Do you think Ali would get into Tyson's head at the pre fight press conference? Do you think Ali's mind games would work on the mentally messed up Tyson and what do you think would happen.
i wouldnt be at all suprised about that dude, if not for Cus then Tyson would have been in jail long before he actually was and I have seen interviews with Mike where he talks about Cus and you can actually see the steel melt when he talks about him.
My favourite Tyson interview is with some news guy and Tyson keeps swearing. And the news guy is like "Ok, back to the studio, good luck with the fight Mike" and Mike looks to the camera and just go's "Fuck off!"
you hav completely taken what i said the wrong way dude said no tried to get in tysons head i sed berbick did. if u read my earlier post u will see how i feel about the whole situation
Don't worry, I know what you meant.
Tyson would win IMO,Ali had problems with some fighters, like Joe Frazier,a smaller but compact and agressive fighter,IMO,a prime Tyson had more power then Frazier, had a better chin, and was more of a monster,Tyson would win.
that theory might work if frazier had faced the prime ali.
he didn't. so that theory doesn't work.

He also lacks Joe's heart.
I agree in part Live Dog, in that i dont doubt that Cus covered up a lot more than we are ever aware of, BUT i still feel that he was a different person entirely, and a different fighter when under Cus's guidance.
I can dig it. Cus was a father figure to Mike and that is always a tough situation when that person is no longer around.
On another note, I'm a big fan of Keith Olberman. For those that don't know, Keith is a radio/tv personality in the states who covers politics/sports. He was on the radio awhile back talking about the first time he had met Tyson and how he had this preconceived notion of how Mike was going to behave. The difference being that Olberman is actually a distant relative of D'amato's and when he told Mike that he turned into a puppy dog. Kept following him around the whole night wanting to talk about Cus.

cus died before tyson won any of his belts.
cus dying hurt tyson but it didn't hurt him in the ring.
cus could have helped his personal life and that would've helped him a bit in the ring but who's to say all that money and fame wouldn't have turned mike into the exact same person he did.
success can lead people to rebel against authoritarian figures in their lives.

The Cus excuse is used way too much. Tyson had the same problems his whole life, it's just Cus was able to cover most of them up when Tyson was young.
bingo.
people seem to forget that the tyson buster douglas koed is the prime tyson......
Ali would have stood less chance of getting inside the head of a young, Cus D'amato led Tyson, the Tyson who swept the HW division to unify the titles.
That would make the fight more interesting IMO as Tyson didnt know fear back then.
trying to be as subjective as i can, i say that Tyson wins the early rounds on pressure alone but gets frustrated by Ali's movement and great Jab, if Tyson doesnt KO Ali within 6 or 7 then i give an SD to Ali.

tyson couldn't ko ali.
liston , frazier , foreman and shavers couldn't.
norton breaking ali's jaw didn't ko ali...... i doubt tyson could land anything that would ko him. at best tyson can get flash knockdown of ali.
I wouldn't be surprised if Ali got off the canvas to get the win, there would be some edgy moments early on. But i think he would be too smart, too evasive and have too much stamina, once it got into the mid-late rounds he would really start to put on the pressure and break Tyson's will, eventually stopping him.
Yea Ali would get in Tysons head,he got into everybodys head and Tysons no different..
It would be an exciting first few rounds and I really think Tyson would give Ali problems before faltering later on to lose by decison or a late KO.
Ali fought the Tyson of his day and "Shook up the World!"
ali fought 3 tysons of his day.
liston , frazier and foreman.
ali was 5-1 against them and 4 of those fights were past prime ali.

Tyson's opponents never really got into his head before a fight. It only happened during a fight if he couldn't easily overpower them. Ali would outbox him for a decision, possibly a late rd stoppage.
Trevor Berbick tried and failed
