Agreed this is a bad style match up. Look at Mayweather-Gatti and this is what it will look like but Cotto will be much more competitive in terms of fighting back. Cotto is just too available to be hit by accurate counters. Zab had the left hand there all night and just didn't throw it. If Mayweather fights his game, Cotto doesn't land nearly as many punches and gets punched a lot morei agree fully. the left chin was exposed to be hit, and zab is a southpaw with a nice uppercut. he just didn't throw it like he should have and he waited to throw it too much. he should have jabbed more and then threw some combos. zab hardly threw punches. floyd picks his punches wisely and eben though cotto can pressure well, floyd's stamina is second to none and his overall intelligence in the ring is way above cotto's. cotto would be crushed by the pretty boy.

cotto doesn't want to fight mayweather and he knows it. floyd mayweather is a boxing phenom with intelligent rign savvyness and he is fast as hell. i've posted this so many times, cotto would get killed in the ring with mayweather and not taking anything away from cotto because he boxed beautifully against zab, but floyd mayweather's style is grade A. he has the style to beat, and i don't see anybody from 154 down beating him, not shane mosley, not margarito and not cotto. cotto put on a great performance tonight excluding the low blows but he stayed poise under the pressure and he stunned a few times against zab, and he fought masterdully tonight. he impressed me like never before, even though zab was an easy target. he would not throw any combos. cotto threw some great combos and kept relentless pressure on zab all night. he stayed more active and didn't stop punching. but, i feel, and maybe it's just me a few others, had cotto not hit zab low, zab would have had cotto in serious trouble. zab would have beat cotto's face in after that uppercut, because cotto was stunned. but, cotto recovered well and perfomed great. not taking anything away from miguel, zab is not a floyd mayweather jr. floyd is a boxing god, plus, he knows how to win, and he is so damn smart in the ring. with cotto's style, could he have beaten oscar? i don't think so, but it would have been a good fight. floyd vs cotto at 140 or 147, floyd whoops his ass bad. styles makes fights right? floyd's style would be too much for cotto's style, and miguel knows it.
You sir, know nothing or near to nothing about boxing. Cotto did that because Zab Judah WASNT THROWING! He was tired after round 3 for god's sake. When he was throwing Cotto was nut-hitting. Thats the way i see it and many see it they just wont admit it because of the rating system. Notice my new red. I don't mind. I speak my mind. Ok i disrespected cotto and that was out of line. But i truely cannot have respect for a fighter who nut-hits on purpose the 2 times he could go down. Tonight Zab showed something new. Hearth. Bad bad fight for him. He needed some more fights before. Corruption in boxing even can make one think of his (Zab's) previous opponent has quitting too soon under Cotto's corner "suggestion" so Zab wouldnt his shape back for the fight but i wouldnt go as far. tonight i also learned Cotto is a fake fighter. He is not alone but he is. Unlike Zab vs mayweather, Cotto didnt do it on rage, he did it because he decided to. Zab early rocking of Cotto was stopped because of two precise low blows. Saying those were accidental would be BS because low blows rarely occur in boxing that way. In kickboxing, yes, naturaly but in boxing accidental low blow rarely ever happen. this is point a) point b) Cotto has done it before. c) the low blows happened in precise timming! combine that please. Cotto = great stam, poor chin, (yet great recovery) fake ass person. I'm not a fan anymore (i almost was at one point) Nobody can sell me THAT guy.
listening to you cry is disgusting. "fake ass person", "fake fighter". you keep squealing about those low blows like zab is a saint who never deserves to be wronged and has never done anything like that before.
"he decided to". oh, and zab didnt?
you act like cotto is notorious for throwing low blows like hes andrew golota. hes had one point deduction in his entire career (for low blows in the corley fight). hes done it once. zab has a history of fighting dirty.
your complaining, nut-hugging, bais, and prolific excuses disgust me. zab was being classy for once. maybe some will rub off on you, but i doubt it.
P.S. its "TIMING"
Absolutely not...
Cotto might have a chance if he introduces a few blows down south to try and slow Foyd down.
