The problem with Taylor in his last fights wasn't his legs, it was his hunger and conditioning. Silk PJs syndrome... Also, let us not forget that victories over a few top name opponents (Prograis, Ramirez, Baranchyk) that were overhyped made him look better than he actually was. Catteral exposed him first and Teo finished the job.
Taylor literally said it was conditioning lol. He said he injured his foot and wasn't able to really move after the 5th or 6th rnd lol
Something needs to be done about judging. It feels like that is about the only thing that boxing hasn't even attempted to fix. I think judges should have to watch the fight in a room on a monitor so that they arent swayed by crowd reactions or just stuck looking at 1 angle
I just will never understand these guys like matias who have avg power but refuse to get out the way of a punch. It just makes me wonder wtf are you working on in training camp. Just with a little defense,he probably knocks dalton out lol.
Floyd s not the type to admit how hurt he was
that doesn't exactly answer the question lol.
what fighter ever admits they are badly hurt though lol.
wilder still swears fury never hurt him lol
Fraudweather wasn't able to fix Corley back then. When they got the money after bribing oscar fishnets to play soft with his jab, floyd and haymon were able to call the shots and buy off anyone who wanted the payday. But those who they could not buy off were ducked (cotto, margarito, harris, martinez, golovkin 154, thurman, crawford, spence, williams).
what on earth does this have to do with the question i asked lol?
And when was the last time HBO released Mannys numbers?? all i am saying is damn keep it real on these damn forums
bob arum releases manny's numbers lol.i could care less about numbers personally, but 850k is still huge regardless of who it is
Floyd 8-4. Maybe even 9-3. Worst I could see is 7-5 Floyd. Rematch would be 10-2.
i had it 7-5 floyd.floyd clearly won 4 and 12 though lol.marcos landed nothing in rnd 12
i think he is both over and underrated.he was clearly a very good fighter.he has a decent resume.his best wins being hopkins, kessler, lacy, bika.the tricky thing with him is that it wouldnt be fair to say he ducked guys like jones jr,hops, and toney as their was never any call over here for them to fight him.i thought he would lose to both lacy and kessler.i say he is under because i feel he would be competitive with anybody of the last 20 years while i say he is over because his resume is soft
Difficult position for Canelo he's in a division with a lot of difficult fighters in that are a bad style match up, Molina, Andrade, Charlo Brothers still out there for him to fight.
It's a shame for him there aren't many in his division like Angulo who are a good style match up for him. Kirkland perhaps.
He's done well despite looking bad in beating Trout and Lara, obviously looked spectacular against Angulo. And no shame of course in losing to Floyd.
he didnt look bad in beating trout and he looked as good as anybody could against a guy who refuses to engage
i actually thought lara would have a chance before this fight lol.but if you cant routinely hit a guy like canelo,i really cant see how he would have much chance against floyd
Lara got hit in the head a grand total of 15 times in 12 rounds and looked like he hadn't even been in a fight except for the cut . All canelo was doing was coming forward chasing and looking stupid except for 3 rounds he was pressuring well with body shots the rest was laughable. Obvious gift decision and if you are out there you know that's the real consensus sh*t even the experts who people here touted where picking Canelo over Lara had Lara edging it by 2.
problem with this theory is that outside of rnd 1,2,3,lara had 0 clear rnds.he outlanded nelo by 10 punches,so please stop acting like lara put on some clininc
I pretty much agree with the overall consensus that Lara did some good things but not enough to win the fight, Canelo was mostly the one making the fight all night, Lara moved a ton and did more thna move other times, and he somewhat took advantage of the rules moreso then mastering them.'
However, in his defense I will say that I dont think he wanted to fight like that. IDK what it is because Canelo is not a one punch KO artist but I havent seen a guy swing like him since Foreman or Tyson. Just looks like every punch is about to chop you in half. He looks huge in the ring. I never ever watch a fight and say a guy is on the juice (and I in no way think Canelo is either) but he just looks different then everyone else in boxing right now when he's swinging. He looks so much more stronger & powerful.
I argued with people after they said Angulo took a dive. I said No, that fight ended in the first 10 seconds when Canelo through that vicious hook that was a shock to AA's system. He thought he would be the hard hitting bully but that very 1st punch was something he never felt before and it stayed that way. Lara met Caneo in the center of the ring and for the first 10 sec it almost looked like he was going to be the aggresssor but very quickly Canelo was again throwing bolo punches
You could tell it was freakin Lara out a lil bit and it hurt everytime it landed, especially in the body. Some people are on there bike because of pressure but with Canelo its different. He's like a physical machine right now where its shocking guys systems. I think he did what he felt he had to do. He never really dealt with anything like that before. He dint want to fight like that but felt he had no choice and could maybe steal some rounds in the process. Canelo is getting older and more experinced. He's still not super great but he's a handful and those shots hurt or are different from what the oppponent anticipated
i agree with you.lara was not the same after that 4th rnd.he wanted no parts of any contact after that.i think the thing that throws people off is that nelo has slow feet but really fast hands.kid is just 24 and is fighting fights that most dont get until late 20's so i think he is at an absolutely peak physical stage
9-3 Lara, I will watch it again when not with a crappy stream and sober, but I promise you before even doing so the most I could give to Canelo would be two more rounds, so no matter how you slice it Lara wins in my book.
