Out of those Hopkins/Trinidad. 2001 had some good fights that were better than any of those. For example Micky Ward/Emmanuel Agustus-Burton and Paulie Ayala/Bones Adams.
I'm calling it now, if Mayweather doesn't prepare for that hook then he will be hurt and hurt alot. The only times Mayweather has been stunned were from hooks from southpaws. Corley stunned him and Judah almost put him down with a right hook.
Judah has shown that a fighter who can match Mayweather's speed can land punches even with Mayweather's defense. Judah gave Mayweather all he could handle before crawling into his shell like he always does. Pacquiao can match Mayweather's speed and he will be there for 12 rounds.
I believe this is one fight where Mayweather is gonna have to come out of that defensive position and use offense to defend himself. Judah's handspeed gave Mayweather trouble early. Hatton's foot speed gave Mayweather problems early. Pacquiao has hand and foot speed and is levels above Judah and Hatton. I always pick Mayweather to win but this time I'm picking Mayweather to lose.
i think the guys who beat DLH and deserve major credit are pbf and sugar shane. shane defeated a prime DLH, a fighter who if he was around today would probably clean up the WW and LMW division. pbf a tthe time was still a natural LWW, was fighting 2 weight divisions above his natural weight class, against DLh who at the time was a top 10 p4p and he was fighting on DLH's terms - you have to give lil' floyd major props.
Delahoya was not even in p4p discussions when he fought Mayweather. I give credit to Mayweather for moving up and fighting Delahoya but beating Delahoya was no longer a huge accomplishment anymore by the time Mayweather stepped in the ring with him. It was a guaranteed victory and the biggest payday for Mayweather at the time.
Mayweather beats Pacquiao at 130, 135, 140 and 147.
It would probably end in a KO as well because I believe Pacquiao will have to resort to recklessly rushing in and getting caught.
Pacquiao is great and has more than proven his worth but Mayweather is still a step or two above him in every category.
Well, he quit only because he was fighting a person his size. Not a ****ing flyweight, read up on that jack ass.
Pacquiao was a flyweight at like 16 years old. Should we say Delahoya is natural lightweight because he started there at 18 years?
Of course Pacquiao beats him at 140 because Cotto would be a walking zombie. The reason Cotto left 140 is because he was killing himself to make weight.
I don't see why Pacquiao wants to fight at a catchweight. He made Delahoya come down to 147 so why not fight Cotto at 147.
Pacquiao is a great fighter but a hittable and vunerable fighter at times. I have seen Pacquiao hurt more times then I have seen Chavez hurt in his prime. Chavez had a super human chin and could walk thru anything thrown at him. Then you throw in the body attack and finally the unrelenting pressure. That pressure is what swallowed his opponents.
I think it would be a great fight but in the end Chavez would break Pacquiao after a war.
Clottey is basically a bigger stronger and hard hitting version of Winky Wright. If Clottey doesn't suffer any injuries I see Mosley in a very tough fight that may see him on the losing end.
Max Kellerman was a bitch during the post-fight interview. He should of allowed Mayweather to speak, he did too much of the talking. Kellerman says he's a Floyd Mayweather fan, but he shouldn't have pissed him off.
Mayweather was avoiding all the questions so I don't blame Kellerman for doing what he did.
The fight was one sided and I don't think Marquez deserved a round. I was quite surprised that two judges found a round to give to Marquez. The commentary was one-sided and in favor of Mayweather because the fight was all Mayweather.
I didn't think the fight was a very great fight but I thought Mayweather putting on a clinic and I was entertained. Then again I can appreciate the boxing skills of Mayweather as much as two fighters standing toe to toe. I believe that Marquez could of pushed the fight more. When he threw the right hand he was able to land but he just didn't pull the trigger which isn't Mayweather's fault. Mayweather fought his fight and Marquez didn't do what he should of done when faced with the situation he was faced with. I know it's easier said than done but I believe Marquez could of sold out more when it was obvious that he was losing the fight big.
