Thats what one of my uncles was telling me. He was saying that Mosley was just as fast as Mayweather with possibly more power. Has about the same physically ability as far as movement. He could pot shot and back off just like Floyd, he just doesn't because he takes risks. But he thinks that if Floyd and Shane ever fought, Floyd would win. According to him, that would be the most cautious fight he would ever fight. He wouldn't want to look bad so he would do whatever it would take for Mosley not to reach him. But if both were to be compared, the difference is that Shane doesn't take the safe route. Any thoughts?
some of you guys are forgetting that mosley's trouble has been with real technical boxers.
hard to tell, but they are both probably equal in hand speed. i don't think floyd is necessarily smarter, just more defense minded and cautious. i think floyd would win a decion, possibly ud.
both in their primes at 135, though, is another story. mosley was the best lightweight i've ever seen (of my lifetime. not the best lw ever, but definitely up towards the top.) dude was a phenom.
I'd bet everything I own that Floyd would get a wide decision over Mosley if they ever fight. Mosley is not nearly as fast as he once was, he's stiff, has a shitty jab and a giant head. He's basically a conventional version of Zab Judah style-wise. He paws with his jab looking to land the straight right (left for Judah); fast hands but unimpressive footwork and less than stellar defense. He may be able to overcome Cotto, but Floyd would school him.
Go ahead with the name-calling, but be ready to put your money where your mouth is if this ever goes down.
Mayweather and risk don't go together in the same sentence..
135-140 Prime Mosley beats him no doubt..
the 36 year old has a great chance
And who said Floyd's prime is at 147???
Floyd's prime was at 130 where he was fast and more explosive and had more punching power.
Now because he is fighting bigger and stronger opponents he has been more defensive. But that's what keeps him winning. Corrales was a monsterous puncher at 130 and 135 but once he moved up to 147 he was doomed. He was all power and no dimensions. Castillo same thing.....looked weak against Hatton and he has more punching power then Floyd.
mosley hits harder, is stronger, and more aggressive.
floyd is a tad quicker, maybe not with hands, but all-around, smarter, and better defensively.
their styles are not really similar.
Although floyd is a very smart fighter, i won't automatically assume that he is smarter than shane by leaps and bounds. Mosley's losses and toughest fights, for the most part, have been against exceptionally techically proficient boxers.
With the exception of his fight with an aging and part time fighter, in De la hoya, floyd has yet to fight an opponent with the boxing abiltiy and size of a winky wright forrest etc. Most of Floyd's top opponents and wins have come against, the castillo and corrales (RIP) types; brawlers. Not exceptionally quick or defensive minded. Their styles complemented floyd's strengths (well somewhat). If Floyd were to fight the same forrest and wright mosley fought, he most likely would suffer the same fate as shane. Put winky in there instead of Castillo, and Floyd gets beaten decisively.

Exactly
I kind of agree, but Floyd is a much more better defensive fighter- which probably makes him a better fighter, although not as entertaining. Floyd would be the complete package if he had a killer instinct. Mosley likes to get in there and exchange. When he gets hit, he likes to hit back right away.

Valid synopsis of Mosley
I have to disagree with this statement. , Mosley will definitely find him