Cleaner punches, more power shots, better ring generalship, the skill gap was apparent, aside from the cut he even looked like the victor using the "who would you rather be at the end of the fight" comparison, in fact, other than hit air, look foolish, and chase Lara around the ring with ineffective pressure, im not sure what Canelo did to win rounds. I can't give rounds to the pressure fighter if his pressure is ineffective and his opponent is outthinking him and controlling the ring. It goes against everything I have been taught in the gym and in the ring.
some people just hate for no reason
canelo outlanded lara by 30+ power shots smh
1)lara
l2)ara
3)lara
4)canelo
5)canelo
6)canelo
7)lara
8)canelo
9)canelo
10)lara
11)canelo
12)canelo
cant give lara either of the championship rounds.he didnt even attempt to close the show.was content just circle the ring as if he had a huge lead.just a ****ty perfomance
In all actuality Pavlik would of not only beat Williams he woulda knocked him out... Williams is wayyyyyy to easy to hit, leans in with his punches to, doesn't use his height, and doesn't have the speed to box Pavlik for 12 rounds, the power to keep him back, or the chin to take his punches... Williams woulda been the one jumping out the ring that night lmao
i used to think pav would beat him also but the version of pav that fought martinez wouldve got his ass kicked.im not a paul fan but he comes to fight and takes a good punch
the worst part is that pavliks camp originally wanted the fight pushed back 2 weeks and williams camp said no.paul couldve been the undisputed mw champ which wouldve got him big fights between 154 - 168.really stupid move
big difference is dirrel wasnt asked if he wanted to continue.cintron was asked and said no.not only that he tried to lie and say he was forced to quit.when jones got ko'd by johnson he sat in the ring for an extra hour because he refused to be carried out on a stretcher.cintron has no pride.he thought he was winning the fight and bailed out
in the past 20 years i would say him and james toney, oscar should be neck and neck.oscar deserves a win over cheato trinidad and mosley on his resume.toney deserves wins over ruiz an sam peter on his resume.a win over prime tito would trump anything floyd has done.based purely off of skill floyd is 1 of the best to ever lace em up,but based off of skill and resume i would put oscar and james toney ahead of him
At 2:50 on the video below Cintron catches Paul with a solid left and then at 2:53 he wobbles Paul with a big right hand and you clearly see Paul's legs go
So far all weekend all i was reading was that Paul was turning it up and and Cintron bailed out. In the video it clearly shows who had the advantage in the exchange. I don't see one moment where Paul did anything that would make Cintron think about quitting .
PS. i watched the fight wanting to believe all that i read on here but i just dont see it.
if it were any fighter other than clottey, and cintron,i wouldve gave him them the benefit of the doubt.but cintron doesnt deserve that benefit.he cheated martinez out of k.o,folded like an accordian against rito, and he claims he coulve continued with a minute to catch his breath,so why didnt he sit up?judah protested his stoppage to kostya harder than that and he was unconscious
What was so even about fighting Juan Manuel Marquez?
Facts:
Marquez never had a fight above 135 LBS (list all the fight night weights you want, but the fact remains
Floyd refused to come into the weight they originally agreed on
Floyd originally wanted to fight Marquez @ 147 LBS
Floyd keeps talking about how boxing should be an even playing field, but his choices don't reflect that. Sure, you can say that it was Marquez's fault for signing the contract. But then, wouldn't it also be Cotto's fault for agreeing to fight Pacquiao? But thats besides the point, thats not what this thread is about.
How was Marquez/Mayweather fougth on an "even playing field"?
the hell kinda stupid thread is lol.marquez chose to fight at that weight.do you think that marquez wouldve agreed to fight floyd if floyd insited he be able to use steroids lol.and even playing field is 2 fighters, fighting drug free.duran started at 130 and beat guys up to 175.hearns started at 147 and won the lhw title.im sure marquez would rather make the extra mil than have floyd come in at 144
That's why our Heavyweight Division is so skilled, athletic and healthy compared to the 60s - 70s, I mean come on compare Arreola to any of them, he's just so far superior :boxing:.
If anything this era is the weakest in most weights apart from Welter when compared to previous eras.
i guess youve never seen 2 ton tony gallento
When he was 16-17 years old. Did Levine ever weigh less than 159-160 after his 21st birthday? Chris Byrd actually fought at light welterweight when he was 20 years old but he obviously got bigger since then.
dude retired at 24 lol.i guess he was on the manny diet.
on a side note do you know of any foster fights where you could hear his in ring talk.he looked often to be talking shit of roger mayweather proportions
Some people have been saying SRR, SRL, Hearns, Oldtime Welterweight X, etc. would beat Floyd because they are too big. I don't think that type of reasoning is valid because size does not win fights except for heavyweights, and even for them there are other factors that are more important (which is why 217 lb David Haye was able to beat 316 lb Nikolay Valuev). Aside from heavyweights, everyone else has a weight limit they have to be under which means that boxers with a naturally heavier build will either have to lose muscle mass or dehydrate themselves to make weight. Both approaches have some major disadvantages, which might explain why two of the smallest boxers in the WW division are currently dominating everyone who tries to fight against them. Besides, SRR was at his best in his youth when he weighed around 144 rather than later on when he weighed around 160.
Secondly, for those predicting an early KO: almost half of SRR's fights ended in decisions. Expecting him to KO someone who has great defense and has never been close to being knocked out is a little unreasonable. A fight between SRR and Floyd Mayweather is almost certain to go the distance. SRR is the GOAT and I think I would favor him to win but it should be a very competitive fight.
problem is alot of these guys dont know what big means.ray rob was tall but far from big.he had a thin frame.they also have a poor understanding of rays power.he was a volume puncher from everything ive seen.he was murederous at welter cause majority of guys he fought didnt deserve to be in a boxing ring.majority of his fights were physical mismatches due to height.
Wonder what you think about this. When I watch footage of Gvailan he looks just like Shane Mosley. Or am I tripping?
wrong guy.gavilan was about 5'11 with a ****ed up haircut
