Jhonson looked much more skilled than Gutteriez, and he was going to cruise a victory. But that stoppage was BULL. I think Gutteriez is over the hill at this point, he just can't seem to come across a victory as of late. I hate his disposition, too. Alot of talk with not a whole lot of bite.
Lara took Molina too lightly and IMO lost that fight. He is SOOOOO lucky that he still has an undefeated record, I feel badly for Molina. Molina brought some intensity and passion to the fight, and if it wasn't for a tapered off work rate in the last 2 rounds would have the decision. I think his gameplan was perfect and perfectly executed, but he didn't have the stamina to finish and was looking out for that left uppercut from Lara.
Love the idea of reasonable ticket pricing, but there are alot of issues that come with an outdoor ring, and the atmosphere didn't seem all that great for a feature fight. My opinion might change upon seeing a bigger card fight there, though. The screen showing the fights is a pretty cool idea.
Cotto > Mayweather in the sport.
Cotto has lost to an all-time great (who would embarrass Floyd) and lost to the plaster in Margarito's handwraps. He never dodges anybody, didn't make excuses not to fight Pac, and when he beats Margarito in the rematch and Floyd ducks out of the Pac fight for good, Cotto and Pacman will fight again. Cotto is a fighter and a class ac., Mayweather is an arrogant punk who doesn't want to fight, but just does it to collect a paycheck.
very disappointed at Shane, he had his man hurt big time and didn't pull the trigger, fukk Shane, he sucks without his PED's.
Shane was actually better without his PED's.
I like the idea of overtime, for sure. To add to it, they could give both corners the option to accept/decline overtime and if one declines, the other is declared the winner. If both decline, it ends in draw. But it would add some serious atmosphere to the fight.
I think Judah puts up a surprisingly tenacious fight, but Mosely is the the better boxer. Safe money would be on Mosely, but I expect a SD in this fight.
please, motherfucker, you're too worried about his looks you fruity pebble.
:bryce: I was just talking about how he is a negative image to the sport... I read a great quote in a Sports Illustraded yesterday that said "I'd rather see boxing go out with pride than survive on arrogance" This is a direct response to Mayweather claiming to "Save Boxing" after he ran from De La Hoya
As far as being articulate (not nessecarily staying on task) he'd be okay. But I know one thing for sure. If I had to look at his ugly noggin every time I watched FNF, I would be one unhappy individual. :grr:
There's no doubt in my mind.... Pavlik either by UD or KO in the late rounds. I just hope Taylor agrees to fight him. No disrespect to Taylor (He's the current champion) but Pavlik seems like the perfect candidate to knock him off the throne. He's seems so much bigger. I hope they agree to fight, though... boxing really needs a big fight between two big names, hopefully one that ends in a knockout. I'd really love to see the fight, though...
I live in Arkansas, and around here the Taylor fans are typical Razorback fans. Taylor lost- lots of bitching; Hogs lost- lots of bitching; on and on and on...
She's just betting on him so she can get votes for Ohio.
That's exactly what I was thinking.... she's already won Arkansas, no need to back Taylor now that she has the hillbilly delegates.
Oh, Hillary- :bryce:
No way... Mayweather is way too quick and is alot more sharp as far as defense.
Cotto would get smacked much harder and much more often than he ever has before.
Colombia probably produces the biggest punchers hands down, Puerto Rico is up there. Only difference is Puerto Rico has better quality fighter/punchers than Colombia, but Colombia still leads. Mexico isn't really all there, they just seem to be aggresive fighters that wear you down.
Mexico seems to dominate the lower classes moreso than the big classes, and as a nationality seem to have the greatest speed. :boxing:
Wow to say he doesn't stand a chance is a very strong statement. Are you sure that is the position you want to take? Clottey is a grossly underrated fighter with great defense and until proven otherwise a great chin...especially if you think Marg was plastering everyone in more recent fights. Clottey has much more than the slim chance you give him to win.
I guess we'll just wait and see... but I just have a gut feeling that Cotto handles this one really well to forewarn either Pac or Mayweather about any upcoming fights. If he doesn't look ahead (he's a focused fighter, I don't see him doing that) he can really run the table in my opinion.
IMO, speed and skill are more advantegous, because you can overcome small size with skill, but it's hard to overcome a lack of speed and talent with size alone... unless you're fighting a guy with the same pitfall.
Agreed Cotto will Box this guy and fight him when he has to or feels its right. Clottey is good but he tucks up in his shell for to long over the course of a fight and it could cost him against a guy with Cotto's skill set and steady work rate
This is along the lines of what I'm thinking. The only chance I think Clottey would have is if he got Cotto out of his new rythym with his new trainer... but when he tucks into that shell, Cotto is going to run the table. It'll be like a football team that runs up the middle 3 times, then punts. You can't win against an agressive opponent like that.
Easily scenario A.
I'm not as interesting in Mayweather/Pac as everyone else. I just don't think it'd be as competitive. I'm more interested in Pac/Marquez 3, and Cotto/Mayweather. Those are the fights that should happen.
Absolutely on that one! Mayweather-Pac would be a megafight, but I like the Mayweather-Cotto matchup better. And I would love to see Pac-Marquez 3.
Floyd wont to war with anybody. Defensive fighters, don’t take pouches vary well.
Mayweather isn't agressive enough to give JMM a "Mexican War." He spends 75% of the fight backing off, ducking, and waiting for an opening. It's a successful strategy, but not the most agressive or exciting.
Based on what future business could come of it, I know it's better for Cotto to win homey. But I think Clottey is on that 'mad as hell and ain't gonna take it no more' tip. Dude's been passed over too many times, and is really bein overlooked. I think he's gonna show up in top form and give Cotto hell.
True... but Cotto is a warrior. He's never passed on a big fight like B-Hop did on him. This is a good matchup here, but Cotto is the better fighter. He'll win because of that.
