Mayweather says a lot of things. Let's see him fight Cotto, Margarito, and Mosely. And we'll see if he's still undefeated after that. But see, that would be an action, not talk. Tough for floyd. Talking is easy. Fighting little guys trying to move up, easy. Fighting natural welters who are dangerous punchers? No sir. Not the Floyd I know. LOL

LOLOL This is a funny, biased, one-sided article. Belongs on boxing talk with Greg Leon's fan babies. I honestly just don't feel like doing all the typing necessary to straighten this post out. Most serious fans can sort through it on their own, and the ones who can't are Mayweather Mafia and think he shits gold and platinum and has never ducked anyone. The majority of his big fights have been fighting naturally smaller fighters, or cherry picking fighters at the right time of their career, etc. He's a very skilled fighter. But he's had really only a handful of fights with guys who are genuine welters and jr middles, which is his natural size. And the list of fighters who we would've rather have seen him fight as opposed to who he actually fought is a mile long (and growing). Marquez has no chance, he's just too small of a guy. Lengthen each of Marquez's limbs by a few inches and give him about 10 more lbs of natural, lean muscle and I think he beats Mayweather. Because he'd be roughly the same size. The fight is going to be competitive at the beginning, but end up a joke. It's going to look like what it is, and what many of Mayweather's fights have been... two fighters in distinctly different weight classes fighting. It means the world below middleweight, which Floyd knows well. Bottom line. The best and most dangerous fighters in welter or jr middle over the past few years. Cotto, Margarito, Williams, Mosely, etc. We would've all liked to have seen any one of them. It doesn't surprise me that he makes his comeback when Margarito and Williams disappeared from the picture, Cotto's been beaten to a pulp, and SSM turns back the clock for a phenomenal performance but is getting too long in the tooth to keep that pace for another couple years. If he fought those 4 fighters in the past 2 years, he'd be 2-2 against them at best. That's reality. Floyd knows it. That's why he tip-toed around em all.

Hehe. This whole thread is stupid. Just sit back for one second and think of the logic of what you're suggesting. When a fighter is caught attempting to cheat, then his past wins (where he was not caught cheating in any way whatsoever) are going to be asterisked? It's utterly absurd. I understand, everyone is all over Cotto's nuts again, and all excited about Margarito cheating and being suspended, blah blah blah. But seriously. Settle down and think about what you're suggesting. Someone commits a crime, and all of his legal past is condemned? LOL Oh, and yes it's actually a VERY similar situation to Tito-Hopkins. Tito's hands were examined and described as feeling like a "cast" prior to the fight. So he was made to re-wrap them in front of an official or he couldn't fight. He fought with the re-wrapped hands, got KO'd. So hey, why not asterisk that Vargas win? ;) Why stop there? Joppy? And why discriminate between attempting to cheat with illegal substance in your gloves, or illegal substances in your body? Why should one necessitate an asterisk and the other not? After all, both are illegally cheating to help you hurt your opponent more and win the fight. And if you want to talk about "knowing" a fighter cheated but not being able to prove it. Mosely himself is the prime example. I mean, the guy was a BALCO client. Ahem!!! (cough cough). Yeah, exactly. There's no pro-athlete client of BALCO's that wasn't using the new engineered steroids. So Mosely, we know as a roider in the past, even though he's never failed a drug test that we know of. So let's hand him a suspension and some asterisks while were at it!! ;) I hope the absurd logic of this "asterisk" is finally starting to sink in...

This is absurd. So any boxer who has won fights, then been caught cheating, failed drug tests...whatever, that all his previous big wins should have asterisks by them? This is laughable, really. I mean, the precendence it sets would be staggering... should I start making a list of losses that should have asterisks by them in the past, because of a fighter having been caught cheating later on? I'll start now and still be making the list this time tomorrow...

This is amusing. First of all, we will never KNOW for sure. We are all just speculating. But educated speculation, with actually WATCHING that fight, and knowing the sport, knowing the fighters, absolutely NOTHING looks out of the ordinary in Margarito-Cotto. I mean, has anyone seen the Margarito destructions of Cintron? He had Paul Williams, a guy with a heavyweight frame, backing up and hurting him. Margarito is a powerful fighter. Watch the Cotto fight again, people. Cotto was getting hammered in there. Constantly. He hung in there longer than I thought he would as I saw it live, because he was getting brutalized on the inside and with those wide punches to the head. And MOST IMPORTANTLY, nobody (and I mean NOBODY) did I say NOBODY? Yes, NO-****ing-body said a single word about anything looking odd or seeming abnormal about the fight that night after the fact. Not until after the Mosely incident, now everyone is dialing in their hindsight. LOL "Oh yeah, I ...uh....thought something was odd about how Margarito was hurting him... Yeah. I did." Really? Cause you didn't SAY shit about it until the Mosely incident. Raphael is a Cotto fan, it's cool. But I think it's irresponsible of him as a journalist to say that Margarito cheated, because he simply does NOT know, and NOTHING looked odd about the fight whatsoever. If it DID, someone would've said something. It's only now after the Mosely thing that he, and other Cotto fans (understandably), are going back and looking at that fight, trying to see things that aren't there... and telling themselves they see it. Margarito brutalized Cotto. He took everything that Cotto could throw, and Cotto became tired and Margarito just started putting it on him. It's simple.

