Is anyone picking Clottey to beat Cotto?

No, I have cotto winning a competive fight.

I can't see Clottey winning. I've watched some highlights and clips and while he looks good I have seen Cotto fight as well. Seems like after Margs people fell off the Cotto bandwagon and forgot why they ever got on it. It's almost like they forgot the first 8 rounds of that fight. It's like his one loss negates his performances before that loss which is absurd if you really think about the one loss on that record, and then think about the wins on that record. I don't have any points to bet, but if I did they'd be on Cotto. Most likely by UD.

Agreed Cotto will Box this guy and fight him when he has to or feels its right. Clottey is good but he tucks up in his shell for to long over the course of a fight and it could cost him against a guy with Cotto's skill set and steady work rate This is along the lines of what I'm thinking. The only chance I think Clottey would have is if he got Cotto out of his new rythym with his new trainer... but when he tucks into that shell, Cotto is going to run the table. It'll be like a football team that runs up the middle 3 times, then punts. You can't win against an agressive opponent like that.

I dunno if I'm picking Clottey to beat Cotto, but I certainly want him to win. And IMO against Margs they were both level on points - draw for Clottey, and 95-95 for Cotto before the knee.

I got Clottey by KO late. Said it since day 1. agree with that man, im gonna say clottey via late TKO. personally i think clottey has been overlooked way too often by fans, media, boxing journo's and networks. hes gonna come in hell bent on hurting cotto. hatton once said (this was after cottos fight with SSM) that despite his skills cotto could be broken down. a few months later margarito showed us how its done. clottey like margarito is about as tough as they come, very well conditioned, can take a shot and is very big for the weight. defensively clottey is a good fighter he has a high, tight guard and not much gets through, offensively his 3/4 punch combo's are much more explosive and accurate than margarito's. i see this fight going in the same direction as the margarito vs cotto fight. the bottom line is this - COTTO CANOT TEK ME PONCHES!!!

based on what future business could come of it, i know it's better for cotto to win homey. But i think clottey is on that 'mad as hell and ain't gonna take it no more' tip. Dude's been passed over too many times, and is really bein overlooked. I think he's gonna show up in top form and give cotto hell. exactly!!!!!!

I have never seen Clottey fight, all i know is that he holds the IBF belt, lost to Margarito, and beat Judah(who pretty much sucks now). I still hear that he is good though but having not seen him I pick Cotto because I know what Cotto can do. Has anyone that has seen Clottey picking him to win? Clottey is a big strong welterewight, he has 2 loses to baldomir in which was was winning until he got DQ'D for a low blow, and margarito where he hurt his hand but the fight was still closer. This is a FIGHT!!! No cake walk, it will be tough and gruelling all the way to the final bell but i beleive the better man is Miguel Cotto and he should get a close but clear decision. Disagree? Name ur bet :boxing:

this is going to be a tough fight. if cotto goes in there sleeping, he's losing no doubt. That's very true, but Cotto is too good and too experienced to let that happen. There's alot on the line in this fight in terms of future bouts. He'll forget about that in the ring, and just fight- but you better believe that'll all run through his mind as he prepares for this fight. This isn't his first rodeo.

cotto's biggest advantage will be his speed, while clottey holds the advantage in defense. once again, like margarito, cotto shouldn't go into this fight "trying" to get a KO, cuz it most likely won't happen. if he fights clottey like he fought margarito bad things can happen.....cotto has better speed, better movement, he should use 'em, and not mix it up too much unnecessarily...... that being said, cotto won't use his advantages, and the fight will turn into a boxing slugfest, so clottey has a very nice chance here.

I'm trying to remain objective but I think Cotto is really going to lay into Clottey like never before. The Clottey vs Margs fight is a poor barometer. Cotto doesn't throw wide and as slow as Margs. He's precise and has unique timing. His defense is underrated, he his susceptible to uppercuts however. They both have stamina issues in the championship rounds, but Cotto has faced better opposition and will handle it better I think. Cotto is more powerful, more agile, better movement and has much better interior fighting skills. I won't say a KO, but I think a comfortable 8-4 fight with Cotto pulling away late
