Sounds like Dawson couldn't take the weight off right.
They took the risk it failed badly, the great thing about now is the mentality of "what have you done lately".
we all saw it from the get go he was drained he had no energy really stupid of Dawson taking the fight at 168.
probably could have made about the same money fighting Pascal or cloud why sacrifice your body for 600K
Because they think they can do it and they dont get a practice shot , so they they learn the hard way making a weight and performing at your best at that weight is 2 entirely different deals .

the fact that he does just about everything that counts on or around expert level is quite special. there are literally very few fighters today who u can make that claim about. in fact u can probably count them on one hand. ward is a special fighter.
The individual parts are not special but the finished product is.
Well he's right, Ward doesn't do anything special he just does many things well. No great tool, just a big ass tool box.

Hmmm...I've always thought his inside game was special/standout as well as his defensive footwork, ablity to move in and out. He switches effortlessly between righty and lefty, and he is left handed, with a great left hook. You can see this in all his fights, especially against Froch and Bika. However, maybe his 'perceived' lack of punching power nullifies the impact. But yeah, when everything comes togehter...skill, mind, will...he is a toolbox.
I would say Ward's instincts, ring awareness, focus is special, he knows exactly when his opponents are gonna go on the attack. Defensively, he's probably the best right now. Almost like a mangoose in there, doesn't have many special attributes but he applies everything together so well, which in turns makes him a special fighter.

I agree with you 100%. I listened to the interview with Scully and even after seeing the fight Scully continued to say that " Ward doesn't do anything special". I think it confirms that they completely underestimated Ward, and that's what prevented them from making adjustments in the fight. Chad fought the whole fight with his right hand down...and was open for the job/left hook all night. Mayweather would have shut that punch down, but Chad didn't know what to do. However, Chad's defense was impressive at times. He made Ward miss badly sometimes...its was hilarious
There was nothing impressive about Dawson that night.
The problem I have with Scully is that they seemed to have one game plan. That was to catch Ward coming in. I will never understand as to why a fighter of Dawson's skill level get hit in the same place 83 times. 83 times!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He was weight drained, it was poor preparation, and his skills have declined. He didn't know where the punches where coming from, he didn't know if Ward was going to use his right or left, and Scully kept telling Dawson to watch out for Ward's right hand. Dawson showed no movement, he was a dead zombie in there.
If Scully was a good trainer, he would have a better gameplan then that.

when iceman scully stated that chad didnt need to change a thing against ward i nearly swallowed my tongue.
i put part of the blame on scully.

At no point did Iceman actually deny or address Dawson getting KO'd by Miranda, just that he doesn't believe who the source is.
Chad got KO'd. Damn.
He was asked "is there any truth to that?" and he said "no". And then he said those stories were made up. But he also said Chad's brother was there and his brother said Chad got hurt in sparring if I'm not mistaken.
The weightloss would always be a problem. A guy weighing 190 will have Big trouble making 168. This is not a shot at Scully, who, as he says, is not responsible for the weight, but rather on Dawson himself, his nutritionist, manager and promotor. They should never have allowed Dawson to fight at this weight.
I hope those guys enjoy their respective share of Dawsons 600k purse. I know Dawson earned his share.
Thanks for posting BTW.

I'm glad to hear Scully say that Chad needs to unify against the winner of Cloud/Pascal. That's a solid match.
It was a terrible strategy Team Dawson. In the second round, Scully's game-plan was exposed. He wanted Dawson to establish the jab and fight Ward on the pocket so Ward would be fearful fighting on the inside. Dumb strategy.
Dawson needed to use foot-movement to create distance so he can use his height and reach better. That's how Steward and Floyd Sr made Dawson fight, they made him fight tall and made him use foot movement to create distance. But no Scully made Dawson fight in the pocket where he was open to all of Ward's shots, head and body. And you can see that Dawson's skills have declined offensively too. Dawson didn't even know if he wanted to throw a left-cross left or a right hook, and when he did throw a right hook or a left-cross, it was a wide looping telegraphed punch.
Terrible strategy, terrible training camp, and he was also weight-drained. But the way Dawson was fighting, he would have lost to Ward at 175 too.
I honestly believe Dawson NEEDS to go back to Mayweather Sr. He was the only trainer who actually complimented with Dawson and the domination of Adamek displayed when he fought him is proof of that

Scully is full of ****. Dawson got KTFO in sparring. He wants to know who leaked it.
What the hell happened to your guy? I just watched the Bellew-Miranda fight last night and was disappointed in the lack of intensity from Miranda. He looked flat and uninspired in what could have been a career saving fight.
