This fight was meant to bring boxing back to the mainstream however I don't think it was a particularly great event. Fights way below par and i'd grade it C+ at best. It's 5am here in England so disappointed in Molina but I genuinely think Matthysse took his soul. Main event was not bad, what grade would you give it?
I thought the overall production was fine tbh, it didn't make me enjoy the show any less. Maybe it's because I didn't watch every minute of the telecast that I'm not complaining about anything. The match-ups should be top priority, and as long as they get that right, then the production quality goes unnoticed.
HBO and SHO, especially HBO though show us brits how production should be done - the only thing that irks me is the inherent bias but youll never be rid of that
They usually make UK shows look feeble in comparison, especially Boxnation ones, ITV and most of Sky's. If i look for video replays for any fight, id prefer to pick the HBO coverage if available, not a UK version
This PBC thing though, with the gladiators music and donning the fighters in suits, genuinely had my household in hysterics last night. It was like a mix of who wants to be a millionaire and boxing.
Just keep it simple, professional and sports-like, not a gameshow.
This first card just looked to be showing the mid-level fighters around, in competitive fights which is great. But if we are ignoring titles here, how can you do this for the champs of the division? There wasnt really any premier boxing champions on show last night, just a few contenders. World titles need to bw reformed, not attempted to be replaced. Having two systems like this just wont work
That part was awful everything had a reality tv based stink to it.
Exactly this. People *****ing about lighting and cuss words are missing the point. It was a very good night for boxing. People flipping through channels saw live boxing for the first time in forever on network TV. If they stuck around for the second fight they got an entertaining fight. The productions will get better and if they give us good fights this could be really good. HBO/Showtime have showing boxing forever, this was PBC first card. I can't believe I am one of the only one's celebrating an Al Haymon card, its just weird reading these comments.
Network tv does have limitations and I expect the next card will control for those limitations better.
If this exact same card was on BAD there would be far less complaints IMO.
I'm going with a B-/C+ because the Thurman v guerrero fight was great. I thought the entrances were not too good. Leonard was horrible. Al and marv will get better.
Broner took another step back for me. He talked about the showmanship aspect before fight then after talked about the complete opposite he has too much talent to look the way he does.
One of my boys came through to watch with me. Lucky he missed the 1st fight. He was very excited during the Thurman/ghost fight and afterwards said he wants to see the next card. So if this gets more casual fans this excited, then that's a good thing.
Molina should be banned from tv. Ghost will keep getting work. Thurman isn't quite ready yet. Broner needs to learn how to be a pro. Needs a new trainer. Bhop and nazim save his clown.

F - If possible, this was like WWF/WWE the look and feel was so cheesy if that's a real word it felt fake. the lighting was to bright you could see the whole crowd. 19 more broadcast God Help me:lame:
I would say a solid B. At the end of the day we got a really good main event and that's what matters.
The production needs some work, it looks too corny and they should go back to traditional ring walks and introductions. It felt out of place on a boxing card at the MGM.
Disappointed in Broner. Molina was tailor made for him to land big shots and have a spectacular KO and he still played it safe. He even said after the fight the last time he did it for the fans he took an L so it looks like he is playing it safe, which is a shame because he hasn't done anything in the sport to earn that.
They are doing 20 of these shows this year. NBC puts on Super Bowls. I have to think the production quality will increase.
Excuse me? I hope that wasn't a sly dig about me because a nickname should not offend a grown man. Very rude and uncalled for.
no dig at you. I didn't even notice your screen name when I made the comment
I really appreciated the nice brisk pace of the production. No bloated annoying ring walks with loud slurring rappers...we didn't have to sit through 3 national anthems being performed by soul singers who hold each note for 30 seconds and rearrange the tune.
It moved along nicely and looked great.
My only real complaint is that the introductions/ringwalks felt very reality TV. The whole generic gladiator music didn't feel right at all, and didn't represent the fighters, especially a guy like Broner.
Anyway, I'm hoping they will make some changes and it will get better with time.
The production was an A.
If you want to grow the fanbase beyond laughable slim shady wannabes and assorted trash, you need to get rid of the entourages and rap concert ring walks. Restore the class of the sport. Make it something an adult will watch.
A ring announcer is fine if it's the classy Lennon or Buffer, but it's a slippery slope to the buffoonish Bruce Buffer or some other disgrace.
It was a good presentation. There are a few tweaks to make, but they are on the right track.

Your remark about restoring the class in the sport was spot on. ...One little detail I liked about the production, was the pics of the fighters in suits.
Nice touch. ...making it out to be the gentleman's sport it once was hailed to be.
but LOL> soon after, we see Broners antics in the ring.

I'd give it a 6/10. The Broner fight was a disgrace and the main event was pretty one sided till after the KD when all of a sudden Guerrero went mad as hell and started throwing everything. Thurman was tired af at the final bell and was looking to coast, imagine if that had been a 15 rounder?
The post fight interviewer was **** though and the entrances were weird, they just go and stand on a platform? lol
In order for this PBC to work long term, all the boxing promoters need to suck up their ego's and work together. BUT yea, doubt that will happen.
Eventually after the Haymon matchmaking continues, the fights will get dry and limited.
They need all promoters to work together.
C-, and the only reason its that high was because Guerrero and Thurman saved the night.
Should be a solid D, based on the first fight and commentary.
Definietly had a different feel to it. I like the interviewing and stuff. Didnt even mind at all no Annoncer or entourage although the walk out was silly. Give them there own music please and at least let the cornerman walk with them.
