massively embarrassing. Making money off it doesn't make it any less embarrassing. Many people debase themselves for money.
