Dont go crazy at me because Im not the one who said it. I was listening to a radio show yesterday and I heard a very well respected boxing journalist say this. I was shocked because Ive never heard a journalist go this far before and infact, most of them say that the older guys would kill Floyd.
He said though that he thinks Floyd beats everyone around his weight in the last 30 years and he said the only one who he would even give a chance to is a prime SRL. He was at the Floyd-Mosley fight last week. He said he's going to say this right now and he dont care what outlets hear him. He said that Floyd is the best in the last 30 years. He actually said names. He said that people talk about Sweet Pea as being one of the masters but Mayweather not only wins but dominates Sweet Pea. He said Floyd is too quick for Hearns & Duran.
I personally think people boost the past up too much while dissing the current guys but I havent really thought about Floyd vs all those guys I just named until now. People use to diss Floyd and say he's not them and my response would be that its not fair to Floyd to compare them since you are clearly doing it at WW and it was Hearns & SRL's 1st weight class and they were huge while its Floyd's 4th and he is a very small WW. I said that if you want to compare them then you should do it in a P4P sense. Compare them at WW to Floyd at SFW and I think he easily holds his own.
I said that if you want to compare them at WW then you have to weight to see if Floyd grows into the weight. It became clear that he never would so I wouldnt compare him to the ATGs there but now he has grown into the weight nicely. He's not big like Hearns & SRL but now I think its fair to compare him in some regards. I use to say the same at WW even in regards to Floyd vs Shane, Oscar, & Forrest. I use to think that they may be too big for him but now I would pick this Floyd over all of them in there prime. Its still not 100% the same because they were nice size guys & young. Floyd has grown into this weight but now he's 33 so he doesnt have that prime quickness & movement. He's not like a SFW Floyd at WW. Pac is basically the same guy at every weight. Floyd clearly hasnt been at WW but he's finally coming around now.
I did think it was fair to compare like Floyd at 140 to Sweet Pea and maybe Floyd at LW to Duran. I dont think Floyd really reached his prime until the N'Dou fight but then I think he stalled or went back some when he got to WW and only came into the ring at like 146. Now he's picking up steam again and I think you can start comparing. P4P wise I would put him up with any of those guys in the past. At WW against SRL & Hearns? Thats tough. I have always thought he matches up well with Pea. There are alot of people who say they think Pea is better but Floyd will beat him. Another guy on that same show said that and I think Max use to say soemthing similar.
Another guy on this radio show also agreed that the only guy who could beat Floyd is SRL. I also want to make it clear that he said Floyd was to quick for Duran at "WW". They also later talked about Floyd-Pac but I had to do something and couldnt pick up there thoughts
DOnt think so it is Pac. PBF is not good when he fights great athletes who have good legs.
Clealry I am not a Mayweather lover, but this is the dumbest post thus far. How is it a man 41-0, only one really close challenge Castillo, whom he beat easily in the rematch is no good when he fights any type of style. Maybe some cause him more issues than others, but this is flat out ignorant.

Floyd is one of the smartest that's for sure.
style-wise too. but i wouldn't say he's the best, there would be 3-5 fighters who can beat him, or would probably beat him inside the last 30 years.
ummm..... his name is on the sig.
thats what I was thinking and I keep looking like is that him? Im like maybe but then Im like NO. However, I started to think it was him because I was listening to the radio the other day and they were talking about some Kobe pics and I think I saw something on the net about it but I thought they meant he looked Gay in the pics when they were saying that you wouldnt believe it.
IDK, the shit looks weird to me. Not only because of how he's dressing & acting but it almost doesnt even look like him. He looks black than a mothafukka. I also thought no one would take a pick like the Biggie one because it may be a little disrespectful. Is there a story behind the pics or was it an alter ego shoot or what?
Kids these day, lol. Comparing Floyd to fighters that took on all challenges and fought the best to prove they were the best.
Watching a few 24-7's is not a way to access greatness. If some of these kids watched boxing 20-30 years ago they might realize Floyd has been constantly carefull in the selection of opponents. I have been watching since the 70's and as much as many of the younger fans hate hearing it, Floyd is not the best of the last 7 years, he shouldn't even be compared to the best of the last 20-30 years!
Do this in the history section and your heart would be broken.
This is the last time I bump it but incase you missed it and want to hear it, this is the audio that I just made the thread about. They start talking about the fight at the 20min mark and the head guy comes on at the 28min mark who was at the fight and says Floyd is the best. BPP can just delete this if he wants

