Not teaching him the basic fundamentals of boxing. Good Lord. Ricardo Mayorga is Floyd Mayweather with a mix of Pernell Whitaker compared to Kim.
I go to a gym here in South Korea and his lack of defense is not surprising. The gym I go to there is an old fighter whose eyes look in different directions. He was showing me the basics and he had me position my hands about a foot in front of my face. This essentially left me defenseless against any kind of attack. He was adamant that I "defend" myself this way, and made baby sounds when I tried to keep my hands up.
This seems to be the norm for Korean fighters, how many Korean technicians have you seen in the ring? They put more emphasis on guts and heart.
Yes, good stoppage, Rojas was completely out of it.
Aleem definitely didn't impress, and you know he's being pegged for something...he's got one of the chipmunk twins in his corner...
Maybe I will, But it's probably best to ask Marquez :boxing:
Why even create a thread under the pretense of actual intelligent discussion when it's so obvious that your only interest was in baiting and trolling others?
I just don't understand...
You guys watched Rigo's early fights, right?
He was fighting much lesser fighters and in general looked worse. He made easy fights look dull, at least this kid comes to fight. I'm not saying he's ready for Rigo (who only really impressed me vs Nonito) but he's definitely a great boxer who will be a champion before long.
Also can't believe someone said he doesn't have snap on his punches, ridiculous.
SRR was a huge POS and most insiders knew it. He squandered away most of his purse money on cars, women, and booze most likely and probably beat his wife down when they argued over his constant womanizing. But his skill speaks for itself so yes peeps give him a pass
Regarding Cassius, bc I refuse to call him Al! out of my disrespect for this guy, he sucks as a man. I can look past Vietnam but can't ignore treatment of Liston, Frazier, or Foreman. Glad he's got Parkinson's because karma is the biggest ***** you'll ever get f@cked by
What an absolutely asinine thing to say...and I'm referring to all the above
firstly, anyone giving someone a pass for beating a woman because of "skills" is hideous. You're going to argue that you're not one of those "peeps". I would argue that you are indeed one of them. Equating a woman beater with someone who self promotes and taunts opponents is tantamount to being accepting of the obviously worse acts being discussed.
You have condoned beating a woman, but being mildly disrespectful in an attempt to entertain, that's where you draw the line in the sand. That sort of thing is the point at which people deserve incurable disease...
ok, got ya!
By the way, your unwillingness to even say the man's name says a lot as well.
I honestly didn't like the DQ. I didn't like the way Vic was controlling the fight, he was clearly susceptible to Rios and Garcia and their constant suggestions of Chaves being dirty. I don't feel like Chaves did anything that I would consider so far outside the rules that it warranted points being taken away let alone a DQ. That being said, I don't think Rios deserved to have a point taken away either. The holding just wasn't excessive.
I feel like if Chaves was fighting anyone but Rios (a face first, very one dimensional) then he wouldn't have had points taken off him. Everyone wanted a brawl and when Chaves was fighting smart, sticking and moving, turning Rios, and clinching (which is perfectly acceptable), he was penalized for it. Hell, if it wasn't Chaves, if it was Abril or Algeri...do you think they would have taken points off them?
People wanted a blood bath, after the first round Chaves started to try and alter his game plan, and it was clearly frustrating Rios (hence the whining about holding). I think that influenced Vic and ultimately lead to the DQ in the 9th.
We couldn't even see what Rios was suggesting Chaves was doing...
I think if they fight again, Chaves can win an easy points victory if he boxes the way he was in the mid rounds.
Floyd has a pretty decent resume and has been a champ for a long, long time.
He "might" even crack a top 20 all time p4p.. Would be really difficult to argue that he is top 10, let alone the best ever.
I respect the guy as a fighter and a champ, but when we look back and examine fighters, it will be very difficult to look upon him as anything more than a superb defensive fighter with a slightly above average resume. Unfortunately he won't be remembered by fight fans in the way others will be.
Let's not talk about 5 year runs, let's look at his entire body of work and compare it to other greats. When you do that, there is much to be desired.
