two fights in one night, that would be crazy.
Is that even allowed?
I say this because if anyone can win 2 fights and have the stamina to do so it's Mayweather.
It'll add to his legacy and greatness in a huge way and the PPV numbers would be crazy with everyone thinking he may lose because of the 24 rounds. It's definitely something that would make boxing history and it would be something shared on the news worldwide as it'll be the first time a high profile boxer has done that.
2 opponents for the night that would make sense are someone like Malignaggi who isn't a hard hitter and maybe an Amir Khan who Floyd perhaps would put to sleep. Add in a decent undercard and you definitiely have 3m+ PPV buys.
I'm not even a Floyd fan but I think if anyone can pull off such a thing and come out the victor then it's Floyd and it would be a night no one would ever forget.
Nice, TC. I was thinking about this the other day, but I was thinking Wlad Klitschko. Back to your topic. I think this would be awesome. I'm not a Floyd fan either, but I have to admit, that is a PPV I would get. And I wouldn't get it just to see Floyd lose, but to see him pushed to his limits. Win, lose or draw, he would make me a fan. See this is exactly why I give Floyd a lot of crap. If anyone could do it......it would be him. Floyd still has a chance to really make himself great and stand above everyone else. Now he is on the list with the ATG's, but he could be on his own list all by himself if he would have tested his limits.
Great topic TC.
Look on the bright side....floyd aint losing...except by ko.like jones
Something I learned is once some one on their level loses it has to.be a ko....add that money.is a lil bit more technically sound than the unorthodox jones....you are ok
Some fighters are just too.good to lose a decision in their prime or even near it....jones was 35 mayweather is 37 he not jumping amd dropping 20+ pound's like jones
This is good stuff.
Heres whats interesting. Floyd stans love to brag about how floyd has the two biggest PPVs. One with DLH, the other with Canelo. "bu but, floyd sold those fights, thats why so many people tuned in".
In the fight after DLH (Hatton), and Canelo (Maidana), he can't even break a million.
Floyds star is nowhere near as big or bright as he and his online team want you to believe.QUOTE]
LMAO!!!! Nice.
i wasnt trying to address anything LOL. i looked at the link u posted and thought it was great that manny made it to #3 when he's not even an american. look at the other names on that list, all americans. name another fighters from another country that is on that list?
Yeah I have to go with Evol on this one. That's pretty impressive considering he is not american.
A good argument can be made for all these hypothetical ducks on both sides.
That's the reason this fight needs to happen.
I'm a PAC fan and I can come up with a great reason why it's Floyd's fault.
A Floyd fan can come up with a great argument on why it pacs fault or now arums fault.
Both take on easy fights and they are the bigger ducker at the time. The next year the other takes the harder fight and the
Script is fliped.
This is post is as real as it gets. Nice.:biggthump
Of course he's beatable. Every fighter is beatable.
But Floyd's beaten pressure fighters comfortably before.
Corrales, Hatton, Castillo 2, Chavez, and he beat Maidana.
Not that Floyd doesn't often struggle when under pressure, he has. He obviously had moments of bother in all of those fights other than Corrales.
But, it's hardly the "blueprint" considering he's managed to win all of them. He has tools that work against it, obviously.
Plus, last weekends fight doesn't really prove anything considering the stage of career Floyd is in.
Now it all makes sense as why Floyd wants nothing to do with Pacquiao. Manny would put a beating on Floyd.
Ugh.
Maidana was not a "cherry pick" opponent, FFS. He busted his ass for years for that opportunity and earned the right to be opposite Floyd with his demolition job on Broner.
I know that you Pacquiao worshipping twats will say and do anything to discredit Mayweather (and vice versa, to be fair) but calling Maidana a "cherry pick" isn't insulting to Floyd - It's insulting to Chino.
I give all the credit to Chino. I think he won the fight. To be fair....seems like some people are just pointing out that Floyd took the easy route. Plus look how big of an underdog Chino was. Seems like the same things are being said after the fight that were said leading up to it.
Are you talking about the same Pac that was put to sleep by JMM?
Some of you guys conveniently forget that Pac has been KO'ed three times.
Yes. That very same Pacquiao. Manny was giving Marquez a lot of pain and he got caught. That's boxing. Floyd doesn't have that power and probably would have been already out of the fight if he took the shots Marquez did. Pacquiao is even more dangerous. This fight with Chino is a little reminder as to why Floyd should stay away from Manny.
The only person out there more deserving than Chino of the fight with Floyd this past Saturday is Pacquiao, but we all know the possibility of that one happening is slim and none.
Remove Pacquiao from the equation and the only guy that was worthy of the fight was Chino. Who else could he have fought that actually earned the right to be there and had a fanbase big enough to justify the PPV purchase?
Nobody.
To be honest....it wouldn't have matter who Floyd would have fought on Saturday. Everyone wants to see him in with Manny. Anybody else is going to take some heat for that. I'm sure we could make a case for a few other fighters out there, but Chino earned it.
Nether the blue pairs or red pairs were touched before the controversy by anyone from Maidanas team.
-Fight night gloves are shipped directly to the commission.
-The red gloves and blue gloves are the exact same
-The blue gloves were shipped in suran wrap due to the custom paint, hence the look of being used. The red gloves were packaged in an air tight sealant.
-Directly from an EA rep. All MX gloves are made the same. Custom gloves change paint only.
-Initially Ellerbe felt the blue gloves and said block these, they then felt the red gloves and said block these two. WHY? BECAUSE THEIR IS NO DIFFERENCE IN THE RED AND BLUE GLOVES BESIDES THE WAY THEY WERE SHIPPED.
