I wouldn't be surprised if Ali got off the canvas to get the win, there would be some edgy moments early on. But i think he would be too smart, too evasive and have too much stamina, once it got into the mid-late rounds he would really start to put on the pressure and break Tyson's will, eventually stopping him.
yo Ryan,
I have a great idea. There should be a "Boxing Scene Outing" where we can spar with other users, meet some fighters, meet some girls, take pics, possibly call out Hatton, etc.
Possibly call out Hatton, Haha.
What is the quote in your sig out of mate?
Do you guys ever get the feeling you could take it to a boxer from watchin his fights? If so, please specify. (BE HONEST!)
For ex, watching Hatton - Lazcano i was thinking "Wow, I think I could knock Ricky out if I catch him clean"
I know what you mean, but its generally a fighter who would be several divisions below me in weight lol, and aren't elite.
What people see on TV is the finished product. The guy who shows up on HBO and ESPN2 is the product of the work put in during the 6-8 weeks of grueling labor and sacrifice. If you saw what these guys go through on a daily basis to get the bodies that they have, you would understand why I'm telling you that no, you don't have much of a chance with a pro boxer, particularly in a boxing match.
I was reading the George Plimpton book "ShadowBox", and in it they said that former middleweight champion Stanley Ketchel used to take whoopings from people in the stands who he dared to fight him, but who knows.
Theres a biggest difference between a fight, and a boxing match, though. Massive difference.
Johnson didn't get "Sturm'd" but I tend to favor the fighters who landed the cleaner, harder shots. Dawson was hurt a few times, and Johnson was not. If you look at the two fighters the next day, you would have a hard time guessing that Johnson was involved in a pro boxing match the day before...
Fortunately that isn't how boxing is scored.
Watch the body language before the stoppage.
Cotto was done.
He wanted out before he was literally knocked out and brain fucked.
That's not lambasting on Cotto.
He need to live to fight another day.
It's lambasting on the bitches who claimed Cotto would only ever go out on his back and talked shit about other fighters quitting and taking knees.
I agree with this. The ref looked at him to see if he wanted to get back into it and he had a devastated broken look on his face and left his hands down and stepped back. His family were watching in the crowd devastated so i don't blame the man, he knew he was going to get sparked genuinely if he tried to finish out the round.
Tua, what criteria do you run your P4P fighters through to come to a result?
(not criticising just curious, makes it easier to understand/compare if you are using a similar set of criteria)
I don't really know a whole lot about the lower weights but my list would be something along these lines.
1. Manny Pacquiao
2. Joe Calzaghe
3. Miguel Cotto
4. JMM
5. Israel Vazquez
6. Rafael Marquez
7. Kelly Pavlik
8. Ricky Hatton
9. Wladimir Klitschko
10. David Haye
Haye in the top 10 is a joke, his resume is Weak, he's not even top 20
Here's my list:
1. Manny Pacquiao
2. Joe Calzaghe
3. Miguel Cotto
4. Juan Manuel Marquez
5. Kelly Pavlik
6. Israel Vazquez
7. Bernard Hopkins
8. Christian Mijares
9. Wladimir Klitschko
10. Rafael Marquez
To be honest i put Hatton, Haye and Wlad (you won't agree with this name being tied in obviously) in mainly just to represent the divisions and get a good spread, makes me a sad panda thinking about weak divisions, especially cruiser and heavy, as the low divisions are spewing with talent.
On revision, Bhop probably deserves to be on the tail end of my list, as my grounds for JMM being very high were effected by his narrow loss to Pac, and BHop was pretty competitive with p4p #2 Calzaghe.
if you don't like it then don't watch it.
don't make threads about it in a boxing forum as well.
go to sherdog.com
I agree. Each to his own (I don't like UFC).
Being childish and bitching about it just makes you as bad as the idiot MMA fans that talk petty garbage about boxing.
yeah , i would have cristian and ivan there if it wasn't for i had to have haye and wlad there.
why are people so down on ricky? he lost to the #1 p4p guy and he's still the lineal champ at 140.
it's preference when it comes to juan manuel and rafael. i find rafael's style more pleasing and like him better.
I think youth and future is greatly favoured. As you said you aren't really counting whether they are on the incline or decline so that effects your list, makes it very resume based, which is fine.
Nah the boxers just made them look that way.
What a crock of horseshit, the guy clearly had no idea what he was doing. No power at all, he was useless.
A well rounded martial artists would murder a boxer 9/10 under mixed rules, anyone who says otherwise is a fool. Its like saying a UFC fighter wouldn't beat a boxer under MMA rules.
Just throwing it out there, Pac had target practice on Diaz round after round, and couldn't put him down. Eventually he caught him clean enough to put him out.
like i said before , the question on this thread is would you watch it.
what i want , what you want might not necessarily be what manny or oscar or their people want or would do.
my plan if i was manny and had absolutely control of everything having to do with him and his respective opponents?
end of 2008 - fight ricky hatton for his lineal belt.
beginning of 2009 - fight winner of marquez/casamayor
mid of 2009 - fight winner of guzman/campbell
end of 2009 - rematch juan manuel marquez if casamayor won or fight katsidis/diaz winner
beginning of 2009 - fight a young undefeated prospect that won't command big money at 135 so he can have a goodbye retirement fight in philippines.
Yeah thats fair enough. I definitely wouldn't be willing to pay for it, but i would drive to the pub or stream it.
I am stating FACTS.....Tua is a fat bum.....that's a FACT....Tua never won a title or accomplished anything......that's a FACT.....Wlad >>>> Fatty Tua.....FACT!!!!!
I'll state a fact, your a bitter arsehole. Nothing like taking a friendly joking thread far too serious for your own good.
One thing that hasn't been mentioned.
Kostya is one of the nicest people to ever set foot in the ring, just listen to the guy talk, he is a great person. Real class act.
Haha poor old UltimateBoxa, he seemed like a friendly enough guy if he just left the drama queen antics outside the forum, at least he was passionate about his favourite boxer.
