At 2:50 on the video below Cintron catches Paul with a solid left and then at 2:53 he wobbles Paul with a big right hand and you clearly see Paul's legs go
So far all weekend all i was reading was that Paul was turning it up and and Cintron bailed out. In the video it clearly shows who had the advantage in the exchange. I don't see one moment where Paul did anything that would make Cintron think about quitting .
PS. i watched the fight wanting to believe all that i read on here but i just dont see it.
The doctor, Paul Wallace, is now defending himself. According to Wallace, Cintron was asked twice if he was able to continue and both times he replied "no." Wallace said he would have allowed the fight to restart if Cintron had indicated that he was capable of continuing.
"I did say I wanted the fight stopped because the fighter twice said he could not continue He was asked, 'Can you continue?' and he said 'no.' Twice. If he had mentioned to me something like, 'Give me a moment ... ,' I understand; these are warriors. Any hint that he still wanted to participate we would've given that to him. We would have got him up and given him a second evaluation," Wallace told The LA Times.
Once Wallace called the fight, he claims Cintron changed his mind and wanted the fight to continue.

Well there you have it. I could have sworn I heard/saw something else, but oh well.
The Doc does not agree, and has stated so...
A rematch has to happen.
nice find burner.... lmao!! :haha: well I guess that answers all our questions... Cintron really did think that this was a deathmatch and said fuk this Im outta here!
what did you expect the DR not defend his stoppage decision? Is he lying probably no but regardless If Cintron had the air knocked out of him and for those who watched the fight had a physician very quickly asking him if he can continue, he says no what should have happened was for him to be told "you have 5 minutes to recover than the fight is over, not calling the fight immediately. Ive seen enough of these to know that most boxers will take close to the full 5 and then end up jumping back in. This issue is retarded and proves only that Kermit Cintron was outboxing Paul Williams. Unfortunately for the Williams band wagon it also probably indicates that guys like Mayweather and many of the elite welters would likely beat or at the very least not be the underdogs that so many believe on here. I likel Williams attitude and style but the dude is what he is.
Paul to his credit did not go down but recovered well and fast. My point is who is bringing the heat in that exchange?
good luck filtering through all the idiots.... Cintron was outboxing Williams who didnt help himself fighting with a crappy strategy. Once he turned it on we saw each guy land a decent punch and then Cintron land the first punch Ive ever seen actually jello Williams legs. Even when Martinez sent Williams to the canvas it was more of a flash KD. I rewatched the fight and had Cintron up a round after 3 and from looking at the fourth if Williams kept getting tagged like he was the fight was gonna end early. This is a bit early to start this discussion but its well known that Williams has taken a lot of punishment to maintain his status as the Punisher. Are we seeing the first fissures in his chin and come forward mentality?

damn!!!
I should have seen your post before i posted mine
Agree 100%
Also, I had to go back and look at the fight again to hear the doctor (me and my pops watch all teh fights with no sound), and Cintron was telling him he could continue (before the stretcher). I just really wish he would have got up. That is the only fault I put on Cintron.
Exactly!
Why are people that are calling cintron a bitch keep ignoring the fact that the doctor told him to stay down and they stop the fight before he was given 5 minutes to recover.
The truth is most people had cintron up but regardless it would have been unfair in my opinion to reward him the victory; very unfair to paul when it wasnt his fault kermit fell out the ring. the fight should have been called a no contest

lets be honest here guys, all the folks that are defending cintron. there is definitely no signs that cintron even wanted to or even entertained the idea of getting back into the ring.
i didnt see once ounce of effort from cintron making a case to have the fight continue. and i don't care what cintron says because his actions tell it all.
you'd have to think, what other fighters out there would've done the same as cintron in not protesting, not getting up on his own two feet and look to get back into the ring, look to get 5 mins, look to have the doc take a look at him in the ring instead of on the floor, where it was a slower roll/fall to the floor, not like he fell from the ring to the ground in one big fall to the floor.
would barrera lay there? morales? aaron pryor? mosley? mayweather?
even though i hate the fight with a passion, but, nigel benn got KNOCKED OUT THE RING big time against mcclellan and he got back in and fought, the outcome was severely tragic, but non the less got back in the ring to fight.
i can see if cintron fell all the way to the floor and landed flat on his back or head first, but he bumped the side and back of his head, barely, after he already bailed out and put his hand down that caught the most of his weight in that spill. total bullshit.
like i said, there was nothing, absolutely nothing in cintrons demeanor that he wanted to continue once he hopped through the ropes...........
now the decision, that is questionable, but as far as i see it, cintron quit.
Oh and the doctor on site kept him from re-entering the ring. You can see it as clear as day that he was immediately immobolized by the on-site medical professionals.
There was no motive for Cintron to just dive out of the damn ring; it was clearly Williams fault IMHO.
Fire a straight left hand then shoot in for a clinch ~ GSP.
Clear as day, I don't know how anyone sees anything else
Agree 100%