-Ellerbe and May now want to block horse hair in gloves, even though it is widely used in many brands and by many boxers....
CHINO WILL WEAR THE RED MX'S AS THEY ARE COMMISSION APPROVED AND THE FIGHT WILL GO FORWARD. THERE IS NOTHING ELLERBE CAN DO. NOW STFU.
Thank you. I'm not sure how you could have made this any easier to understand.
I agree it would weed out a lot of casual boxing fans.
100% in agreement with this statement. For those that don't know already.......you will realize how bad Floyd is for the sport when he is gone. He is a virus that has infected the sport of boxing.
I would go with Cotto by late round TKO/KO. I think this would be a great fight. IMO Cotto does not get enough credit for his boxing. I would have questions about his stamina, commitment to body punching and going back down in weight, but I think he could pull it off.
I thought Zab had the best chance of beating Floyd. Based on everything SMS mentioned in his post. Plus, I've always been a big Judah fan. Zab definitley had the physical tools to get the job done.
I think Rodriguez has the better shot at pulling off an upset. I still look for Cotto to win, but him being at 154 still bothers me. I thought the move up from 140 was a good move, I just wish he would have stayed at 147.
That is the same with almost all fighters. Wlad will be top 10. I'm not sure where Vitali will be ranked. He's a dominant champion but he could have done more. The Lewis fight proves he amonst the greates when you think about it.
Agreed. It's kinda sad when you think about it. Not sure why it's so hard to appreciate fighters when they are actually fighting, opposed to being retired. I can only comment on the Boxing I have watched through the years, but I feel the HW division is going to be in pretty bad shape when Klitschkos reitre. Just from a global standpoint it's going to be a major shift.
I would go with Floyd by a UD. The last guy to match Floyd in the speed department was who.........Zab. Could be an interesting fight. I would at least like to see someone in there with Floyd that has a speed advantage or at least comparable.
Like you said there are a lot of factors to consider. I think the only way Ariza could be more beneficial to Rios camp over Pac would be the tension between Ariza and Roach. It definitley didn't help things.
I have to agree. Robert seems to be able to tap into a fighters desire to win imo. Maidana is a fighter at heart. That combined with Garcia is a lot more than other fighters have had going into a fight with Floyd. I wish him good luck.
I can't argue against that. Motivation is a powerful tool. I agree....I think the corner of Canelo let him down. I was reading another topic about Canelo and a somebody mentioned that he just didn't go all out when it came to it as a last resort. I really don't think Maidana will have that issue. To me, it doesn't really matter what Floyd or Maidana has done before this. I'm giving Maidana a clean slate. He's coming off a major win, and he is definitley going to be in a different mind set when he fights Floyd.
Thanks bud. I'm just contributing to the sweet science. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Cheers!
I'm not pointing anybody out, but come on. If you had anything to say about Paquiao being one dimensional, having a low ring IQ, being just a brawler, etc....it's pretty obvious this video just proved those people wrong. I swear most people do not take responsibility for their own actions, much less admit when they are wrong.
WAKE THE F*** UP!!!
This video of Pac is like giving someone proof that there is aliens or proving to an atheist there is a god. Open your eyes, swallow your pride, and admit that you were wrong.
Yup if Floyd see's this video he will go another vacation. This time for good lol
The clamor for these 2 to boxers fight is resonating everywhere in the boxing world. The pressure is on for Floyd to go on vacation lol
I usually just read the posts and don't pay attention to who posted, but Spoon....you don't let these guys get away with s**t. Lol. Funny stuff.
What he said.
I don't mind giving Floyd credit for what he has done up to this point, but one thing is very clear, if a good portion of the boxing world is questioning him in this era....imagine how it would be during the era of Leonard, Duran, Hagler, Hearns, etc.
If this is really true and Bradley was not wearing socks........lol. I hate to admit it, but it probably saved him from getting knocked out. Just think how this fight would have ended if Bradley wasn't wearing iceskates. He would have had more exchanges with Pacquiao and that could have led to a UD for Pac or a stoppage. Have you guys ever seen a dog running on a tile floor? That's what Bradley looked like. Socks or no socks he hurt his ankles trying to avoid Manny like a swarm of bees was after him.
Anyone saying that the sport would have been better without him, is blinded by hate.
I mean, hate the guy, that's fine, but he's got people watching. I routinely hear things like "Boxing is dead, except for Mayweather and Pacquiao".
I can't disagree with you. I've heard it myself and I'm sure others have as well. Now that his career is coming to close, we really are seeing the impact he had on the sport. I just want honest opinions. Not just hating the guy and wishing he was gone just for the sake of it.
because apparently marquez vs alvarado winner becomes the mandatory challenger for pac's title.. which fight you prefer to see? pac vs marquez 5 or pac vs alvarado 1?
I picked Alvarado. Would be something different from Marquez. I don't give him much of a chance to win, but he deserves a shot and a big payday.
Big Fan Of BOTH and I have no problem admitting it. A lot of the young fans get into this MMA vs Boxing Crap and most of them don't know sh1t about either sport
I respect both sport and the guys who do it for a living because it takes HARD WORK to be successful at it.
I just been watching Longer and see boxing grow and its rich History. MMA is still growing, haven't had those Historical Moments in their sport yet
That's my bad. I should have worded my post a lot differently. I don't want to compare them to each other. I'm looking for why do you prefer boxing.
