Floyd fans can skip to the part in bold below
I was reading through the posts about him being missed......and....S**T....there are some people that really, really don't like this guy. I'm in the same section of the arena as the ones who say he chose opponents carefully, and should have fought this guy, etc. But to want to see him gone and retire really says something about Floyd. I mean there is genuine hate for this guy. I stopped following Floyd just before he changed his name from Pretty Boy. I would go out on a limb and say it started around that time for a lot of people. I made a topic about a week back titled
"The one thing that Manny has that Floyd never will"
I didn't have the heart to make a topic about "who will be missed more". I think today I finally realized how much good and bad he has done for the sport more so than any other day. The weight of every move he has made since stepping into the ring seemed to all land at once. I understand why his detractors feel the way they do, but to hear that a lot of people will be happy when he retires is f***ed up.
Two questions to all those that despise Floyd and his supporters...
Looking back from now, would any of you rather of not had him in the sport at all?
And, would boxing be better off or worse if Floyd never entered the ring at all?
Floyd is only a detriment to the sport to Pac's fans. It bothers Pac's fans to no end that there is another fighter out there who is actually greater than Pac. That's why you get threads like this.
Anyone saying that the sport would have been better without him, is blinded by hate.
I mean, hate the guy, that's fine, but he's got people watching. I routinely hear things like "Boxing is dead, except for Mayweather and Pacquiao".
Absolutely. One will be hard pressed to find someone else with his star and drawing power in the near future. When he's gone for good, folks will be making threads about the sport needing someone who can fight, is entertaining, AND has drawing power, "Cause the fighters nowadays are lame as heck and couldn't sell themselves out of a paper bag."
The majority of fighters today don't have the charisma or star power to keep fans watching what's going to be his next move or what he will do next.

when did skills come into play according to your logic its all about having the most money to become TBE not fighting the best
Quote part that you got from my logic, and try to make sense of what your saying. I Didn't even mention TBE in that post you quoted lol?? You are trolling me. I wont reply.

Floyd added a new dynamic into the boxing world today. He became the antagonist and portrayed the antagonist very well. He became the epitome of the boxing-money maker. He was one of (if not the first) first boxers to take control of their finances and really steer the direction of his career, rather than letting his handlers do it for him.
I think he's set an example for other boxers to have more autonomy- and for that I'm glad he's experienced the success that he has and has influenced he sport in the way that he has.
pretty sure Ali did that first, Duran also played the antagonist, then tyson also played the antagonist.. Mayorga was a way better antagonist, he would at least mix it up in the ring.
and Oscar was the first dude to take control of his finances
;14461643']Oscar was good for boxing too. and your point?
I think about more spectators/more audiences/more exposure for the sport.
You choose to think about money! Money! Money!.... the hate is so sad
bob arum - TBE according to your logic
Oscar de la Hoya did all this what your trying to say is "floyd the richest" no ones gives a fuk about how much money he has.. do you feel everyone has to worship bill gates or jay z and beyonce just because there also rich and richer than the fraud

;14461601']x Floyd has been a blessing to the sport of boxing, Vegas/American Economy.
x Floyd Fight Generates $$ for businesses, transport, accommodation, gambling + more.
x Fighters and trainers recognize his greatness and inspired to teach up and comers.
x Others paved the way for him. Well he paved the way for the next PPV Star to try break his records and bring more spectator/exposure/fans to the sport.
Any Boxer that's broken records/made history and dedicates their whole life to the sport always deserved to have laced up!
Floyd is good for boxing, Anyone says otherwise doesn't support the sport.

Who's "T.B.E."? We'll never know, will we?
T.B.E can be recognized with facts/numbers, plus/minus, achievements/records.
I can safely recognize T.B.E of my era just by watching them box "skills" just like i can watch Ronaldinho or Messi of Barcelona of my Era and recognize "skills".
its looking at the individual themselves, rather than ... who you beat and who lost to - too many negative variables (i.e weight/past prime/lucky punch)

;14461554']If we all agree Pac was to blame for the 2009 negotiations, why do we always blame mayweather for not fighting him in his prime? find ure next reason to hate buddy.
Who's "T.B.E."? We'll never know, will we?
He could've fought the best available possible (in their prime) but he chose not to. That hurt the sport a bit; Floyd would've most likely beat them too, but a prime Pac vs Floyd is a 50/50 fight and I still give Pac a great shot at beating Floyd now.
I do believe Pac is still a bit quicker.

I respect Floyd's talent and work ethic as well as his desire to handle his own career. However, and I've said this before, he's not a fight fan's fighter to me. I'm certainly not a fan. Now I don't wish he would have never fought. That's ridiculous to me. I don't wish that about any fighter. I appreciate him making boxing more mainstream I guess, but I don't care if people want to say it's dead or if they want to talk about it on ESPN. For me, boxing will carry on without a hiccup. Some will miss him. Some won't. That's just how it is.
My question is, how will Floyd handle it? How will he be when the big money stops rolling in, and he's out of the limelight? I wish him the best. We'll see.
i think the sport would of been better without him. Now we have people asking about ppv sales and how much money fighters get paid. Now if you are on top you not only get to pick your opponent, you can also chose when to fight. if you keep callin yourself great and looking good against "picked" opponents people will either see the truth or keep drinking the cool aid. I also cant seem to understand why people act like all the great fights never got made is something to be proud of. If floyd would of fought the best and never ducked nobody he wouldnt be undefeated, and im positive he and his father know this. I remember seein acouple of threads about floyd beeing compared to some of the greats and i was just amazed of people on here.
ATG post right here green k on the way homey

The one thing I'll never forgive Floyd for was his retirement in 2007. Lame.
There was nobody left on GBP to fight at the time. Pacquiao was supposed to be a showcase fight for Oscar to rebuild towards a rematch. Pacquiao took everybody by surprise then. Maybe Mosley, who Floyd tried to fight prior to Oscar. At the time Top Rank had most of the WW talent and that ship had sailed.
As said, the sport wouldn't be better off without any top fighter, especially one displaying the versatility Mayweather is which is unique, some people :nonono: :nonono:
