An in shape Usyk in the rematch would make sense, but that said Rico could also improve and still be a threat. at times i thought Usyk may get chinned from a few of those flying Rico punches.
Draw or 7-5 for Inoue.
Nakatani is a beast.
What i loved about this fight was Nakatani had youth, size (lengthy) and southpaw on his side... and Inoue was just a bit better but very cagey first half of fight. I'm more impressed with Nakatani now.. he the future..don't care about him having an L on his record.
Wow... he never gave up.. .. could the ref have given Matias a chance to continue?
I loved how Dalton Smith pretty much resorted to plan B (have to go all out and throw kitchen sink) from round 3 onwards... and it eventually worked. . Cracker
Disagree.
He went in there with one objective only: survival via run and tackle (which was obviously planned and well trained)
The moment he got hurt, he quit. Yes, he quit .. that is what you would have said about any other opponent had they done that.
So overall he was after huge $$$ and survival.
Of course not.
All of his step ups he lost. His best wins are losses as well lol.
Then his legitimate best wins are well timed against washed ups and C grade Brits.
Do you think AJ is silly enough to take out Jake Paul in the first round (and make all of the bookies happy)? No!
He'll carry him for first 4 rounds and then take it serious. AJ needs some rounds under his belt as well. So he will have a good narrative.
Have to go with Calzaghe...just brings too many options to the table...GGG would have his moments but I'd see this fight panning out like Martinez vs JCC Junior...
lol that is funny..but i don't believe lampley should have to change his wording just because a homosexual may have reason to think untoward.
it was a taste of his head and as long as lampley wasn't intentionally making derogatory comments then all is good!!
Geale is the closest thing to Martinez...highly skilled mover (not southpaw though)....so if Martinez does fight on, this will be a good yardstick for where GGG is really at! Bring it on!
Sorry i don't understand those odds... Can somebody please translate them into decimal odds.. Eg $1.50 (which means you get $1.50 for your one dollar).
i watched it again and i can only confidently give 2 rounds max, 3 being generous.
rigo being inactive still had donaire being inneffective and inactive as well, so those rounds which may have been inactive, Rigo still wins on pure ring generalship ( which is one of the main scoring criteria).
i laugh at the fact that they call them 'translators'....he is an 'interpreter'.....a translator does documentation/text whereas somebody on the spot doing oral is an interpreter.
Funny that someone here mentioned Clottey...as that is what I was thinking during the fight...I was really expecting Agbeko to make Rigo work for the win, but I think Agbeko got tagged a few times hard in the 1st and 2nd rounds and that was it....every round there on was basically the same.
It's sad for Rigo as he really is one of the greatest fights in a LONG time, but he doesn't have any challengers out there. Due to his body size it wouldn't be favourable moving up, so he'll have to make a decision soon.
It was a farce, but let's face it, the score cards which have been revealed also point to how farcical the fight officiating was.
There is no way on earth that at that point, Groves was only up by one point on two cards....so yeah, even though I love Froch (and thats why I watched this fight), I feel very very sorry for Groves.
As far as the stoppage goes, well, it's probably the worst one I've ever seen...and I don't believe he was going to be knocked down...he was stunned, but he was fighting back and also moving....so I don't even think he was going to be knocked down.
should be same day weigh ins, simple as that, or your idea of a limit of eg 5lbs is OK...but professional boxing is all about $$$$$$$ and therefore you won't see that happen anytime soon!
i just thought it was expected that southpaws do better at amateur competitions due to fighters not knowing who they are going to fight and or having like 1-2 days preparation......that said, there seem to be a lot more than normal.
how about the main event with billy dib?...the ref said in a derogatory way to the mexican 'do you understand english' .......when knowingly the fighter did not understand english!
realistically there is no reason why he can't come back, considering that Zab Judah did a chicken dance 10 years ago and is still fighting on B grade cards today, Zab even fought Floyd immediately after getting beat by Baldomir.....and they were defeats where he was just a *****....Khan at least fought with hard and was entertaining.
Therefore just on the above example I believe Khan can still come back....he'd really have to re-structure his game if he wants to stay at the top level....otherwise he could always continue the same way and make some decent dollars in being an entertaining B grade fighter.
the referee called for an 8 count with the signal of 'waving off the fight'...anybody would be forgiven for jumping in the ring after seeing that signal!
Who is the 1 fighter in the world today that you think is the most underrated?
Only 1 not a whole list of them.
For me it has to be:
Chris John 47-0-2, 22KO
17-0 in world title fights
Current WBA World Featherweight Super Champion
has some impressive wins, and even has a win over Juan Manuel Marquez.
He has fought most of his career in Indonesia so he hasn't received much love from fans, but dont you think boxing critics should give him props, he shouldn't have to fight every fight in the USA just to be a top fighter.
lol the reason why i opened this thread was to add my two cents worth and say 'Chris John'.......but you beat me to it :)
fk man where is the logic in his corner...they should have stopped, not make Ortiz look like a ***** by calling the referee himself.....man dunno about this kid, when you gotta quit, try and make it look like you aren't doing it...
lol Jermaine Taylor actually beat a couple top guns, Hopkins, Winky (draw), and very nearly beat Froch, etc..these are all A grade fighters..
Khan has beaten who?..at best B grade fighters!!..and also lost to Prescott and Peterson, who are also B grade fighters..
I still see Khan as a glorified amateur, another British hype job who they are trying to hype up like Hatton..