Otherwise, Cotto is in over his head, and Bob Arum knows it and wouldn't risk his golden egg. :boxing:
Judah lasted until the 11th round, meaning there's a 99% chance that Cotto won't be knocking Mayweather out and a decision is out of the question so no, Cotto would get schooled..
Did you not see the waves of punches coming from Cotto tonight? If he could do that against Floyd, particularly trying to land the body shots as I think that may be Mayweather's soft spot, then I don't see why he couldn't beat him.

EHN OH. floyd would jab, stay away as usual, and get an uneventful decision. cotto might catch him and bang the body, but i just dont see floyd losing this fight.
Lets just say that you cant really compare Zab to Mayweather. Cotto is way too one dimensional for Mayweather... Mayweather loves fighting against brawlers and Cotto is just a brawler..
No Way...
I think he could. Relentless pressure, body shots, power, decent speed. Just the chin he has to worry about.
Floyd is in the 5th dimension compared to Zab.
Cotto would surely make it a tough fight, but he'll end up like Oscar if not worse.
Just my opinion. :boxing:
well, mayweather doesnt have a slim female waist like judah does. so cotto would have an easier time landing bodyshots.
both zab and floyd throw pot shots, just floyd throws more of em, if cotto can pick em off, or stop em.
lol shit....you'd be lookin at another bruised up fighter.
First of all, i don't think the fight will happen. If it does happen Mayweather would have whooped that ass so bad.. Cotto is a B+ fighter Zab is a C fighter. Mayweather doesnt even compare to neither. Even old De La Hoya could prolly beat (prolly?) Cotto... Unless Cotto hit his nuts like 3 times...
No way... Mayweather is way too quick and is alot more sharp as far as defense.
Cotto would get smacked much harder and much more often than he ever has before.
He throws alot of punches but he is economical and slow with them. He would need to throw with less power and with more speed. Basically, more in volume because Floyd would see the left and right's coming all night long. He would need to fight like Aaron Pryor to have any sort of a shot in my opinion.
If you look at the way De La Hoya boxed against Mayweather he tried to box in short bursts 3 or 4 times a round but often the punches were blocked or were weak. If Cotto employed the same tactic he would, presumably, be able to have more of these bursts per round and also be more accurate which could see him win enough rounds to win the fight. Mayweather's pot shots wont look like much compared to heavy pressure from Cotto.
I just think Mayweather is too smart to lose to Cotto. He's not going to stand in there. And Mayweather will primarily stay in the middle of the ring and pop him straight through the guard.
As a huge Cotto fan and Mayweather fan..... Cotto would get dominated!
everytime Zab threw quick shots and counter he hurt Cotto... Mayweather would be putting a clinic.... total mismatch
Ive said for a while now that Miguel has the tools to beat Mayweather. Could he get it done though? Im not sure. Mayweather is so quick, and intelligant in the ring. Despite what people say he is really one of the best fighters ever skill wise. Its just his resume after Lightweight that hurts him. Its a fight that has to happen imo if Cotto beats Margarito.
And I want to talk about Cotto's chin for a second. Im honestly confused by it. I realize hes getting hit with quick shots while he comes in, and Judah is a big puncher. I dont know what Larry was talking about. Its just weird how he reacts like that, and then gathers himself so quickly. Then next thing you know hes back on the offensive. Maybe its his heart and determination, maybe his chin isnt that bad? I dont know.
Oh god no. Floyd wins on cuts. Cotto is far too economical to beat Floyd. You have to outwork Floyd with waves and waves of punches. A guy like Ricky Hatton could do it. Cotto would not because Floyd would just pepper him with shots and probably stop him on cuts.
Did you not see the waves of punches coming from Cotto tonight? If he could do that against Floyd, particularly trying to land the body shots as I think that may be Mayweather's soft spot, then I don't see why he couldn't beat him.
Didn't think so before, but now I do.
Are we all forgetting how well Jose Luis Castillo did against Mayweather? You don't have to be a volume puncher like Hatton to beat Mayweather.
Mayweather won't be able to get Cotto's respect with his light punching and tiptoeing away, instead Cotto will cut the ring off and trap Mayweather in a corner with his tail between his legs and start unloading.