My only real complaint is that the introductions/ringwalks felt very reality TV. The whole generic gladiator music didn't feel right at all, and didn't represent the fighters, especially a guy like Broner.
Anyway, I'm hoping they will make some changes and it will get better with time.
Let's not forget that Soto took some huge punches in that last fight, he just happens to have a iron chin, something Broner does not.
I think it'll be an interesting fight and if Broner doesn't try and move it could be a painful one for him.
If he does move, he can win easily.
Yea kids shoe size you rat. Do you know what that is or do I need to translate it for you midget. Don't worry I already apologized first for your f4ggot comments too bad you didn't catch it. I feel sorry for you dude how old are you for real 40,50? Are you going through a midlife crisis cause you just cut people's lawns while living with your mom in a house full of rats, I mean fellow Mexicans. I mean what is it?
You're quite possibly the most vile and ignorant poster i've come across on this site, that's an amazing distinction...
Let's get real here. Jennings is a no hoper just like most of Klitschko's opposition to date. Klitschko to this day even with the help of Steward is a very flawed and vulnerable fighter. He is upright and stiff, doesn't throw combinations, zero inside game, no bodypunching lacks variation in his attack, can barely go 10 secs without engaging in a clinch and his chin is still as glassy as the night Sanders did a demolition job on him. He is just lucky that he doesn't have any great fighters to compete with in this era. Imagine if he had a young Mike Tyson, Lennox Lewis, Evander Holyfield or Riddick Bowe as his mandatory. Deary me. His brother was a much better fighter than him and would have easily beaten him.
your picture looks very familiar....
That was an absolute farce...
- I had Botha actually winning on points, despite what the ultra biased commentators thought.
- as mentioned above and by Botha's corner, this was a 12 round fight apparently. How in the hell can the ref decide that he's gonna change that and make it a 10 round fight?? It's so obvious that everyone knew he was about to go down and fast...just incredible.
- SBW should have been deducted points a number of times for holding, he had absolutely no response for any attack that Botha launched, just hugged and hugged, and hugged.
SBW has no future in boxing, you could even tell in his post fight interview that he knows it.
I don't know why I'm getting so worked up about such a pointless fight, but Boxing is hurt by crap like this..
I'm not a Floyd supporter by any means, and if what she says is proven to be true, then he deserves all of what the justice system has to throw at him.
That being said, having a press conference is so very unnecessary. This is not something that needed to be made public. This reeks of someone whose sense of self importance doesn't completely align with reality.
You don't make any sense. Matthysse fans and *******s are the ones who spout stupid ****. You honestly have dudes on here who are PAC fans saying floyd ducked a prime margacheato. Atleast broner fans keep it real, broner and garcia stacking that bread and I love em for that. **** y'all haters hating on grown ass men.
I really don't think that last sentence applies to Broner, the way he conducted himself during that Steve Farhood interview was far from mature. He has some skills, nobody can really dispute that, but he's pure trash as a human being. There is nothing likeable about his personality at all. I don't understand how anyone can find Broner cool, though I guess I just don't understand the young'ins.
Garcia on the other hand, he seems like a pretty likeable and level headed dude. I think a lot of people tend to associate him with his ridiculous father, which makes sense, but they are clearly very different people.
Well Floyd did post the picture of her sonogram on the internet
Good point, I'm not absolving Floyd of anything (I really dislike him). She clearly has motives which you could question. The press conference screams it.
The bottom line is that these people are made for eachother, they deserve eachother.
Trash finds Trash.
He must be pretty special. Who else has ring card girls and a post fight interview after their fight in a middle school gym. He looks like he has good support, which will help him.
Good luck to him, seems like a nice kid who wants to succeed.
15059708]just STFU!! and that filipino girl in ur avi is beat to shiiet!! not sure what u were trying to accomplish with that LMAO!!!
How lame, attacking someone's wife.
I never post, but people like you are ruining this site, get a life, clearly you need one.
Wlad's class is seriously being tested by this buffoon. It's too bad Wlad has to deal with this joke, even when he's trying to have a meal.
I really hope Wlad can avoid stooping to this guy's level..
