I firmly believe the explosion in the salaries of NFL and NBA players gutted a whole generation of black americans who may have gone into boxing as heavyweights but chose otherwise. Leaving that aside where are the modern day equivalents to Marvin Hagler, Tommy Hearns, Sugar Ray Leonard? These were not big guys and definitely didn't have the frames to have entered the NFL.
We had Floyd I suppose but even he's old news now. Where are the prospects?
Is he trying to say there's no good black fighters from 160 on down? :lol1: What the hell's going on here.
No, I think he's trying to say the exact opposite, but it seems like he was using voice to text or something. Reading his OP, it seems as if the title should read "Why are all the black fighters 160 and below" rather than " Where all the black fighters..."
Exactly.
And at 147 (the weight division of Hearns/Hagler/Leonard) there is Spence, Crawford, Thurman and Porter.
There's Jermell Charlo. Shakur Stevenson. Gervonta Davis.
OP really mentioned Hagler, a middleweight. And there are tons of Black middleweights. Stupid thread if I've ever seen one. LOL.
LOL, do you even watch boxing?
Colbert, Stevenson, Fulton, Aleem just to name a few 130 and below.

THIS!
As well as Gary Antonio Russell and Josh Greer at 118
The thing about your theory is there have been many crossover failures from the NFL...
FIghting is..different.
Here is a list of NFL players turned boxers. Most beat journeymen then were KTFO

The thing is of course someone who spent years from childhood practicing one sport will likely fail transitioning to a new sport in adulthood. Up through the 90s the highest paid black athletes were almost all heavyweight boxers, Mike Tyson was making more than any NFL or NBA player barring Michael Jordan, a middle aged George Foreman was raking in mega millions. So if you were looking at making the most money in a pro sport and you were big boxing made sense. Is it a coincidence that Americans lost their decades long grasp on HW dominance when the pay for basketball and football players started to reach Mike Tyson levels? Deontay Wilder would have gone on to be a basketball player if he didn't have the health issues of his daughter come up.
Either way this is not really what the thread is about. Where are the uber talented lightweight class black athletes? I'm talking skills, I'm talking fast twitch muscle, I'm talking Hagler vs Hearns round 1. Where they at? Cuz they are not in the NFL or NBA.

NFL and NBA salaries aren't going to hurt the market for boxers in the light weight classes. It only impacts the larger weight classes. Which NBA or NFL player is weighing 140 or 150 pounds?
Yes, that is literally what I said.
It’s hard for white Americans to get down to those weights. Too much food. It’ll be only Mexican Americans who will fights at the light weights because most of them are tiny small.

There are plenty of them. Every company has a few coming up. Some will make it, some won't.
Who knows where young guys like Haney and Stevenson will go from here?
