If he just so happened to beat a Calzaghe, how much does his career get boosted? It would be the biggest win of his career since Ruiz, but probably a better win for him than a Ruiz. He said he would move down to 168 (they would most likely fight at a catch weight), but heck I wouldn't be surprised if he moved all the way down to 168 to go for the linear title again.
Joe is undefeated, linear champ and showed he isn't slipping and is still in his prime.
are you saying that roy jones jr isnt a lock for the hall of fame.
who cares what he does at 36 years of age?
he beat toney so bad in his PRIME, that the dude didnt even ask for a rematch all he did was make excusses.
and hopkins who he also beat in his PRIME, is what 42 years old and are you telling us that jones doesnt beat hopkins right now?
thats crazy my friend you must be one hell of a dreamer!
thats not really true Toney has said over and over he wanted a rematch, but Toney weight was going up so fast they never had a chance untill it was 2late

Basically, to save his career Roy would need to beat Calzaghe, Tarver, Johnson, Hopkins or Toney again, and win a heavyweight belt against a real champ. 2 or 3 of those would save him I think.
If Jones would beat Joe he still would not be on top. He would probably have to beat at least Glen cuz he sure can't beat Tarver.
It's not about being on top of some p4p list, it's just about raising Roy up after his recent losses.
Why would Roy do better against Glen than Tarver, when Glen clearly destroyed Roy way worse then Tarver ever did.
Finally, there's no way in hell beating Joe is better than beating Ruiz. uiz beat Holyfield, Rahman, Golota, robbed vs that Russian giant Valuev...Ruiz was clearly as successful as any other recent champ aside from Lewis. Joe's resume doesn't come anywhere close to Ruiz's, so saying beating Joe is better tan beating Ruiz is not logical.
But, beating Joe would be big for Roy at THIS point in Roy's career, when Roy is clearly not what he used to be. This fight shouldn't be happening anyway. If it does, that'd be a crime.
By continuing to fight, Roy cannot boost his career.
All that continuing to fight will do for Roy, is damage his brain.
and fattening up his wallet. dont forget about that1 :)
