What the hell are you all basing this on if you don't have anything to base your claims on other than, "I just read this in an article" type inuendos. I could come right back on here and write, "oh shit...I just read that Shane is refusing to take a blood test". Support what you say. If you cannot then stop talking about what floyd won't due.
I will be the first to say he is wrong if he doesn't take this fight but the foolishness of saying that "It's not about the article" is absurd. The supposed "article" is what this whole thread is about. and if you can't post it, it just makes you sound like a hater who is making up stuff.
I don't see anyone in his division who can eclipse him at this point. Would love to see JC challenge him if he wins against RJJ but I don't want to see Rjj fight him at all. I think that Chad has star talent but not star personality. How can he put together a big name rep for himself to make his fights more star attracting events. he is such a humble and regular guy. Gonna me hard to market him in this sport.
I thought Roy just looked ok against tito. I thought tito looked flat enough to retire for the last time. I think that in order for Roy to win this fight that he has to drop his fearof geting hit and let his hands go. I think that if he were to do that he could get Joe out of there within 8. However, I think it all depends on whether or not Roy feels like joe can hurt him. And further more if Joe Can indeed hurt him then that should be Roy's final cue to hang it up. NO disrespect meant to Joe but he is a volume punishment guy. not someone who hurts you with big punches.
She started well with her opening statement but since then she has ducked out on several questions and she seems to flub her words on numerous ocasions. she just cant seem to express herself with confidence because she just does not feel comfortable with her knowledge base. shorty has 5 talking points and she keeps trying to bring the debate back to those points.
You know what?! I think that most real american boxing fans respect joe as a great figter just not an all-time great. To me I see a lot of people who are just upset that he is making a name for himself by beating guys that are way past there prime and that are much higher than he on the ATG list. I hate to see Joe's people make a case for him being better all-time than Roy or Bernard. and let's be clear..Joe didnt want any parts of that ass-whipping 5 years ago. And it is not like he could not have come over to make that fight. 5 years ago he was screaming that he is a champion and why should he have to come to america which sounds foolish to even speak of given all that we know about hierarchy and drawing power of making big fights.
But still..Joe is a great fighter. I thought that Roy was actually a little faster that him in the fight which gives you some idea of what a fight with them would have been like in 2000, but roy just look too timid to put together combos and looked like his power was all gone. I am actually upset with Roy for taking the fight becaseu he had to know that with the way he fought that he couldnt win. Which I can only conclude from that, that the whole fight was about the money.
I have to agree...Every culture can speak to the personal pride that they have flowing through there blood. To make that basic of a statement to say that his national Pride is what will not allow him to bow down is not going to resonate with many people.
I think Berto is talented but he gets hit way too much to beat any of the elite guys. He needs to really tighten up on his defensive consistency. a cople of rounds he looks solid but then he will allow himself to get peppered.
I thought that Dibella's rationale for not putting Berto in with him was brutally honest butsince when has that become acceptable. Saying that PW is to big to be fighting in that weight class is pretty lame to me. You fight at the weight that you are able to make and confidently compete at. No one tells Shaq you are too big to play in this league. again I really respect his honesty but he just in so many words told me that he is better than Berto and that he clearly feels like his size is a defeiciency. to tell paul that he should go to 154 sounds really lame.
I think that a lot of people flat out just believe that Pac will take it to Cotto and just be to fast for him. I think it really depends on wheter or not Pac can really hurt Cotto. He seemed to me to be still suffering from the shock of that bad Margarito beating. Liek it took a bit out of him. I hate that too because there is no way that I can believe that he was not dealing with stuffed gloves.
But on top of that HBO knows that the Pac fight will be more lucrative so they are trying to speak it into existence. Hopping for what will be the best fight busines wise.
Margarito made little sense with some of his comments. I wish the guy had asked him how he feels about Mayweather now since he was talking about business decisions.
I would not pay for it again. I dont think floyd can get a decision in vegas against Oscar again. i think he can beat him again but that doesnt mean he isnt willing to risk that for 30 million
All thos guys are jacks of all trades but masters of none! No mma fighter could stand in with someone who concentrates on one discipline and maters it. Cant box with a boxer, cant kickbox with a kickboxer or wrestle with a wrestler. NOw no doubt they can combine all those skills and dominate in some situatiions but that is a little different
I honestly believe that the main reason that we talk about a lot of these other cats is because they never fought roy and thus were never exposed for not being on his level. If he had blown away the likes of Steve Collins, Gerald Mcclellan, Nigel Benn etc.. we would just be talking about them as being guys who never were in his class the same way we talk about telesco, Kelly and Frazier to a degree. Part of what makes those guys note worthy is that they never got that ass whipped by Roy.
Griffin was always a really good and underrated fighter to me. I think Roy does not get enough credit for beating him the way he did. And honestly I thought at light Heavy telesco was a tough pros[ect before some personal issues sort of held him back. but once again people crapped over these guys for the way Roy beat them with such ease.
Margarito kills me feeling like he really won that Paul Williams fight based on the fact that Paul looked a little more worse for wear when it was done. If paul packed any sort of punch Margarito would have been out. He was getting peppered in some stretches.
addison I agree with you 100 percent! I have long said the same thing to other people about Zab. He gets rattled in his corner when his father starts going off with his instructions. how can a fighter maintain focus when his corner man is foaming at the mouth between bells.
Hell yeah he is serious! hahaha. Sergio was never nice anyway. He backed out of the biggest fight oppurtunity thathe was ever gonna get. Do your thing sergio. Cant blame him for taking an avenue to get paid without getting his head bashed in.
I think that a lot of people are expesed to Boxing when they get into the military becaseu they have the intramural programs but by then it is pretty late for most of them to develo into top notch guys.
