Could a Prime "Lights Out" Clean Out current 160-175lb's?

Yeah, it's easy to take the best Toney you've ever seen and pick him to beat all kinds of fighters, but he sure as hell wasn't that kind of fighter all the time. "The best Toney you've ever seen" still can't do what these people say he can. What is "the best Toney"? He only ever looked good against sub par fighters. And even against sub par fighters he didn't look good all the time. In fantasy land he knocks out GGG, Kovalev and Stevenson in the same night in 1 round but in real life he loses comfortably to Dave Tiberi and Drake Thazdi, can't get clear decisions over Merqeui Sosa and Sanderline Williams, gets his ears boxed off by Reggie Johnson and loses close hard fought decisions to Montel Griffin.

Well toney fought to the level of competition... And the thread is prime toney... Toney at his best, massacres ggg... No he didn't. Toney was in his prime when Dave Tiberi comfortably beat him. But of course in fantasy land where James Toney "massacres" top level fighters he somehow "massacres" GGG. What did James Toney do in his career to suggest he would do that? Toney was prone to close, hard fights against lesser fighters than Golovkin, Ward, or Kovalev. I don't think it is a certainty that he beats them. He certainly could, though. So who knows? He might blank Golovkin and lose to James DeGale somehow.

Hand Speed isn't important against James Toney?? Are you trolling or what? Where was his defense when Stevens was back him up making him square up? Seriously there's levels to boxing. You're whole argument is that Toney won't perform. That is how thin it is. Maybe a better comparison will be available if GGG moves up. Now you're bringing up amateur fights?? You clearly never watched the Griffin-Toney fights.... He didn't respect Stevens power, just his left hook and he didn't take that many of them. My argument isn't that Toney won't perform. It's just that GGG equals him in power, stamina, and chin. Toney might be faster but GGG has a better jab which will win him the fight.

I don't hate GGG, I hate Hypeboys like you. He's a good fighter, great power, great punch delivery. Slow feet, minimal head movement. Good Jab, knows how to trade punches and believes his will win and because of his power they usually do. Yet to fight anyone special, or with a gameplan but if you feel that makes him world class whatever. I'd actually really like to see him move up and use some of the skills I see him practice in training. Stuff he did in earlier fights off the back foot. GGG reminds me of 140 Cotto...except if Cotto never stepped up in competition from the Randal Bailey's of the world let alone up a weight class. GGG has two things Cotto wishes he had.... stamina and an iron chin.

Nah, too inconsistent to 'clean out' one of those divisions let alone three. He can compete with anyone in a single fight but for someone who is known for being inconsistent I wouldn't back him to dominate a division. Absolute truth. Undeniable truth. Gotta remember what kind of fighter he was. Pure as hell and could work you inside and outside the pocket. He'd destroy GGG. Ward, however, I think is a different beast. He just makes it difficult for anyone to maintain a range. Not saying Ward would win but I'd assume it to be an awkward fight.

What sport do you watch? Hand speed isn't necessary when you have other attributes such as timing and a good jab. It's not that GGG has no defense its that he trusts his chin against certain fighters. Put a guy like Lemieux in front of him and GGG defense improves dramatically. Montell Griffin is just about a notch better than Andre Direll(speed, sneaky reflexes,and good boxing skills) and GGG beat him soundly in the olympics rematch and would take his soul as a pro. Going through the resume honestly If we match him against prime for prime type of opponents here are the guys I think Toney gets beat with and bare in mind I am taking the prime version of Toney that was on good PED's against natural guys... Adonis Stevenson outboxes Andre Ward outclasses him and likely clinches the living **** out of him GGG either batters him for 12 rounds or stops him early Kovalev same as above Gilberto Ramirez a bit premature to say that but I think he could beat James Toney the PED power might be too much for Ramirez to deal with Then who else... I've likely missed out a good few who would beat him afterall he did struggle with Dave Tiberi. Well, this is all fantasy-matchmaking, but I agree with Ward (mainly because I HAVE to hype him up to be a GOAT talent, so Kovalev can get full credit for disposing of him with the ease that he will) But I disagree with Adonis. Dude is ****. I'm not sure where this myth that he's some "good boxer," came from, but it used to go around a lot in 2013 when he was supposed to fight Kovalev the first time. Adonis does not have good boxing ability, IMO. He's a one trick pony. He has one punch. His footwork is bad and he's basically a plodder. To top that off, he has absolutely no chin and I am certain prime Toney would put him to sleep. I haven't seen too much of Ramirez, other then the Abraham fight, which was a tough fight to gauge his skill level because Abraham has absolutely zero skills and is as basic as a fighter as there possibly is.

Oh, yeah, Jirov had a great record and was crushing people up until that fight. I think like 3 or 4 of his fights weren't KO's. I was just speaking stylistically. Jirov was a lefty and more of a volume puncher. I think GGG has the better fundamentals and would pick his shots better against Toney. It would be a much different looking fight. Yes, then Jirov met the PED abusing cheat James Toney.
