People close to him have said he fought for money. Robinson said it was a business for him. He was a diva and tough negotiator. Joe Louis was great inside and outside the ring. Louis had his demons too. He once choked the hell out of a mistress over a golf game. Alexis Arguello, like Louis, was a classy guy with personal demons and issues with drugs/alcohol/depression and had some incidents where they were violent towards women.

Why do you guys give a flying freak what these guys are like outside the ring? They take a beating to the head for a living. You expect them to be normal? You are not perfect yourselves and will never be great at anything so what fuels your hate for others who have worked hard and overcome many obstacles to be great at something. We're all ****ed up in some way. Some of us just channelled it into doing great things.

As far as it changing my opinion, no it doesn't. I've known about this stuff for quite some time though. I judge him on his boxing career. I don't worry about his personal life. I don't condone any of that, but I don't let that cloud my judgement as a boxing fan.