I love Tyson, but it would be hard to see him beating Vitali. We've still never really seen Vitali in serious trouble or behind on the cards. It would be a tough fight. Tyson with Rooney may have been able to plan enough inside body work to slow Vitali down and punish him. But, honestly, probably not. Vitali probably wins. And skimming over the posts... Byrd did not beat Vitali, he just happened to be in the same ring with him when he tore his rotator. Byrd lost almost every single round of the fight. A prime DLH of COURSE beats a prime Mayweather. I mean, look what a well-past-it DLH was able to do against him. Made it razor close. For those who just started watching DLH in recent years, go back and watch his fights pre-Mosely. The difference in his pop and speed in his prime vs. say after the Mosely rematch is remarkable. Mayweather would be in real trouble. Mayweather does not want to fight anyone bigger and stronger than himself, that was the exception because DLH was past-it, and DLH still nearly won. Margarito, Williams, etc and Mayweather runs for the hills. Little guys trying to move up to welter tho? Oh, Floyd's all over that. LOL

If I had to bet, I'd take Taylor with the odds. He's been losing lately, but focused and dedicated, he can beat any of those guys. He was within a few seconds of beating Froch (a better corner would've got him out of there with a win). Kessler's the overall best fighter of any of them, and he should and will be the favorite. Froch gets hit too much, I just don't see him beating Kessler like that. Or maybe even Abraham, as hard as he hits. Froch-Abraham would be a great fight while it lasted. Abraham, I'm just not sold on. He hasn't been in with the strength and skill the rest of the fighters have. I could see Kessler nearly shutting him out, Taylor or Froch KO'ing him. This will be fun to watch.

Actually the term African-American should not even refer to race. That's a misuse of words. Because many WHITE people are in fact African-Americans. LOL If Corrie Sanders comes to the US to live, then he's an African-American. It's absurd, actually. It's like saying "I'm a French-American. That means I'm white." Like there's no black people in France. But you know, some people are sensitive, and it's an old term, so it'll die hard. But it's the single most absurd term we have for race or skin-color, naming it after an actual continent.

LOL It's so funny everytime one of these comes up. When it happens in the US, it's just bad scores, bad judges, etc. When it happens in Germany, it's a bonafide Nazi Conspiracy. Get a grip, people. It's a bad scorecard. That's boxing. At least the final winner was correct.

Kessler's the best overall fighter of the bunch, and should be the favorite. But don't rule out Taylor if he can rededicate himself and get in phenomenal shape. He's the sleeper of the tourney. Abraham... has he been with anyone as strong and skilled as Kessler or Taylor? I'm not quite sold on him, especially down the stretch. Froch... I'm not sold on at all. Taylor gassed out, but before that he was picking Froch off and winning rounds fairly easily. Credit to Froch for a dramatic KO win, but Taylor refocused would win the rematch, I feel. Froch is strong, but I think Kessler and Taylor can beat him. Froch-Abraham is tough to pick. That'd be fun to watch.

The purse for Bute-Andrade II was 1.2 million USD. Felix Sturm's purse was bigger than the purse for both Bute-Andrade. Oh and Sturm fought japanese 'superstar' Sato. Money talks. Bullshit walks. Topic: Non-German fighters should NEVER fight in Germany ..... and germans should never fight a yank superstar in the US. Schulz, Sturm both tried........... and was....... well.... on the losing end of a questionable decision. Exactly! Thank you... Schulz losing to Foreman, and Sturm to DLH are two of the worst decisions, and blatant robberies that you will see. Both Germans fighting media darlings at the time in the US.

Peter was picked across the board, on nearly every fansite and forum, to KO Wlad within 5. Peter was on a path of destruction, and Wlad had gassed out in that weird way against Brewster, and had not looked like the old Wlad since the Brewster fight. Peter looked invincible going in, and took an unholy beating in that fight, and was just demoralized every time Wlad got up (from legal and illegal shots) and Peter has never really been the same since. That fight was a huge turning point, where Wlad has been the best HW in the world since that night and not looked back. So to me, that's Wlad's best victory.

Get the number of the Chop-Chop v. Mayweather fight. LOL The place wasn't even half full. Mayweather by himself is not a huge draw. He's not, and will never be, a DLH, a Cotto, etc. It matters who he fights, and the guy he's fighting is usually the reason the numbers are big.