That was some GSP/UFC shit from Paul Williams!!!
Sorry but thats not what i saw so it doesnt make sense...You dont jump out of a ring on purpose after you just landed hard shots that had the other guy hurt and stunned..On top of that PW was being outboxed seconds before the incident occured...Why would Cintron on a whim leap out when he had the upper hand?
I don''t know what fight the rest of you were watching but I saw a pretty boring fight up until the 4th round. Cintron was never in ANY TROUBLE AT ALL.
HBO has the most $$$ and every pro boxer knows that. Why would Cintron jeopardize his present and future paydays by diving out of the damn ring? :pat: Does Cintron not have a family? According to Jim Lampley his kids names were written on the front of his boxing trunks.
Look, I saw Paul Williams throw a straight left to the head then IMMEDIATELY shoot in for a clinch/takedown ala George St. Pierre. Cintron was like WTF as he tried to gather himself but he couldn't avoid Willliams big ass feet.
Who would risk his health and his $$$ in a HBO main event in which they were clearly competive by diving head first out of the ring; with your whole family watching?
One judge gave Cintron every damn round even.
Ok that was funny thanks for bring in some comedy lol.
i would like to see a rematch for sure... pwill even said after the fight that the gameplan was to start slow and break him down mentally because he knew contron was gonna try and take him out with that one shot in the beginning....
After seeing what everyone here has said... whether he jumped out or actually did fall out... he shouldn't of laid there like a drama-queen over getting the wind knocked out of him... the fall wasn't that frickin bad and he is in the best shape of his life... you're telling me he couldnt of gotten up? to me I think he threw the fight because he thought he was up on the cards... whether he was or he wasnt? he deserves the loss for being such a pus-c... sorry paul doesnt deserve an L because Kermita is a sissy girl..
I have had my fill with this debate, and just have one last thing to add...
Over the last couple of days, I have learned one thing from this site, and the fans that post on it.
No one, and I mean no one! Has ever tripped, or lost their balance, do to a tangle up no less, and had their momentum carry them over...I bet if someone filmed you doing that in slow motion, you would also appear to be leaping at some point in that footage...
I know Cintron is a bitch, but that is no reason to discredit what went down on saturday.
Lastly:
Like I said the other day, you will no longer be taken serious using the term "Paul was turning up the heat"...Sure! Then he took two to the chin for his trouble...How is that for "heat"!!! Please end this myth...
Why don't some of you cats put some blame on Paul's corner for having him "box" the first few rounds...It wasn't working, and he looked like crap. No one saw that though.
I don't feel bad for Cintron, cause I thought he could continue, but the view some of you have on what went down leading up to the "leap", is baffling...
Thanks for a honest take on this fight , that is a possibility i can not deny.
Thanks RasJudah! Lets me also point out something I just thought about.
Do you Remember when Hopkins dislocated his shoulder and continued to fight?
Do you remember when Arthur Abraham got his jaw broken against Miranda and begged the judge to let the fight continue?
Do you remember when Cotto (against Judah I believe) Upper lip was busted out and it looked like some serious damage occurred.
But Cotto didn't want to stop the fight even if you put a gun to his head.
There are so many more examples!
Cintron would not have continued even if he landed on a PILLOWTOP mattress with the dallas cheerleaders there to catch him!
The dude is straight bi*ch made!
EVEN MANUAL STEWARD IN THE TELECAST FOR THE FIGHT CALLED HIM SOFT!
The fact that Cintron (whether he LEAPED out or not, even though he clearly did). When he lightly fell on a table and landed safety on the floor (as patrons were holding him from crashing).
CINTRON LITERALLY LAID ON THE FLOOR LIKE HE WAS SHOT WITH A 50 CAL RIFLE. The guy looked DEAD.
He clearly did not want the fight to continue!
The funny part is watch the tape as Cintron is falling, he grabs the back of his head as if he just got hit with a 4x4. But the tape clearly shows nothing hit the back of his head.
Then as the Doctor is looking at him Cintron is motioning towards his lower back. The PAIN MAGICALLY TRANSFERRED from his head to his back.
And then AS SOON AS the doc declared the fight. CINTRON cries "DONT STOP THE FIGHT!"
LOL yeah right!
Ok lets end this debate.... this is what really happened
Sergio sitting ringside stands up when paul turns on the gas.
Kermit, oh shit Paul is gonna tag in Martinez! Im gettin the fukk outta here!!
Ok that was funny thanks for bring in some comedy lol.
Hey RasJudah I am glad you're at least objective.
My point is all you have to do is LOOK DIRECTLY at Cintron's leg. You can tell if a person plants their feet and jumps. Or if they were off balanced and fell backwards.
A person who falls, legs doesn't making a springing motion. IF it DOES as in CINTRON's case. Its clearly a jump (or more accurately a leap)
Now let me answer your question.
First Cintron would throw the fight ESPECIALLY if he was winning.
Second as I said before punks like Cintron really DO NOT LIKE TO FIGHT. He only likes to hit, so when someone hits him or pressures him back. He is a straight bi*ch!
I'm going to be honest, there have been times I have fought someone in the street (and I may have thought the guy could knock me out). But at that time I'm winning the fight. I'm eating him up! I'm clearly winning!
BUT! at the same time I'm PRAYING PRAYING that someone would JUMP in and stop it!
WHY? Because at that point even though I was winning I was scared of losing and/or scared of getting knocked out.
So I'd rather the fight stop a minute in, while I'm still winning. And forever be declared the victor!
It similar in this case. Yes Cintron was likely winning. BUT again the 1st chance he got or couldv'e gotten to get out of the fight. HE WOULD!
Especially if it meant he would get the victory AND the payday!
Thanks for a honest take on this fight , that is a possibility i can not deny.
