Any hardest puncher list must include Juilan Jackson. I have never seen more potent one punch knockout power on anyone. His handspeed wasn't the greatest, so it was never surprise punches or the punch you don't see...look at you tube, some of those guys saw it coming and still got knocked out.
I agree, both fighter's stock went up. Ruslan benefitted more because we already knew what Tim brought to the ring, but Tim showed a willingness to fight and made the fight exciting by trading. Ruslan took a lot of good shots in this fight. Although he said they didn't hurt, his trainer who was looking at him, and his face and body said otherwise. Nevertheless, I am excited to see either of them fight again. Thurman vs Ruslan or Maidana or even Aydin would be exciting. The welterweight division is on fire right now
Bradley tried to entertain tonight. If he had boxed all night, his stock would have gone down further. He tried to make a statement, but Ruslan turned out to be better and more powerful than he thought. Nevertheless, I think he gains more fans from this. When the fight is replayed, I think people will appreciate what he did more
when iceman scully stated that chad didnt need to change a thing against ward i nearly swallowed my tongue.
i put part of the blame on scully.
I agree with you 100%. I listened to the interview with Scully and even after seeing the fight Scully continued to say that " Ward doesn't do anything special". I think it confirms that they completely underestimated Ward, and that's what prevented them from making adjustments in the fight. Chad fought the whole fight with his right hand down...and was open for the job/left hook all night. Mayweather would have shut that punch down, but Chad didn't know what to do. However, Chad's defense was impressive at times. He made Ward miss badly sometimes...its was hilarious
Well he's right, Ward doesn't do anything special he just does many things well. No great tool, just a big ass tool box.
Hmmm...I've always thought his inside game was special/standout as well as his defensive footwork, ablity to move in and out. He switches effortlessly between righty and lefty, and he is left handed, with a great left hook. You can see this in all his fights, especially against Froch and Bika. However, maybe his 'perceived' lack of punching power nullifies the impact. But yeah, when everything comes togehter...skill, mind, will...he is a toolbox.
Its true Bryd went down to Light Heavy. One of the things he noted when he fought Shawn George was the speed difference. He couldn't handle the speed after having campaigned at Heavy. I think the same thing affected Dawson. The speed difference between the top guys at SMW and LH is dramatic. Dawson has good speed, but it didn't compare with Wards at all. He got hit with punches he couldn't see or anticipate, and Ward's foot speed was just too much
Physically yes, mentally no. Hopkins had everything to prove while still in his late thirties and he still has that hunger to match up or overtake the legacy of Roy Jones. Mayweather has all the accolades and titles he can ever get. Unless somebody spectacular comes along, he has no motivation to continue into his forties
Unfortunately, Margarito couldn't take Mosley's punches, and he won't be able to take Hearns's. Hearns was taller also had great boxing skills and it would have been hell for Margs to back him into a corner and land like Hagler did.
Interesting how Steve Forbes says that Mayweather hits almost as hard as Pacquaio because of his speed and accuracy

What "secrets" are you referring to? He's certainly not going to be able to contribute to the technical side of things, people are overvaluing the amount of info he has. He's not a trainer like Roach is.
Depends on his compensation. If he is also paid for consultancy, then he'll do it. If not, he'll stick to what he knows and offer up little tidbits now and then. He can share punch sequences, special habits, give info on Manny's mental makeup during training etc...all very strategic info, but at the end of the day...money talks
If he fights Khan this punch would end the fight

Oh my thanks for this giff. I now see how Floyd's elbow got dislocated...
Great Insight
Amazing insight from a great fighter. He described Ortiz's mentality to a T.
The only thing about Roy is that he seems to contradict himself sometimes, but we all do sometimes
Lewis laid the blueprint on how to beat briggs
Lewis discovered early in the fight that he could land the overhand right all night and destroyed Briggs. Vitali just continued from where Lewis left off. He started strong connecting with the right and threw Briggs off balance. Even after all these years Briggs still hasn't learned to defend against this punch.
I think he could dominate in today's division. GGG would be his only threat, but GGG has never fought anybody with a defense like Toney's. Toney was very undisciplined though, and that may have been his downfall in a high stakes match. I would have loved to see how Toney would have handled Hagler or even Hopkins though.