Yeah, it was so close to being an epic night. I mean, someone was getting KO'd in that fight if that freak cut doesn't happen. And to me, it looked like it was going to be Lennox. That "punch" that cut him didn't even land, it slid over his eye and tore it, that's why it wasn't a clean cut. Just a total freak thing that wouldn't happen again if they fought 100 times. Oh what I'd give to see what would've happened in the championship rounds of that fight... Vitali begging (and pleading) for a rematch, and Lennox turning down 20 mil for the rematch ultimately tells the story of that fight.

If you really haven't seen the fight why title the thread "Robin Reid ROBBED against Calzaghe!" ? LOL It's clear you have an agenda. This fight has been dissected over and over on here over the years. And the Roy avatar tells me all I need to know about why you'd make this thread with that title. So don't act like this isn't a troll thread when it so obviously is.

Corrie had a sick left hand for a heavy. Unfortunately, he was so good with it coming up through the ranks and with his unusual handspeed for a heavy, he never improved his head movement and defense before he got to the top. If Wlad could've gotten out of that first round, then he would've TKO'd Corrie. Corrie gave anyone B+ and less hell at the beginning of a fight, and then the elite guys settled in and realized he didn't move his head much, they came back on him. Vitali, Rahman. The Wlad now, would've too. You can see Wlad didn't even adjust, and he never was able to tie Corrie up, move side to side, anything. That was a younger Wlad who didn't understand how to deal with adversity because he was so dominant. Corrie was an exciting power-punching HW contender. To me, that's a huge compliment. Something we used to take for granted with the Razor Ruddock's and Tommy Morrison's, but we appreciate a lot more now, I think.

I don't get how so many people post this rubbish about Cotto somehow beating Mayweather. Would he have a shot? Of course. But seeing what Judah could do to Cotto for a while should be more than enough to convince anybody of what Mayweather would be able to do.... LOL Ummmmm..... Judah also did a number on Mayweather for 4 rounds, rocked him, and technically knocked him down. Judah has fatigue and chin problems, or else he'd be on a completely different level. But when he gets in an offensive groove, Judah can be hard to handle. But as for the "rubbish" it's no more rubbish than people posting how Mayweather would destroy Cotto. Because Mayweather never fought anyone that strong, with that much power, who puts short power punch combos together that well. Cotto is really an amazing fighter. It's a shame someone had to lose Saturday.

Hehe, I forgot that the kiddies took over this forum. Ok, let me breathe a little bit of life in here for all the "Mayweather is God" fanbabies. Mayweather has never beaten anyone with the power/skill combination of Cotto in...well....EVER! Simple as that. Mayweather is an awesome fighter, don't get me wrong. But he did cherry-pick his way into the welters by beating its most beatable lineal champ in a long, long time. Those of you comparing Baldomir to Margarito are just plain silly. Baldomir is just a straight ahead, one-two fighter, with no head-movement. His claim to fame is catching Judah with one shot, that Judah basically never recovered from. Baldomir is not Margarito. Read that again if you need to. Margarito shoots punches from so many different angles, both to the head and the body, is utterly relentless, and comes in incredible shape. He switches his power shots to the head and body, with upper cuts and angles that just wears you out. Especially down the stretch. Yes, Williams beat him, but in a 15 round fight, Margarito would've taken it. Williams had the freakish size and range to stay away from him, and wanted nothing to do with engaging him. And I have a news-flash for you guys, Williams when he's on his game will give anyone serious trouble below 154, Mayweather included. Mayweather would never fight Williams. And I mean, never. Read that again, if you need to. Never. Mayweather's success in most of his fights comes from his quick jab, based on his ridiculous reach advantage he had in almost every fight, which kept his opponents off-balance and let him shoot his insanely quick power shots at will. Mayweather has never fought anyone with the size, power, relentlessness, durability or ferociousness of Margarito, who can take everything Mayweather can throw at him, and has the size and reach to really pressure Mayweather. The closest would've been Castillo, who of course is less in every category, or DLH, who has fallen way off and fought a horrible style against Floyd. I mean, name someone who Floyd beat who Margarito wouldn't have beaten probably worse. LOL Hatton? Margarito would've ended Hatton in 3 rounds. Hatton is not a welterweight, and is crippled by a terribly small reach. Taylor-made for Floyd. DLH? As we all saw from that fight, a prime DLH would've made Floyd look silly. Because this way-past-prime version of DLH gave him all he could handle, while fighting the worst gameplan imaginable. And the worst part of Saturday night was, Cotto himself would've had a very good chance of beating Mayweather. In fact, I would've favored him. His quick combos, short punches, strength, volume, etc. He'll never get that chance now, of course. But Margarito should. After that performance, and the dodges by Floyd in the past, he should get his shot against Mayweather. It won't happen, for most of the reasons it never happened before. Mayweather doesn't want to fight him. Never did. Floyd isn't nearly as confident as his fanboys. ;)