Pacquiao is exciting and a great warrior but I don't see him beating Mayweather. Mayweather is still quicker with faster reflexes than Pacquiao.
Even with Pacquiao's quick hands, Mayweather will still counter him all night and aggressive fighters like Pacquiao don't usually finish the fight against Mayweather. I just see Pacquiao getting caught rushing in late in the fight and finishing the fight on his back with the ref waving the fight off.
I honestly don't see Pacquiao surviving Cotto to even get to a Mayweather fight though.
Pacquiao is a great fighter and how can't you be a fan of such a warrior but I think he has bitten off much more than he can chew with Cotto. Plus I believe that the whole Pacquiao camp just like the media and most people are over looking Cotto.
He went to 147, looked good and then after the Margarito fight vs Clottey he looked clearly out of it... bad performance.
We will wait and see I guess, it was only 1 fight but.. didn't look good at all..
No one looks good against Clottey and he fought with a bad cut for most of the fight.
I wouldn't judge how good a fight is against Clottey. He has one of those style that is just difficult to put on a great performance.
Vargas was still using steroids during the first training camp because he was completely ripped before the reschedule so even if he had won the decision would of been a no contest.
There's no way in hell that Marquez is going to get blown away in this fight. Marquez is too highly skilled and intelligent to get destroyed quickly or easily.
Alot of people believe Marquez is too small but I think if Pacquiao can move up in weight without any arguments then Marquez should be able to as well. Marquez is doing the exact same thing Pacquiao is doing. He moved to lightweight and destroyed Casamayor and chose to fight the better Diaz at lightweight and took him apart after going to war in the beginning.
There is no way in hell that Pacquiao would pick Marquez to fight unless there was no other opponents to face. Marquez is the only fighter that Pacquiao can't destroy. Knockdowns have been the only thing that has saved Pacquiao against Marquez.
Pacquiao would easily decision Margarito. I believe that Margarito's chin would hold up against Pacquiao but his face won't. I don't think Pacquiao would stand and front of Margarito enough to KO him like Mosley did. Mosley went right after him. Pacquiao will likely land a couple punches and slip to the side and do it again.
I could see Margarito busted up and walking into a straight left that he doesn't see which could hurt him and set up a stoppage but a straight Hatton type knockout wouldn't happen.
If they want the title on the line then they should fight at the welterweight limit.
I would give Pacquiao credit for a victory over Cotto at 145 but he shouldn't claim himself a title holder at welterweight if the fight is held at a catchweight.
I don't see why they need a catchweight. Cotto never comes in at 147 and Pacquiao will not come in more than 143. Cotto is going to come in at the junior middleweight limit no matter what on fight night. But I won't be surprised if they force a certain weight that Cotto has to be the day of the fight.
Cotto has headlined several ppv cards in the past. Judah, Malignaggi, Mosley, Margarito and a few Top Rank ppv shows when he was an up and coming fighter.
Cotto's name carried most of the promotion for the ppvs he has had and did pretty good numbers. Pacquiao has always had help with the sales of his ppvs with the exception of the Diaz fight which his name carried most of the promotion.
People are lying if they believe that Morales, Barrera, Marquez, Delahoya and Hatton didn't help push ppv numbers.
Outside of the Delahoya fight and Hatton fight, Cotto draws just as much as Pacquiao.
Delahoya is what made the fight go over a million. The same thing happened with Mayweather/Delahoya. In the Hatton fight everyone has to remember Hatton brought alot of fans and support to that promotion which made it sell so much.
What did Pacquiao's fight with Diaz do?
Speed will only play a huge factor if they fight at 143 with Cotto sluggish and slow. At the welterweight limit Cotto has seen the speed and power Pacquiao will bring.
At welterweight Cotto punishes Pacquiao and forces Roach to save his son. At the catchweight Pacquiao beats a drained Cotto and possibly stops him late.