Brook sounds like Khan did before Canelo Ko'd him. Khan was all about his power and how big he will be on the night and yet he looked very small next to Canelo.
GGG has sparred guys like Kovalev and Afolabi and they both said he hits like a heavyweight...especially Afolabi who sparred Kilitchko. GGG is also a very decorated Olympian, and has seen all kinds of styles. Unfortunately, Brook has no chance. This is not Sugar Ray vs Hagler, or even Duran vs Hagler. Brook will be hit and broken down and eventually Ko'd.
Who are they?
I used to have a lot but these days my only vote goes to Ward. I hope Kovalev is that guy.
And before you get mad at me for my choice, just because Ward is so-called humble doesn't mean he doesn't deserve a beating. He's boring and a total diva who doesn't deserve these huge paydays for fighting tuneups and bums. He also talks with a smug demeanor as if he's greater than everyone else.
There are some fighters who are claiming to be pound for pound and unbeaten that I would like to see handle some adversity, possibly take a knockdown but not necessarily a beat down.
Leo Santa Cruz was one, but he got his
Gary Russel was another and he got his
GGG, I would like to see him handle some adversity and take a couple knockdowns
Kovalev, I would like to see him have to box and defend and be aware of fire power coming back. I thought Pascal would do that but it didn't turn out that way
Canelo as well
Chocalito
Terrence Crawford
Of all of them I would like a big drama show to happen to GGG, but he doesn't necessarily have to lose.
Who did they beat that was trained my Manny Stewart? Also Floyd beat a Ronnie Shields guy too.
Well Miguel Cotto and Oscar De Lahoya were trained by Manny at one time or another.
I have seen the punch Kovalev knocked Ward down with replayed many times. It was a short arm punch without much body weight in it. If Kovalev had landed his long, heavy straight right with his weight behind it Ward wouldn't have beat the ten count in my opinion. I am saying Kovalev dropped Ward with a punch that wasn't even close to being his best punch. Kovalev's Sunday punch is a hell of a lot harder that that.
And Kovalev was never able to land his money punch for the remainder of the fight. Which leads me to believe that he won't be able to do it in the rematch. Kovalev can fight, but if you look at his history, he has never had to make adjustments in a fight before since he dominated most of his opponents, even Hopkins. I don't think we will see anything different from him, but whether you think he won or not, Ward was largely able to neutralize Kovalev's right hand with movement and his jab as well.
Let me help u since u left a few out.
PAC also spit on ariza before, I think he slapped a few of the other team members as well. He used to gamble, a known drinker and this boy loves his prostitute. Feel free to add more.
C'mon guys. It's a fight between two very flawed men, both trying to improve their lives. They both endured troubled upbringings; they both dreamed of greatness and with the help of their teams have been able to make it. My sincere hope is that whoever loses this fight will not descend into depression and fall back into their old ways like so many other champions before them (Tyson). After this fight there is nothing for them to do in this era.
Thurman just fought a Berto while Floyd just fought Pac, Maidana and Canelo.
Why is Floyd the only one that is required to take difficult fights?
You guys keep saying that Berto is an easy fight. Berto is not an easy fight. Berto is a good fighter with a decent resume, a top 10 welter in this era. An easy fight for Floyd would have been Paulie or Chris Algeiri or Soto Karass or Lamont Petersen even. Berto will be competitive
Loma was not as fast as Russel early on, but seemed to maintain his speed longer as Russel slowed down later in the fight. Loma's also a better mover. Fastest hands with power = Manny. Best tactical use of speed = Floyd. Raw speed = Khan. Best overall speed of feet and hand - Rigo (against Donaire he was frightening)
True it might take a special fighter to beat him, but I am still a bit concerned about his chin and balance. Hopkins stung him and it showed. Someone like Pascal or Stevenson, who are quick and heavy handed might be able to get past that jab and get lucky early on. However he is still a work in progress and has a great trainer
It was crazy to me how some were even talking about BHOP beating kovalev like he did pavlik.
Kovalev is a scary combination of punching power and skill like I've been saying. It's going to take a special fighter to overcome and beat this monster.