Riddle me this: Are you honestly saying that in a fight between Cotto and Mayweather, you feel Cotto should be the favorite to win? Because that's all I'm talking about. I don't give a flying fuck about retards who take examples and comments to extreme ends of the spectrum. No, I wouldn't expect that, but for my line, yes. I would have (past tense) given Cotto the edge in that fight. His defense is exceptional for that offensive of a fighter, and of course based on Cotto's punching power, his combos, his handspeed, his footwork. Mayweather has faced those things, but not all in the same fighter, not at that level of power and strength. But would I expect Vegas to favor Cotto? Of course not. Vegas odds are based off of name power, who everyone is going to put their money on, general common knowledge, the general public, ie., not you and I, not serious boxing fans. Cotto can't even speak English. He's not known outside of the boxing community or Puerto Rico, New York, etc. So yes, I favor Cotto. No, I wouldn't expect him to be favored. Now, that was all before Saturday. Who knows if Cotto can come back from that and be the same fighter?

Cotto was the BEST (besides Williams) that Marg has seen....so you are saying that we would get the same outcome with a fighter who is MUCH better than Cotto AND Williams...help me out? First of all, "better" is a very ambiguous term, and really shouldn't be used to describle fighters. And then you throw in the "MUCH".... LOL. Name someone who Floyd has fought who has the power/speed/combinations of Cotto. Or someone with the size/reach of Williams. Yeah, I'll be waiting awhile.... I'd honestly pick Cotto or Williams over Mayweather. Maybe not now, because Cotto may not recover from that beating. He could very well be another Meldrick Taylor, Jeff Lacy, etc... I sure hope not, but it's likely that he won't return to his previous form after Saturday. Really none of the fighters Floyd has fought at welter are in the category of Cotto, Williams and Margarito. Hatton? Should never have fought at 147, small, short reach, etc. DLH? Way past his prime, still a good fighter, fought Floyd razor-close with a horrible fight strategy. I mean, do I need to keep going? Mitchell? Chop-chop? LOL Name someone who was at the top of their game, at the level of a Cotto or Williams when he fought them at welter.

Any chance of Mayweather fighting Margarito flew out the window with that performance against Cotto. Mayweather did very well at the lower weights where he had a ridiculous reach advantage over nearly every opponent he fought. But when he began to move up to his natural weight fighting guys his size, he really began to cherry-pick his fights, and tip-toed around the toughest fights. He retired with a lot of questions unanswered, a lot of prime, hungry dangerous fighters calling his name. His toughest fights were ahead of him. That will pretty much be his legacy.

Just to play devil's advocate for a second, the answers to this thread are almost identical to the predictions for Hatton-Tszyu. Hehe ;) But of course, a huge welterweight like Hearns is going to beat Hatton. Hatton isn't a welterweight and never should've fought above 140. And he's fairly small for even 140 these days.

Ridiculously easy fight to score. It was 6 rounds a piece, with Hatton getting an extra point for the early kd. Hatton wins by a point. I don't remember anyone on these boards the day after the fight, even ol Bozonono and the usual Hatton haters, denying Hatton won. What the fight did show, is that Hatton is not, and never will be, a welterweight. He should've learned from that fight and never fought above 140 again.

Yes I know about alot of prospects too sir. The point I was trying to make is how was he regarded was his name put in sentences with the others I mnetioned sir? I know I blow my nose often but I still cant remember the last tiem I did. WEell you get the point right? A prospect? Dude, he was calling out Hopkins and Jones on Showtime probably 2 years before the Lacy fight. There's a couple different level of boxing fan. Serious Boxing Fan - aware of most all major champions and long-reigning titlists above featherweight, orders 3 out of every 4 PPVs, and reads at least one or two forums or boxing websites. Has a diplomatic, non-nationalistic view of boxing, and has a deep well of boxing knowledge that comes from actually watching and following the fight game for many years. Casual Boxing Fan - not sure who is champ and who isn't. Knows the fighters in his own area/country and is pretty well ignorant of all others. Orders fights rarely since Tyson retired. Yet has first-hand knowledge of several big boxing events (Tyson Holy 2, etc). Newb Boxing Fan - is all over the forums, because the internet and forum posting is a way of their life. Loud and vocal about things he/she has no idea about. All boxing knowledge is from youtube, boxrec and from watching HBO and listening to Kellerman and Lampley for the past couple years. Serious Boxing Fans knew about Calzaghe, and knew Lacy was in for a serious fight. The other two fan-types thought they were going to watch Lacy's 4th easy knockout in a row.