He based it on fantasy fights. Floyd wins vs. any other fighter in the last 30 years. Mayweather is King of fantasy fights. Accomplishments...................that's another story.
LoL, that's actually very true. While Fraud wins all the fantasy fights. Pacquiao wins all the real fights, lol. :lol1:
Last 30 years, definitely. He's better than Leonard, Hagler, Hearns, Duran and Whitaker, so who does that leave? Lewis? He's better than Lewis. Holyfield? He's better than Holyfield.
And if Pacquiao hadn't refused testing and brought suspicion on himself, I'd say Pacquiao is directly behind Floyd. But now I won't say that because I truly don't think Manny's accomplishments are legit.
Fuego your own here slamming roy for his resume,,,but you have not answered mine. You saying floyd is better than leonard because of what. he is undefeated. How stupid is that. Rocky marciano was undefeated. Hell Hatton was undefeated at 40-0 until he faced a better fighter. Being undefreated only meants you beat everyone WHO YOU FACED, Has not bearing on the quality.
Generally the best shows the ability to beat all comers, all styles, other peak greats. Since your saying he his greater Leonard, then please help me understand who has he beaten that is on par with Duran, Hearns, Hagler. Who. All of these fighrters when Ray beat them was 32 years or less, on huge winning streaks, and outside of Hagler went on to win titles at higher classes.
Tell me how Mayweather stacks up...And I have not even mentioned Benetiz, kalule, Lalonde.. etc.
nah.. please..
ROY JONES and whitaker are the best of the last 30 IMO..
Roy Jones' resume is not on Floyd's level. If you think so, you're a damn fool. Roy may have been the better talent, but he didn't prove it by wiping out nearly as many divisions as he should have. He stays at 168, he's the best 168lber ever. He finishes off Calzaghe, DM, Benn, Collins...shit man, he would have been the best of the last 30 years. Too much unfinished business for a guy who started at 160 and barely stayed there a minute.

He is not even in the same conversation with Leonard. Can you point out who he has beaten that was prime and on the same level as a Duran, hearns, hagler? Please help me understand.

All the boxing greats have loses, most of them way before they made it 41 fights. Floyd is the best boxer in the last 100 years.
Stupid post. All the greats fought better fighters too. Can you imagine prime leoanrd fighting instead of duran, hearns, Hagler, benetiz, fighting 36 year old dlh, 38 year old Mosley, Hatton, Jmm....
You tell me who at welter weight was better, stronger, beat better opponents, faster, better closer.....etc. People pick mosley and have no idea how great Peak leonard was.
And for the crack heads that even dream that Mayweather could beat Hearns. Are you freaking nuts. 1st off mayweather will not even fight Williams (a poor mans hearns with out a punch). Mayweather would have to deal with the reach, jab, right hand and left hook... Bad Bad Match up, to beat hearns mayweather would have to ko him, and that would not happen, by lionel richie fisted Mayweather.
PACTARDS did the same thing after Pacquiao beat Cotto.
"Pacquiao's name can be mentioned in the same breath as SRL, SRR, ALI"
Do you remember those threads?
Who ever thinks or is convinced that Manny is "The Greatest" of all time or even the greatest in 30 yrs, is just as delusional as the Flomos that thinks the same of Gayweather. But there is no question IMO that Manny is the greatest of his time, right now, period. But i will concede that if Floyd beats Manny, Floyd would automatically take that spot, no question about it.
