WBA 'regular' junior middleweight champion Erislandy Lara (19-1-2, 12KOs) is not impressed with the record of Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (43-1-1, 31KOs). They are set to collide this Saturday at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Lara points to Canelo's record being built on victories over smaller and older fighters like Jose Miguel Cotto, Carlos Baldomir and Matthew Hatton. He thinks Canelo has a bad attitude and walks around with a big chip on his shoulder.
He doesn't believe Canelo will be capable of dealing with his style, because he never faced the best competition at junior middleweight, and says that is reason why Canelo struggled against boxers like Austin Trout and Floyd Mayweather Jr.
"Canelo is arrogant and an inflated boxer. I really don't like him for his character, in addition to him being inflated. But it's not something that's personal [for me]. He doesn't realize what kind of trouble that he's going to have when he faces me. I am superior to Canelo Alvarez in every area," Lara said.
