:lol1: Marquez jumped up 2 weight classes and Floyd still cheated him on the scales.
The entire fight was fought in the middle of the ring. Do you really think Floyd two lbs lighter would've really helped Marquez land more than 12% of his punches?
This is a publicity stunt. Right now Mannys more politician than boxer and this will play good with his base. He never has and never will negotiate his own fights. Does he really think he's gonna get a better offer than the one he got last year? In fact if I were Floyd I'd offer him 25.
I can't see it. Martinez has the heart but not the tools anymore. I hope he shuts it down. Unless HBO offers him a multi million dollar contract for GGG gracefully bow out while he can still walk on that already gimpy knee.
GGG needs to fight fighters with different styles. It will be good for his development , even though he's already 30+. Everybody can't be a face first bums coming at him. Rosado is different but he's a B- maybe B+ on his best day. But all these other guys won't prepare GGG for Ward or Froch for that matter.
Canelo didn't look drained to me. He looked like he was in supreme condition. He didn't even fade late like I'd seen him do in previous fights. Same people crying are the same ones screaming fight GGG and Martinez at 154. They don't have a problem with those old guys cutting the weight. But there crying about a 23 yr old cutting 2 lbs? Hypocrites.
Stop trying to sell this fight. It is what it is. The people that like Pacquiao like this match up and the people that don't like Pacquiao think it's a cherry pick. Your not changing anybodies mind on here. Both sides are dug in. Personally I don't care much for this match up but I'm not knocking Pacquiao for taking it. The man has to eat. So if a Bobs going to offer Pacquiao big money to fight Rios he should take it. Just don't be trying to Khan me.
Only in boxing smh. You make a mistake at 2 yrs old people will bring it up to make their argument. Boxing is the only sport where you are not allowed to get better. People still bring up the first Castillo fight even though it was almost 15 years ago. Like it has any relevance to the way the man fights today.
He will have at least one more shot at a championship. He has Haymon now so all he has to do is point plus Showtime absolutely loves Lucas. If he wants he can get a rematch if Showtime and the other sponsors pony up the money for it. Who else at 140 can Danny fight that will bring in revenue for Showtime? Maybe Khan but I thought he was moving up because he was killing himself to make 140. If they make Danny a great enough offer he will have no choice but to give Lucas a rematch
Rematch clause
Ya sure I guess. Mares looked like he was staring at the Corona girls when he got hit with that hay maker. I remember being very high on Mares going in. I was/am impressed with the way he was/is developing. Completely different fighter from the c0ck knocker who knocked Adbeckos c0ck into the nose bleed seats in their first fight.
A little search at Google will provide you plenty of videos coming from the horse mouth how terrified he was anything about Pacquiao.
Sure Floyd's so scared he offered Manny the fight 2x and Manny turned it down 2x. All your Floyd hating won't ever change that fact. Personally I'm a fan of both but I have to call it like I see. And when you pass on Floyd to fight Clottey there is no way to convince ME that you really wanted the fight. So save your breath. So we disagree. I'm OK with that.
He does deserve a shot. Who's saying he doesn't? But in order to make the fight both sides have to agree. There's enough blame on both sides to go around. Truth is Top Rank should of never passed on the 2009 offer. It was more than a fair offer that would of made all parties involved a boat load of money. I still can't believe Manny chose Clottey over Floyd.
1.5 is a big number. 3G's last fight and Berto vs Ortiz are the only ones I can think off hand that have brought in that kind of number recently. But Broner vs Paulie did like 1.4 so I wouldn't be shocked.
Now you want to come out of your rat hole. I was calling you all day on Saturday. Where did you watch the fight?
Interesting notion, and let's not forget that Floyd is loyal to nobody but himself. He could very well push Golden Boy aside and temporarily partner with Top Rank to make a fight or two. Remember that nobody saw the switch to Showtime coming?
That's true he could push GBP to the side. But if he's serious about being a promoter he has to worry about his other fighters as well. Is he going to move his entire stable to HBO? Plus Haymon and Bob Arum absolutely loath each other. So who is left to negotiate on Floyd's behave?
two southpaws he is scared of Pac and Lara
10 to 1 he doesn't know who Lara is. And why should he? Do you really think he watches the fights like you or I do? Saturday he could've been ringside in San Antonio to watch his boy in his toughest fight but was he there? Hell no. You know where he was? Court side at the Charlotte Bobcats game vs the Lakers.
Diamond in the rough, far from a bum. Diego Chaves is a problem, took it to Thurman. Very good fighter, and very young. Will bounce back huge.
He had Thurman hurt in the fourth and neither fighter did anything for the next two rounds. So I can't call a four round fighter a diamond in the ruff. He's closer to a bum than a top prospect IMO.
They put Floyd/Ghost on ppv. lara is a bigger star. And what does struggling with Angulo mean??
The Ghost actually quit a fight before.
Victor Ortiz quit before.
I've always maintained lara lost to Molina, ages ago, so what?? People have said Floyd lost to Castillo in the 1st fight. $h!t happens. Too many excuses, not enough expectants.
When did Guerrero ever quit in a fight?
Come again? I've always said Floyd has better pop than most people say, but acknowledge that his hands are breaking down over time. That aside, Ortiz not getting up even though he could is a damning indictment as him as an opponent. Weak sauce.
It was weak sauce I agree with that. Lets keep it real here he didn't head butt Floyd because he was winning the fight lol. He pulled a punk move and got snuffed for doing it.
He's a pressure fighter who has a chin and can punch. When he's in shape he usually puts up a good fight. I didn't think he was in good shape against Devon.
Over... what is so great about Saturday night though, despite the ratings it might've gotten, the aftermath of the controversy spread like wildfire across the internet. It even crossed over into meme territory where non boxing fans would enjoy the embarrassment Broner experienced that night. It became viral. So the sport benefited from it as it is sure to bring new fans thanks to the massive exposure it got.
The card was stacked with young stars such as Broner, Thurman, and Santa Cruz.
Yeah, because he'd be doing **** like this at the altar: http://31.media.tumblr.com/5849a29e50be0995cadb8e409fcfa7cf/tumblr_mpsg3hY9Rs1qhki4ao1_400.gif
Normal behavior for an African American church.
We all know there's a business side to boxing yet we pretend it doesn't exist when it comes to Floyd. I could easily make the argument that Manny ducked the entire WW division but that would be a disengenuos argument because GBP has most of the WW talent. And TR and GBP won't do business with each other. It was like that before Floyd left TR and its like that now. This smear campaign against Floyd is ridiculous.
ODLHYA sends a tweet saying they can work with Arum to make great fights.
Floyd says, "Manny, who?"
Manny comes out and says he wants to meet with the TMT camp to talk to them.
Soon after, Floyd says, "He's 1-2, fight not happening."
Floyd picks Khan
Floyd already knew he was picking Khan before any type of negotiations can happen.
Just remember this. IF the Pac/Floyd fight never happens. Just remember. Ultimately, Floyd didn't want it.
PERIOD.
Scheafer is the CEO of GBP not Oscar. Don't be fooled by the name. GBP was MP promotions before Schaefer left banking to go to GB. He runs the show and he says no to Arum.
He's also a quitter and even then Floyd had to sucker punch him to get the W.:lol1:
Come on man Ortiz could've gotten up. He went life and death with Berto who's a bigger puncher than Floyd. You've called Floyd a feather fisted fighter in the past.
